My AC in my 2023 GV 70 stopped working. Apparently this is a known defect but I was never notified. Im currently in NC, 3 hours from my home in [XXX] where the heat index is 110 degrees. Now i have to drive home to get service without AC. I reached out to the dealer four times today including the service manager, service coordinator and Anthony the GM but no one has returned my call. I called Ge
... nesis customer service and their response was “sorry no appointments until late next week and we have no loaners until late September”. Clearly, no one at Genesis at the dealer level or corporate cares enough to help me solve this problem so I am forced to find an independent mechanic who can work on my vehicle and rent my own car until it’s repaired. This is completely unacceptable especially for a luxury vehicle. First, not being notified of a problem Genesis has known about for a long time so i could repair it before it’s become a calamity (where i am now). Second, no one cares enough to help me solve their defective parts problem! I expect Genesis to pay for both the repairs and my rental plus any additional out of pocket expenses. I am filing an official complaint against Genesis Motor America for failing to provide a free and accessible remedy for an active, mandatory safety recall on my 2021 Genesis GV80 Genesis has closed and removed all physical dealerships from my entire state, creating an absolute geographic barrier to service. Corporate representatives have acknowledged the safety risk and offered to tow the vehicle
... 400 miles to the nearest out-of-state dealership. However, they are refusing to provide a round-trip transport return ticket, demanding instead that I personally travel 400 miles out of state to retrieve the vehicle upon completion of the safety repair. Furthermore, they refuse to provide a direct-billed loaner vehicle or alternative mobility, instead instructing me to pay out-of-pocket for an open-ended rental and apply for a "case-by-case" reimbursement later. Under federal law, safety recalls must be executed entirely free of charge and without placing undue logistical or financial burdens on the consumer. By forcing a 400-mile retrieval trip and open-ended financial exposure for alternative transit, Genesis is violating the "free remedy" provision of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. I request that the NHTSA review Genesis Motor America's handling of recall compliance for owners stranded by their recent dealer network restructuring.Read more

Component Focus: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING / VISIBILITY/WIPER/DEFROSTER (HVAC) Description of Safety Defect: My brand-new 2026 Genesis GV70 Turbo (under 5,000 miles) suffered a sudden, catastrophic cooling system and heater core failure while in operation. The vehicle has a severe design defect: it completely lacks a low-coolant fluid level sensor in the expansion reservoir. Because of this engine
... ering omission, the vehicle dropped its coolant level completely below the minimum safety line and filled the enclosed passenger cabin with highly toxic, atomized ethylene glycol (antifreeze) chemical vapors through the HVAC vents without triggering a single dashboard warning light, chime, or error code. The climate control system simultaneously malfunctioned, dropping fan speeds when stopped and forcing occupants to breathe in the concentrated toxic fumes. This is a severe health and safety hazard. A driver could easily be overcome by hazardous chemical vapors or experience sudden engine failure at highway speeds because the vehicle provides zero electronic warning of a critical coolant loss. Local authorized dealerships refused to accommodate the vehicle or provide a safe loaner vehicle despite the car being completely undriveable and chemically hazardous to sit inside. The vehicle is currently disabled at a dealershipRead more

The Engine stalled completely at highway speeds. It was then towed to the dealership and was diagnosed with engine rod bearing failure. I pulled my 2019 BMW 740i out of a residential garage and stopped the vehicle. I opened the driver's door and exited the vehicle to enter the code on the exterior garage keypad to close the garage door. After entering the code, I turned around to return to the vehicle and observed that the BMW had begun moving unexpectedly. The vehicle continued moving and ultimately crashed into a tree, causing s
... ubstantial front-end damage. I did not intend or expect the vehicle to move after I exited it. I expected the vehicle's systems to secure the vehicle when I exited, but when I turned around, the vehicle was moving. I am concerned that a system intended to prevent unintended vehicle movement—including the transmission Park function, electronic/automatic parking brake, or associated electronic control system—may not have operated as expected. The specific cause has not yet been determined. A BMW Certified Collision Center has estimated approximately $26,000–$27,000 in repairs, and my insurance carrier is evaluating the vehicle as a potential total loss. I have requested preservation of the vehicle and available electronic/diagnostic data so that the cause of the unexpected movement can be investigated. I am reporting this incident as a potential safety-related malfunction involving unintended vehicle movement/rollaway and am requesting that it be reviewed accordingly.Read more

A young teenage driver faced a terrifying highway emergency when her vehicle suffered an abrupt, dangerous loss of motive power at 70+ MPH on the interstate due to sudden turbocharger failure. ... harger and a completely contaminated oil ecosystem. The engine block has not seized yet, but all components are highly contaminated. The affected components are preserved and available for federal inspection. The root cause is a completely choked oil pump pick up tube screen. After a week-long standoff where the consumer had to escalate the case to Ford Corporate to force the dealership to drop the oil pan, teardown photos revealed the intake mesh was blanketed and impacted by a thick, suffocating mat of degraded wet belt fibers. This debris choked off oil pressure, proving the dealer fraudulently certified Safety Recall 23S64 as complete while leaving the lethal hazard trapped inside. In addition to this extreme debris, internal Ford OASIS logs admit the technician snapped a tensioner bolt during the recall. They drilled it out but failed to clean the engine, trapping sharp metallic shards that circulated into the oil system, destroying the turbocharger seals and scorching the gaskets. The dealer was given urgent warnings on April 7, 2026, when the driver reported interstate stalling ("limp mode at 70+ mph") and an AutoZone turbo pressure code. The dealer treated this severe safety risk as a low-priority task, failed to check the oil pressure, and released the car. After the forced pan drop in July, Ford Corporate denied coverage for a new long block and turbocharger, instructing the consumer to pay over $8,000 out of pocket for repairs caused entirely by their own botched recall.Read more

MGU Failed, 48v code P0DAF had early signs of premature failure. when on the highway, vehicle shut off completely, no power what so ever. Couldn't steer correctly and vehicle was going highway speeds (approximately 70mph) dealer has confirmed the issue being there MGU gone bad, but I have records of water intrusion multiple times on the rear seats, headliner & back glass (XL1) and water intrusion
... can cause BPCM to go bad along with the MGU to go bad. they first appeared on or around December 2025, most likely way before that but just never noticed it. check engine light came on and showed a code for the BPCM going bad and then I had the CHMSL replaced 3 times under warranty & then the 4th visit they did they urethane warranty superseded the XL1 and even after that fix, there water leak still occurred and dealership wouldn't fix it they stated Stellantis denied the back glass replacement and further repairs because im out of warranty but the warranty expires 8 Years/150,000 miles and my vehicle is only 6 years old and sitting at 118,350 miles. but the entire problem with water intrusion most likely started anywhere from 60-70,000 miles ago. even when I purchased the vehicle at 39,801 miles I noticed the water stains on the headliner but was advised the CHMSL caused that so it was fixed so technically the CHMSL was replaced roughly 4 times along with the original making it a total of 5 CHSML. so my issue is that its highly possible that the water intrusion that was never fixed for thousands of miles and many months leaked into the rear seats near the 48V Battery pack and eventually started shorting and lead to the MGU going bad. so this all could've been avoided if dealership fixed the water leak many many visits ago. along with the MGU could've been replaced under the major emissions comp warranty way. before that ever expired when it showed signs of premature wear like DTC codes popping up at 100,000 miles and even many more visits prior to December.Read more

About one month ago, I noticed that the paint on my rear quarter panel (to the right of my rear window) was peeling. It continues to peel. I am filing this complaint because I truly believe this transmission issue is a safety problem. I was driving my 2021 Ford Expedition and was merging onto a busy highway when I pressed the gas to get up to traffic speed. Instead of accelerating, the engine revved but the transmission would not shift. It felt like the vehicle was stuck between gears or in neutral. My SUV would not accelerate when
... I needed it to, and I remember thinking, “This is how someone gets hit.” As a mom, it was terrifying. I depend on my vehicle to safely get my family where we need to go. When you press the gas while merging into fast-moving traffic, you expect your vehicle to respond. Mine didn’t. I was left trying to merge while traffic was approaching and my SUV would barely move. Before this happened, I had noticed increasingly harsh shifting and delayed gear changes. The vehicle had been properly maintained, and the transmission had recently been serviced. After the incident, an authorized Ford dealership diagnosed the transmission with a failed CDF drum in the 10-speed transmission. The transmission had to be completely rebuilt. After researching this problem, I found many other Ford owners reporting the exact same failure and the same scary symptoms. This doesn’t seem like normal wear and tear. Losing the ability to accelerate without warning is a serious safety concern, especially when merging onto a highway or crossing an intersection. I hope NHTSA investigates this issue before someone isn’t as lucky as I was. I was fortunate to avoid an accident, but I can’t help thinking another family may not be.Read more

While approaching a slowing car on the offramp, the Acura's automatic braking slammed on the brakes abruptly while flashing "Brake" on the dash. The car stopped well short of the car in front. This abrupt, uncommanded stopping resulted in a near miss whereby the driver behind my car nearly hit me. In addition to stopping sooner than required, and thus giving the driver behind me less chance to rea
... ct, the system did not apply full braking force, but more like 90-95% of maximum braking force. This is an example of Schroedinger's automatic emergency braking, where a situation is simultaneously "unavoidable" such that the car intervenes, yet not dire enough to apply full braking. This car will stop from 60mph in less than 110 feet, but the system appears to be calibrated for a much lower performance car with tires made of wood, such as an A-Spec or Technology Package Acura. This car has had previous incidents of defective automatic braking at low speeds, however with nobody behind me these did not result in a near miss. During the 20 months that I have owned the car it has slammed the brakes while pulling into my garage as well. For some inexplicable reason, Acura's calibration engineers think that I am going to drive through my water heater and furnace after 25 years of driving with no accidents. Due to these previous incidents, I had adjusted the "distance" parameter for the AEB to the shortest allowable, but it still activates unnecessarily. While this low speed braking defect will not cause a serious injury or fatality, it is yet another example of the poor execution that plagues this car. In summary, the automatic braking system on this car is dangerous and unusual, and is mis-calibrated considering the performance capability of the car.Read more
