There is a recall on my 2015 GMC Yukon, that I am not the original owner of. The recall is for the brake booster and says that it expired. I have had the car checked by two different shops (both confirmed it was this), and one of them was the local GMC dealership by my house. I called to make an appointment for the recall to be fixed, to which they said they needed to order parts and it would take
... a few weeks. I dropped the car off three weeks later per their request for then another person to call me and say they won't fix it because it is expired. It is a safety matter that the breaks don't work occasionally.Read more

Reverse lamps are not bright. Camera does not brighten area either. Very unsafe to reverse in the dark. Have to touch the brake pedal to be able to see while backing. Also have tried the LEDs in the mirrors while backing- although the LEDs are bright- lights to see while backing are insufficient on the stop lamps.

Issue: Repeated failure of safety‑critical module Description: The Side Blind Zone Alert system on my 2015 GMC Acadia has failed multiple times over the life of the vehicle. The system becomes inoperative and displays “Side Detection System Unavailable.” A local GMC dealer has diagnosed the issue as a failure of the SBZA module due to loss of communication. This failure has occurred repea
... tedly, approximately every two years, despite prior repairs and replacement of the module at my own expense. This is a safety‑critical driver‑assist feature, and the repeated failure pattern suggests a defect in the design or durability of the module. The system is unreliable and cannot be depended on for safe lane‑change operation. GM Customer Assistance has declined to provide support or escalate the case further, despite the safety implications and documented repeat failures. I am reporting this because the failure affects safe operation of the vehicle and appears to be a recurring defect affecting multiple owners of this model.Read more

My 2019 GMC Acadia suffered a "major trans fluid leak" specifically from the transmission accumulator feed pipe. Because of this leak, the transmission lost its necessary hydraulic pressure, leading to "internal damage". This is why I experienced harsh shifts and a complete "missing 3rd gear". This exact part and failure mode are the center of NHTSA Recall 20V668. The recall warns that missing bol
... ts on the accumulator can cause a fluid leak, progressing to a total loss of propulsion—which is exactly what has happened to my vehicle.Read more

My vehicle started turning off suddenly when stopped and then when starting to move. I replaced my rear seal. A week later, I have oil in my timing and my engine no longer works. I was driving and lost engine power in the left lane of a freeway, cut across traffic and coasted to the shoulder. Had truck 6' off of road, though with semis and cars passing at 70mph, I left and waited in the ditch for the tow truck. The electronics worked, but the engine was dead and would not start. When the tow truck arrived, the wheels were locked up and they used rollers to haul the truck
... to the dealership. After the dealer inspected the truck, they sent a message saying they could not turn the engine over by hand. The engine had metal shavings in the oil filter and after removing a valve cover, found metal contamination circulated throughout the engine. The engine, radiator, oil cooler lone, and battery junction box all require replacement. This truck has a 6.2L L87 engine, and the dealer has had several other vehicles with the same blown engine failure. The truck was in for the recall on this issue about a month before the engine went out, they placed a pico scope in the engine to check the drive shaft, and then added a heavier oil. No warning lights came on until the engine died.Read more

The windows stopped working. Only the driver’s window still goes down and if it does go down, it often won’t go back up. I am reporting two separate stall/loss of propulsion events on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Limited (VIN: [XXX] ), which is subject to NHTSA Recall #25V274000 and GM Special Coverage XXX (L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion). INCIDENT 1 — April 16, 2026: While decelerating off a highway exit ramp, the vehicle stalled without warning. The dashboard prompted me to shift to neutral and restart. I perf
... ormed a rolling restart successfully and continued driving. This stall occurred while decelerating on a highway exit ramp with vehicles traveling at highway speeds behind me. The sudden and unexpected loss of propulsion created a significant rear-end collision risk. INCIDENT 2 — April 17, 2026 (next day): While traveling at approximately 40 MPH and climbing a hill under load, the vehicle stalled a second time. The dashboard again prompted a neutral restart. This time the vehicle would not restart. All I heard was a single click from the starter, followed by a complete dash reboot. The vehicle lost all power repeatedly upon restart attempts. I was stranded on a narrow, high-speed rural road in Standish, Maine during rush hour, with vehicles passing at speed. I was in serious danger. The vehicle was towed to Weirs GMC in Arundel, Maine (the selling dealer), where it currently remains for diagnosis under RO# XXX. Both stall concerns are documented as Warranty Pay. Additional concern: Since the day after purchase (March 28, 2026), I have noticed a pronounced cold-start tick originating from the bottom end of the engine, confirmed by an independent mechanic as coming from inside the engine. This vehicle passed a Recall #25V274000 inspection on December 28, 2025 at 98,233 miles. The tick and stall events began after that inspection. I am requesting this be formally documented as a safety complaint tied to Recall #25V274000 and Special Coverage XXX. Incident date: Apr 17, 2026
Good afternoon, I am submitting this complaint to report a serious and potentially life-threatening safety issue involving my 2022 GMC Yukon Denali. While traveling northbound on State Road 417 (toll road) in Florida, approaching Exit 45, I was driving approximately 75 mph when, without any warning, the vehicle suddenly shifted itself into neutral. A message immediately appeared on the dashboard
... instructing me to press the start button, and the vehicle rapidly lost power and began to decelerate in the middle lane of a high-speed highway. This sudden loss of power created an extremely dangerous situation that could have easily resulted in a major collision. Vehicles behind me were traveling at highway speeds, and I had no ability to safely maintain speed or predict the failure. The lack of warning makes this issue especially concerning, as there was no opportunity to take preventive action. After the incident, I contacted OnStar for assistance. The vehicle was towed to Carl Black GMC, where the service advisor confirmed that the engine requires a full replacement. A complete engine failure occurring suddenly at highway speeds, without warning, is not just a mechanical issue—it is a critical safety hazard. This type of failure puts not only the driver but also passengers and surrounding motorists at serious risk of injury or death. It is deeply concerning that a vehicle of this age and caliber would experience such a catastrophic failure. Issues like this must be addressed immediately, as they have the potential to cause severe accidents if they continue to occur without warning. I strongly urge that this matter be investigated thoroughly and that appropriate action be taken to ensure that other drivers are not placed in similar dangerous situations. I was fortunate that my children were not in the vehicle at the time of this incident. The outcome could have been far worse. Please let me know if additional information is required.Read more
