Front passenger airbag does not turn on and/stay on when my adult wife is seated (5'7" 100lbs). Moving the seat up/down and/or back/forth sometimes allows the system to activate but it then turns off later on while driving. The Subaru owner's manual instructs the owner that when this occurs the passenger should sit in the back and Subaru Service should be obtained. Subaru Service has inspected t
... he car and indicated the system is functioning properly, and there is nothing to repair. Afterwards, calling the Subaru Customer Advocate they indicated that they expect the system to turn on for my wife, and that there is no weight minimum for the air bag. They said that I should return to the service center with her so that they could witness the issue. A return appointment was made and completed today. Subaru Service center staff witnessed the passenger air back system ignoring my wife in the seat. Their response was comprised of confusion as to why we were there followed by the judgement that the system was working as designed (based on the previous visit) so there is no problem to be fixed. It appears that the Subaru air bag system does not protect all adult passengers. Also, the owner's manual instructing the driver to tell the passenger to sit in the back when this occurs, seems to indicate that this is not a normal situation and needs to be repaired.Read more

Complaint Message – 2016 Kia Optima Engine Failure Without Oil Light Warning I am the owner of a 2016 Kia Optima (VIN: [XXX] ). My vehicle suffered complete engine failure due to oil starvation — without any prior oil warning light or indication. The engine died while driving, and it was only afterward that I discovered the engine oil was extremely low. The oil pressure light never illuminated
... at any point to warn me. I am aware that Kia previously recalled earlier model years (2011–2014) for similar engine issues under Recall SC147 and others, related to the Theta II engine and oil pressure-related failures. Many owners reported the exact same symptom — catastrophic engine failure without oil light warnings — that I am now experiencing in my 2016 Optima. Although my model year is not included in the existing recall, the failure pattern appears identical. I believe this presents a significant safety issue that should be investigated. A critical warning system (oil pressure light) failed to function properly, which directly led to engine damage. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed and investigated by NHTSA and Kia for potential expansion of the recall or warranty coverage to include the 2016 Optima. I have already contacted Kia and am pursuing further review through the dealership and customer support. Please note that other 2016 Optima owners have reported similar complaints online and in forums, and this issue may affect a broader number of vehicles than currently acknowledged. I started experiencing transmission issues with my vehicle around 80,000 miles. When I initially brought it to a Ford dealership for inspection, I was told there was nothing wrong—despite also reporting other concerns with the vehicle. The jerking and shifting issues continued over the following months and became more frequent. Once the vehicle reached just over 100,000 miles, I returned to the

To this day, no warning lights or dashboard messages have appeared to indicate any transmission issues. No warning lights, messages, or diagnostic codes appeared before or during the progression of this issue. The only symptom has been the physical jerking and irregular shifting, which first appeared around 80,000 miles. I have a case number with Ford.Read more

Yesterday [XXX] the car basically failed to stop when I braked and was nearly hit by the approaching vehicle. I immediately called the service dept of the dealer and taking it in for diagnostics. No warning lights ever popped on. So what happened is I was getting on to the road from the parking lot and started braking to wait for the approaching cars to pass but instead of stopping all I got was
... vibrations and shaking all while not stopping. The car got almost half body length out on the road making the approaching cars swerve and honk at me. The only way I managed to stop it was stomping on the brakes as hard as I could, which worked. But it freaked me out and sent my kid in tears cuz the stopping was so violent. I am aware of the ABS issue with these models and experienced it 5-6 times before but never it was a near collision situation and especially with the kid on board. I called the dealer right away and am taking the car in for diagnostics. I told them about the issue and history of similar events but all I heard back was “oh, sorry it happened, come in for a diag. We have never heard of it.” We all know by now about the faulty ABS system in Palisade and the class action was just filed against Hyundai last month. So I wonder what will it take for them to admit the problem and issue a remedy. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Vehicle Make/Model/Year: Ford Fusion, 20XX (replace with your year) Component Affected: Suspension – lower control arm bushing or mount Summary of the problem: I am reporting a recurring and well-known issue with the lower control arm bushings on Ford Fusion models from 2013 and newer. In my case, the bushing wore prematurely, causing a clunking or cranking noise when turning, especially at lo
... w speeds. The bushing or bolt appears to shift even when torqued properly. This problem has been acknowledged by many other owners as well. Safety risk: This affects the vehicle’s handling and stability. It can cause loose steering, misalignment, premature tire wear, and could result in suspension failure while driving. This poses a real safety concern, especially during cornering or evasive maneuvers. Repair history: This issue is so common that owners often have to replace the bushings or the full control arm multiple times. Even after replacement, the problem can come back, suggesting a design flaw. Community evidence: There are many online complaints and forum threads about the same issue in Ford Fusions from 2013–2020. This appears to be a widespread defect that has not been formally acknowledged by the manufacturer. Request for action: I’m asking NHTSA to investigate this recurring suspension issue and determine if a safety recall is warranted. This is a design defect that affects vehicle safety and should be addressed by Ford.Read more

Recall is for 25S12 FRONT HALF SHAFT INSPECTION red McCombs completed and passed on June 23 2025 a week later the shaft had been bent Ford is denying paying for the recall because it was initially passed. I’m writing to follow up on an ongoing issue involving my 2021 Ford EcoSport currently at your dealership, Red McCombs Ford. I’ve been without a vehicle for several weeks now, and despite mu
... ltiple text updates from Adrian, I’ve yet to receive a concrete response or resolution from Ford regarding the recall and repair process. As you are aware, my vehicle was inspected at your service department on June 23, 2025 in relation to Ford Recall 25S12, concerning improper axle half-shaft installation. At that time, I was told the axle was installed correctly. However, by June 30, the vehicle was back at your shop with a bent axle shaft — a serious failure that occurred less than a week after your team cleared it. This raises a critical concern. Given the nature of the recall — where improperly seated axles can cause spline wear, misalignment, or other stress-related damage — it is highly plausible that the damage was either missed during inspection or already underway when the vehicle was deemed compliant. Despite this, I have received no official update from Ford about whether the repair will be covered under the recall. The continued delay, lack of communication, and lack of access to a working vehicle have created a great deal of inconvenience and frustration. At this time, I am requesting the following: A written update on the current status of my vehicle’s repair and Ford’s determination. A copy of the inspection report from 6/23 outlining what was evaluated during the recall check. Confirmation that this issue is being escalated appropriately within Ford if a resolution is still pending. I would appreciate a prompt response so we can move forward in resolving this issue. You may contact me directly by phone or email.Read more
