Problem #1: Trailer brakes failed while pulling 40' fifth wheel trailer. Was driving at about 50MPH on a 55MPH road and was approaching a stop light. I went to apply my truck and trailer brakes simultaneously and quickly found out I had "lost" my trailer brake. This happened another two times within the next 10 mile trip to my house. I immediately disconnected my trailer and took my truck to the s
... hop. The GMC Dealer fixed this issue, however, it is both scary and extremely dangerous to the public when something like this happens on a brand new truck. Problem #2: Right around 30,000 miles I was driving (unloaded) down the road at about 35MPH when I felt a hard clunk in the transmission followed by grinding noises - immediately a notice flashed on the dash stating the truck went into reduced acceleration and the check engine light came on. I brought my truck to a local GMC Dealer to be serviced on June 19th and they advised me it was the Allison transmission valve body. The part has been on back-order and my truck is still at the dealership sitting in the back lot with at least 4 other 2024 HD models. I called GM twice to inquire about Safety Recall N242454440 (covering 2020-2022 GM Vehicles) and recommend that it get extended beyond 2022 since the problem with the transmission valve body has not been resolved yet. I have not heard anything back from them since that call back in June.Read more

My 2017 Ford Escape has a coolant intrusion/ engine failure. Check engine light came on. The car started shaking. Took the car to a service center and they confirmed it was due to engine failure due to a coolant intrusion. They checked and the code received was cylinder 2 misfire. I did some research and this is a common issue within my car’s year, make, and model but there has been no recall fo
... r it. There is a code CSP 21N12 for this issue. Yet when I put in my VIN it shows no recalls for my vehicle. I contacted Ford and was told again there is no recall. I have the eco boost 1.5L. It matches the make, year, and engine for the problem. My car is misfiring, white smoke from exhaust from cold start, and having coolant loss with no dripping on the ground. This is a known flaw that Ford has been aware of and has a technical service bulletin out for this issue but, after contacting Ford, they will not help with engine replacement. I am making payments, I purchased this car so I can attend college, I also have a job and now I have no car. The vehicle is not repaired because they are quoting too much and I believe Ford needs to issue a recall and repair this known to them issue. I am still having to make payments on a car that is just sitting here. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.Read more

am writing to formally report a transmission failure in my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and to request your assistance in addressing this issue. I purchased the vehicle on September 2020from Suburu Cobband it currently has approximately 143,000 miles on the odometer. Recently, the truck began experiencing serious transmission-related issues, including total failure. These issues developed withou
... t warning and have rendered the vehicle unreliable and unsafe to operate. After inspection by ALM Chevy, I was informed that the failure likely stems from a known issue with the torque converter or transmission valve body — problems that have been widely reported in 2020 Silverado models with the 8-speed automatic transmission. I have also learned that GM issued a recall for certain 2020–2022 models due to excessive transmission valve wear, which may cause the rear wheels to lock up. I am concerned that my vehicle may fall within the scope of this recall or a related Technical Service Bulletin (such as TSB 21-NA-199). Given the seriousness of the failure, the relatively low mileage, and the widespread nature of these transmission problems, I believe this may be a defect in materials or workmanship. I respectfully request the following: Confirmation of whether my vehicle is subject to any open recalls or service bulletins relating to the transmission. A warranty or goodwill repair of the transmission or related components. If parts are unavailable, an estimated timeline for repair or alternative transportation options. I am attaching copies of my repair estimate, service records, and proof of purchase. Please advise me of the next steps and whether further documentation is needed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a prompt resolution so that I may safely return my Silverado to the road. ... me. I spoke to the dealership I bought the truck from and they informed me they would have to see the tires and file a report with the manufacture of the tires. I had to buy all 6 new tires because I didn't want to chance a blow out with my trailer on the truck. I googled Nexen tires LT235/80R17 which are my tires. It says these are not rated for a 1 ton dually truck. When used on a dually it says its not the best choice for a 1 ton especially when towing heavy loads. The reason I bought this truck was for the purpose of towing my RV. I made that clear to the sales man at the dealership when I bought this truck. I assumed these tires were rated for this truck. If it's a defect I should be reimbursed from the manufacture for all 6 tires. If it's the dealers fault they should reimburse me. The affected components are the electrical system, engine, and power train. In March 2025, my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe displayed multiple warning lamps across the dash, including traction control and check engine lights. The vehicle shifted erratically and sometimes entered limp mode. I brought the vehicle to AutoNation Chevrolet South Clearwater for inspection. The dealer replaced the battery, dism
... issed my concerns, and stated that a test drive was performed, but the mileage in and out on the invoice was identical, showing it never actually occurred. Diagnostic trouble codes (P0700, P0717, P2714, P2716, P0706, and multiple U-codes) were present but were not fully investigated. A GM Technical Service Bulletin (21-NA-149, December 2022) covers these exact symptoms (caused by engine wiring harness chafing), but it was never referenced or applied. Because the problem was not addressed, the condition worsened. By July 2025, the vehicle suffered a complete transmission failure. At that point, the dealer confirmed the issue, documenting transmission slipping, shuddering, noise, and additional codes (P0700, P077C, P17F6, P17FB, P1872). GM increased its goodwill contribution from 15% to 40% of the $9,925 repair cost, while AutoNation offered only $500 despite their role in the missed diagnosis. Safety Risk: My family and I were at risk each time the vehicle stalled, lost power, or shifted erratically while driving, including at highway speeds. These failures created a significant risk of collision. The drivability problem was not properly confirmed in March 2025 despite multiple codes being present. By July 2025, the dealer acknowledged and confirmed the transmission failure. The vehicle remains available for inspection, and I have retained all invoices, diagnostic reports, and communications with GM and the dealership.Read more

Driving down the 99Freeway at speeds approx. Up to 72mph, my abs, traction, and brake lights illuminated at the same time on my dash. My friend suggested that I start the vehicle back up and see if I was comfortable enough to continuing to drive it to get myself off of the freeway, which I did. Then when I got off the freeway, I noticed all the lights had gone off and the car felt like it was driving normal again. I proceeded home. The following day my check engine light came on saying to check hybrid system. After being informed to clear the check engine to reset everything my car seemed fine. Then approximately 3 weeks later the abs, traction and brake light came back on and I had difficulty braking. This time and alarm started beeping inside my car as well, the check engine light saying traction battery is not charging and my vehicle does not want to stop. I have experienced multiple tire failures on my 2022 Tesla Model 3, with at least 7 tires needing replacement due to air bubbles. These issues have occurred on both front and rear tires, and currently I have 3 more tires with visible bubbles and one tire is actually leaking air. Most of these tires failed within 2,000-6,000 miles of use, which is far below normal tire lifespan of 25,000-40,000 mil
... es. Despite repeated service visits, no alignment or suspension inspection has ever been performed by Tesla to determine why this keeps happening. The tires are just replaced at my cost, with the problem recurring again and again. Despite the pattern, Tesla service advisors continue to blame road conditions or driving habits. I want to be clear: I actively avoid potholes, drive cautiously, and have never experienced anything like this with any previous vehicle. Something is clearly abnormal here. In addition, I have noticed strange clicking and popping noises while driving, which seem to come from the chassis or steering area. It worries me that there may be a deeper mechanical or build quality issue. The vehicle often feels unstable, and I am genuinely concerned that a failure of a suspension component, battery mounting, or other structure could lead to a fire or loss of control. No warning lights have appeared, but the pattern of repeated air bubbles showing in my tire after just driving not even 1,000 miles and abnormal noises makes the vehicle feel unsafe to operate.Read more

I am filing a complaint regarding a serious and widespread defect in the Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system installed in my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and many other FCA/Stellantis vehicles. The screen has developed a delamination issue that worsens over time. Symptoms include glue dripping from the edges of the screen, “ghost taps” where the system responds without being touched, and unre
... sponsive or inaccurate touch inputs. This is not a cosmetic defect. The infotainment system controls multiple functions beyond entertainment, including navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity, climate control, backup camera, and access to vehicle settings. Malfunctions cause driver distraction and interfere with safe vehicle operation, which could easily lead to an accident. When I contacted Jeep/Chrysler Customer Care, I was informed this is a known issue. My research confirmed that FCA/Stellantis has issued an internal service bulletin acknowledging the defect, but they refuse to issue a formal recall. This appears to be a deliberate decision to avoid the significant cost of replacing defective units across multiple models, leaving many unsafe vehicles on the road. This problem is widespread and well-documented among owners. It is unacceptable that Stellantis treats it only as a service bulletin issue when the defect directly affects safety. Drivers must be able to rely on the infotainment system to respond correctly, especially since it integrates with systems used while driving. A delaminated screen dripping glue and producing ghost inputs is a hazard, not a minor inconvenience. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect and require FCA/Stellantis to take responsibility through a formal recall and replacement program to protect the safety of drivers, passengers, and the public.Read more

On our 2019 Honda Odyssey the passenger sliding door is failing to latch closed and stay closed or locked. The door is popped out in the back because the latch mechanism will not engage and electronically lock as part of the normal closing sequence like the other door. From what I can tell, this is the same issue reported in Service Bulletin 18-128, however when I called Honda about it, they sai
... d my VIN was not included in that recall. I am concerned because it seems like the same problem and it creates an unsafe situation where the door is not fully latching, even when manually closing the door and trying to lock it. I can hear excessive noise from that side of the vehicle, and the warning message flashed saying there is an issue with the Right Side Sliding door, and the dome lights come on with an audible warning tone. I am unable to put passengers in the back of the van and needed to be very careful when driving it to the dealership for diagnosis yesterday. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I think this issue should be covered under recall work, since it seem like it is the same issue described in the service bulletin 18-128.Read more

Update to NHTSA (ODI #11679186) Subject: Update to ODI Complaint #11679186 – Kia America Written Response Body: Dear NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation, I am writing to provide an update to my ODI Complaint #11679186 regarding my 2011 Kia Sportage SX (VIN: [XXX] ), which caught fire while I was driving on [XXX]. On August 27, 2025, Kia America issued me a written response (attached). In
... this letter, Kia explicitly acknowledged: “Preliminary evaluation results show… the fire originated within the engine compartment area.” “The cause was unknown engine oil leaks allowing motor oil to contact hot exhaust surfaces of the engine that led to ignition.” Despite admitting the fire’s cause, Kia refused restitution, stating that the vehicle was “9 years and 163,000 miles outside of warranty.” I request that this letter be added to ODI Complaint #11679186 and considered in your analysis of Kia vehicle fire trends. I believe this documentation is significant in establishing that Kia recognizes the fire hazard but denies responsibility due to warranty expiration, which does not address the broader safety risk. Thank you for your review and for your ongoing work to protect vehicle safety. Respectfully, Daniel McAdams INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
