A very low pulsating sound is emanating from the engine compartment. I ran to the trunk to disconnect the battery, with the key fob in my pocket, but the button on lid does not open the lid. I run back to the dash and push the trunk release but received no result. I pulled the rear seats down crawled into the trunk and pulled the emergency trunk release and was finally able to open it. Instead of disconnecting the battery, I attempted to jump it with another vehicle. The vehicle was still in the Run position and all of the other components were continuing to malfunction as stated above. The vehicle "started" and began emmiting exhaust but I still had no response in the gas peddle. I then attempted to turn the vehicle to the off position, which worked only after jumping the vehicle and emitting the exhaust. Once the vehicle was shut off I attempted to restart the vehicle as usually and it worked no problem. It has started and ran fine for 2 days but I am extremely concerned about my safety in driving this vehicle due to reading other consumer experiences with a malfunctioning TIPM in this model and year of vehicle.Read more

They are trying to tell me that they will not warranty their tires with ozone or weather cracking over 4 years old from the date of the tire manufacture stamped on the tire. I believe this is not weather related. I believe it is a defect in the tire and they are trying to blame weather. Even if the problem is what they call "weather" related that should not preclude a consumer/purchaser of a vehicle with their tires on it from pursuing a claim. Their tires should be able to withstand any "weather" and if not they should inform consumers as such. This is a "safety" issue and should NOT be taken lightly. (All under a separate recall that had just come out) The dealer also said the tone wheel needed replacement and was the source of the inability to start and the hesitation in acceleration that was encountered. Ram refuses to cover the tone wheel despite the knowledge they have regarding the delaminating of the tone wheel. Supposedly the W58, a software update) was to over ride the mechanical issue of a delaminating tone wheel. How can a software update repair an obvious and known mechanical issue? Why was my vehicle given a “band-aide” and not repaired correctly? Why is the NHTSB allowing Ram to band-aide a mechanical issue that could cause serious injuries due to loss of power or acceleration in a traffic scenario. It makes absolutely no sense. Please look at this issue regarding the band-aide fix and enforce the correct decision in W68 to replace the defective mechanical part of ALL affected vehicles allowing the many many owners that have suffered financially due to their ineptitude in fixing the problem correctly the first time! I have been in contact with several people representing RAM with no satisfaction. While various service people sympathize with me and completely understand my point, they are unable to cover the tone wheel repair. I am not having to drive Leaning forward, because of fear of injuries if the drivers side does the same. This vehicle is not safe to be on the road. I've had numerous safety issues: 1) Electrical: --every day I get warnings about faults, particularly with many of the ADAS features being unavailable. --the dash screen with the speedometer fades out while driving. --the main screen stops working or locks on a back-up camera image. --the A/C system intermittently functions. ... is that the vehicle has a glass roof that traps heat in the car and it gets hot inside fast. --interior lights turn on and won't turn off. --the rear door will unlock but the door cannot be opened. This is particularly worrisome in the case of an emergency if I can't get my kids out of the backseat. --the side mirrors have closed by themselves while driving. 2) Driving --the car will shift gears on its own while driving, generally shifting into park when I stop in stop and go traffic. --if I encounter any potholes and dents in the road, the vehicle will lunge forward, quickly speeding up when slowing down. --the rollback on this vehicle is very worrisome. The lightest incline will result in the car starting to roll backwards very quickly. If you press the accelerator while rolling back the vehicle thrusts forward. --I've been locked out of the vehicle two times. Both times it was because the vehicle fell into a deep sleep and required a remote activation. That meant I had to wait 15-20 minutes to get a hold of a representative to remote unlock my car. I have two kids and the idea of getting stuck somewhere with a car that can't be unlocked worries me. 3) Keyfob --the battery dies every 4-8 weeks. --the keyfob is essential to opening and starting the vehicle, but it doesn't always work. --I've had to have my car towed because the keyfob would not operate and I couldn't unlock the vehicle with the app. Overall, this vehicle is far too dangerous to be on the road!Read more

Engine failure due to low oil while driving on interstate. Causing to low all power in the middle of the road. Vehicle was inspected by a mechanic and Tow company. Cars had to go around me as I was the first at the light. I finally got the car to turn on and white smoke came out the exhaust pipes I couldn’t put the car in drive. I tried to re start the vehicle again and got it into drive and was able to pull on the side of the highway and more white smoke came out still no vehicle warning signs came on but the screen flashed dimly like it wanted to turn off again. I flagged down a fire truck and called 911 for help the fighters stated it seemed like my engine had blown out and the coolant was completely drained and may have gotten inside the engine causing the white smoke but to take it to a mechanic to verify. I had the vehicle towed to my home. On the way to work that night it drove fine with no issues or warnings, or pulling, I ran errands the day prior and no light warnings came on nor was my vehicle temperatures out of place. I even had my car serviced on [XXX] and had no issues I keep up on the maintenance I got the vehicle used from enterprise with a mileage of 52,559 on [XXX] the vehicle now has only 96,634 I’ve had the car for only a year and 4 months it should not have had an engine issue l have made a claim with my insurance hoping to get help, I’m calling enterprise for warranty information if there’s any and ford to see if there is any manufacturer warranties hoping to hear back this week. The transmission failed at just under 60k miles. Our air bag sensor light is now coming on and not sure why. I don’t have the money to continue to repair this vehicle plus make payments. We also have had issues with the front bolts on the driver side continuing to loosen.

When driving down the road at approximately 35-40mph, the accelerator pedal stopped working and a variety of warning messages and lights popped up on the dash. Some of those messages included "gear selected will engage at low speed", "powertrain system fault", and "pre-collision assist not available". Because the vehicle suddenly became undriveable, it rolled to a stop in the middle of the road.
... After coming to a stop, I put it in park (I may have restarted the vehicle, but am not entirely sure) and I was able to get the vehicle off the road, albeit with reduced power. Warning messages and lights (check engine, wrench) remained on the dashboard. There were no warning signs prior to this happening The vehicle was towed to a local Ford dealership and has been there for 13 days. I have not heard from them about identifying the problem.
