For nearly a year, I have been unable to drive my vehicle due to a serious safety recall involving the HCU/ABS module. Despite the known risks — including false brake light illumination, disabled ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the ability to start and shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal — the manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy or even a timeline for rep
... air. This delay is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous. I am a veteran who needs to drive to appointments frequently and have been having a lack of proper care because of this as well. The safety risks outlined in the recall are not hypothetical. They represent real, daily threats to myself, my family, and others on the road. A vehicle that can move without brake input poses a hazard even when parked. A disabled ABS and ESC system compromises control in emergency situations. And brake lights that activate erroneously can mislead other drivers, increasing the likelihood of a collision. These are not minor inconveniences — they are critical failures that could result in injury or death. What makes this situation even more urgent is that I am expecting a child. I cannot afford to gamble with safety, especially when the risks persist even while the vehicle is stationary. The fact that I’ve been unable to use my car for almost a year has disrupted my life and left me without reliable transportation during a time when I need it most. The manufacturer’s lack of action — no repair, no interim solution/refund, no meaningful communication — reflects a failure to prioritize customer safety and well-being. This recall has not been handled in a timely or responsible manner. I am calling on NHTSA to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, provide a safe and functional vehicle or refund to ensure that no other families are left vulnerable due to inaction.Read more

This defect presents a serious safety hazard to children and passengers, especially in warm weather when entrapment can quickly lead to heat-related injury or worse. Like many other people on the [XXX] forums, our Honda Odyssey has a water leak that dripped onto the Tailgate Control Module, causing it to corrode and stop working. The slot in the B-Pillar where the seatbelt enters and exits the trim when it's extended or retracted has an unrounded and sharp edge. Under normal use, this plastic edge cuts nylon fibers on the sides of the belt, leading to a overall loss in integrity of the safety restraint. Vehicles should have rounded plastic edges or metal oblong loops to eliminate the belt rubbing against sharp surfaces.
... The belt is frayed on the side facing the forward part of the vehicle, which rubs the most as it's extended that direction when the driver pulls on the belt to fasten it. An independent mechanic says it seems to be a design flaw and my seatbelt is at a high risk of ripping in the event a substantial force is applied to it by an occupant during a crash.Read more

Dealer inspection: The vehicle was taken to the Genesis dealership after earlier incidents. They found no diagnostic codes and offered no explanation or repair. Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Recently, I experienced what is widely known as the “death wobble,” a violent and uncontrollable shaking of the steering wheel and front end while driving. This incident nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle and crash, creating an extremely dangerous situation for myself and others on
... the road. The “death wobble” is caused by defective or worn suspension and steering components, including track bar bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, and other parts. The experience was terrifying, and I had to carefully slow down and pull over to regain control of the vehicle. I am aware that a nationwide class-action lawsuit settlement was approved in June 2023 for Jeep Wrangler models (2018–2020) and Jeep Gladiator models (2020) for this exact issue. The settlement provided extended warranties, potential coverage for suspension components, and reimbursements for repairs. While my vehicle is a 2023 model, I am concerned that this ongoing safety defect persists in newer models as well, which suggests that Jeep has not adequately addressed the problem. My vehicle is currently at a dealership, and I have been informed that I am responsible for covering the cost of repairs despite this being a known and dangerous defect. I strongly believe this is an unfair burden on consumers and poses a continuing public safety risk. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this matter, evaluate whether 2023 Jeep Wrangler models should be included in recalls or settlements, and take steps to hold Jeep accountable. I also request guidance on what recourse I may have as a consumer who has experienced this safety issue firsthand. Thank you for your time and commitment to road safety. I am happy to provide additional information, documentation, or repair records as needed.Read more

I tried holding down the parking brake button, and the first time all the lights went away for 5 seconds, but then they all came back again. I restarted the car a few times, and each time I got the same "check brake system" message as well as all the warning light symbols. I was not able to drive my car at all to remove it from in front of other peoples houses. I had to tow the car to the dealership, and the SOS button on the car did nothing. No warning lamps, messages, or similar symptoms had appeared prior to the failure, they all showed up after the "check brake system" alert appeared. 6 months ago I had another problem with the car, where past the speed of 30 MPH, the car would not shift gears up to a higher one. It kept increasing the RPMs when trying to go faster but would not shift gears, leaving me unable to safely match the speed of traffic and having to drive all the way to the dealership with my hazard lights on.Read more
