This complaint is in regards to Safety Recall 272 Component Failure and Vehicle Disabling / SOS System Failure On [XXX], at approximately [XXX] PM, I was driving my Genesis vehicle during rush hour when I heard a loud popping sound. Immediately following the sound, the dashboard displayed a critical warning light stating: "Electrical Charging System Fault — Check Electrical System." Because I wa
... s actively driving in heavy rush-hour traffic, this sudden loss of charging system functionality posed an immediate safety hazard. I pressed the in-vehicle "SOS" button to contact Genesis emergency services. The operator, who identified himself as "Eddie," refused to dispatch a tow truck to assist me. Instead, he offered to read a phone number aloud for me to write down. I explained that I was actively operating a malfunctioning vehicle in heavy traffic and could not safely write down information, but he still refused to call for emergency towing. I managed to safely limp the vehicle back to my residence and subsequently arranged for the local dealership, Genesis of Las Vegas, to tow the vehicle. On Friday, June 5, 2026, the dealership confirmed that the vehicle had suffered a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which also destroyed the 12V battery. They informed me that this failure was directly tied to NHTSA Safety Recall 272 (Integrated Charging Control Unit). While the dealership performed the ICCU remedy, they are currently refusing to release my vehicle unless I pay $500.00 for the replacement of the 12V battery. Because the 12V battery was directly damaged as a consequential result of the recalled ICCU defect, it should be covered under the safety recall remedy and vehicle warranty. As of this reporting, the dealer is holding my vehicle hostage over this fee, and Genesis Motor America has failed to resolve the issue despite a formal complaint being filed with them. Incident date: Oct 20, 2025
I am reporting a recurring drivetrain defect in my 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T Sport Prestige AWD (current mileage: 20,000 miles). The vehicle produces a prominent, loud mechanical whining and droning noise specifically when driving within the speed range of 55 mph to 65 mph. The issue is highly load-dependent: the noise significantly intensifies and gets louder when decelerating/coasting down through t
... his speed window without the brakes applied and it is very prominent on smooth roads or highway. The sound distinctly originates from the front front-end/drivetrain area, heavily pointing to an issue with the front axle differential ring/pinion gear mesh or a failing pinion bearing. The manufacturer (Genesis Corporate) and authorized local dealership Genesis of [XXX] have acknowledged hearing the noise but are currently refusing to perform repairs or replace components under the factory powertrain warranty, claiming that because another vehicle of this specification make the same sound, it is a "normal operating characteristic". A severe, loud drivetrain whine that worsens on deceleration indicates mechanical play or improper factory tolerances. Left unaddressed, a failing differential or bearing can bind or fail catastrophically at highway speeds, posing a severe sudden locking hazard and safety risk. Genesis Corporate Case Number for this issue is: XXX INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Parked my car at home at 3pm on 11/20/25. At 3:07 my neighbor banged on my front door & told me my car is on fire. The fire was under the hood with flames emerging in front of the windshield. Called 911 as we got to safety. Within minutes, the car was engulfed in flames & we watched as it went up in flames, with popping sounds, glass breaking, alarms going off, & the siding melting off the house,
... etc until the FD got there. They put out the fire, & checked the home- the car was a total loss, & the front of the house needed major repairs. We had a fire investigator come within days seeing that the fire was hottest on the drivers side. A report was submitted for insurance, as well as claims to car and home. No warning lights, or problems appeared prior to. My insurance company did not report anything to Genesis, so I reached out on 1/3/26, & they sent me a letter offering a $1500 good faith settlement but wanted me to exclude/release myself from any further future claims, actions, etc. They claim they were not given the option to do their own investigation (the car was in my driveway for 2.5 weeks). The insurance company said they'd reach out the them- so we did not. We looked at the pile of ash, & smelled chemicals for weeks. I countered their offer (as Genesis cars from this year (& more) have had fires & mine could potentially be included). They were reviewing my offer for a month & asked if I retained a lawyer, or just got guidance (I just got guidance). They declined my counter offer, & four days (2/17/26) later they overnight-ed their initial offer, stating I had 5 days to accept, or my case would soft close on 2/25/26. I recently asked to have the case reopened. Genesis continues to issue multiple recall notices affecting various models, increasing the risk of fire. I am now reporting this in the hopes someone else doesn't have to go through what I did. I have more documents if needed.Read more

When I returned home, I found that my home charger also stopped charging at 32 amps (though slower 16 amps still worked). On December 14, 2025 I was driving on the highway when I heard a loud pop noise and the vehicle immediately lost propulsion, resulting in a dangerous situation where the car needed to limp at low speeds to the side of the road. There, the car fully lost all mobility and needed to be towed to a Genesis dealership. They diagnosed the problem as a faulty ICCU, and replaced it as well as installed new software to prevent this situation from reoccurring. In May 29, 2026 the vehicle once again no longer charges at 32 amps at home. The charging would initiate and last a few minutes before fully disengaging and the car reports "Charger Not Connected". Since this is a repeat of the same ICCU failure (above), and I DO NOT wish to lose vehicle propulsion on the highway like before, I have stopped driving the vehicle until it can be diagnosed and fixed by Genesis dealership. I am awaiting for the local Genesis dealership's next availability in a week. I no longer can safely drive my vehicle until this is fixed for a second time. The issue is still unresolved as of today, June 8th 2026.Read more

The air conditioning system in my 2022 Genesis GV70 appears to have a recurring evaporator core failure that results in loss of cold air and unsafe driving conditions. The first failure occurred in March 2026 at approximately 60,541 miles. Prior to failure, the vehicle produced a whirring noise and inconsistent temperatures from different vents, eventually stopping the production of cold air entir
... ely. The vehicle was taken to a dealership/service center, where no visible leak was found after a dye test was conducted. The refrigerant was evacuated and recharged, temporarily restoring operation. During that visit, a service representative stated the issue could be related to the evaporator core. The same issue returned only a few months later at approximately 61,500 miles, requiring the vehicle to be brought back to the dealership for service in May 2026. At drop-off, dealership staff again indicated the evaporator core was likely the cause. This defect creates a significant safety concern in hot and humid weather conditions because the air conditioning system is unable to properly dehumidify the cabin and defog the windshield. My visibility while driving was impaired because the windshield fogged during rainy and humid conditions. Opening the windows to reduce fogging was not a practical solution due to heavy rain. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to either failure. Based on my own research, other 2022 Genesis GV70 owners appear to be reporting similar recurring air conditioning and evaporator core failures involving repeated refrigerant loss and temporary recharge repairs that do not permanently resolve the issue.Read more

The vehicle was puttering and smoking from the exhaust. At first the mechanic thought it was a head gasket, but with further investigation it was the coolant/exhaust. The vehicle stalled out multiple times, twice while driving and once in a grocery store parking lot.

I have requested an appointment with my local Volvo dealership to investigate this problem with delamination of the windshield and All side/rear windows. The glass has developed a pervasive milky, cloudy, and fractured appearance. When driving in the direct sunlight or at night with oncoming headlights, the vision for the driver is distorted and causes a significant safety hazard. The vehicle is
... currently in pristine condition with fewer than 2000 miles when the problem was first identified. I have reported the problem to my local dealership along with Photos illustrating the problem and believe the windshield should be replaced since the vehicle is still under a full factory warranty. I have not yet received confirmation from the dealership that they recognize the severity of the problem, but I am concerned that others should be aware of this issue prior to purchasing similar vehicles from Volvo.Read more

Nearly had a collision while trying to back up in parking garage.
Incident date: Apr 4, 2026
On April 28, 2026 while driving at highway speeds the vehicle shifted into first gear nearly causing an accident. We have contacted the dealership and Ford Motor Company. Both are indicating a repair needs to be done in excess of $1300. Both the dealership and Ford are confirming this is the responsibility of the vehicle owner. There is a known defect related to the safe operating condition of thi
... s vehicle. A recall should happen and all repairs should be covered by Ford motor company. For this malfunction to happen can cause an accident harming people in the vehicle as well as other drivers on the road.Read more

While driving my Genesis G70 on the highway in rainy conditions, the vehicle repeatedly loses traction and hydroplanes at normal highway speeds. The car begins sliding across lanes with very little control. During a prior incident, driver-assist features (lane keeping assist) were active. Rain appeared to interfere with the sensors, and the system malfunctioned by steering incorrectly. The steeri
... ng wheel became difficult to control, and the vehicle attempted to steer into another lane while traction was already compromised. The vehicle hydroplaned across multiple lanes of the expressway, creating a high risk of collision. The system’s steering input did not match driver intent and made the situation more dangerous. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop near a wall but avoided impact. After this incident, I turned off the lane keeping assist feature. However, the problem continues. On a separate occasion, while entering the highway in rainy conditions, the vehicle immediately began sliding again, indicating an ongoing traction or stability issue even without driver-assist features active. This issue has occurred more than once and creates a serious safety risk to myself and others, as the vehicle becomes difficult to control and does not maintain proper traction in wet conditions.Read more

I own a 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, VIN [XXX] . The vehicle has been in and out of Rydell Jeep & Ram dealership over 3 times in the last few months for fuel pump issues. It has been at the dealership for over a month total (in and out). Each time I have had to pay for towing and rental cars. I have not been reimbursed for any rental or towing costs. On April 11, 2026, immediately after picking up the
... truck from the dealership (where it had just been serviced for a previous fuel pump issue), the vehicle suddenly lost all power while I was driving on the freeway and would not restart. It was towed back to Rydell. On April 23, 2026 at 9:30 AM, Bruce (service advisor) and Mike (mechanic) at Rydell verbally admitted to me that their original diagnosis was wrong. They had initially said a gear inside the engine that turns the CP4 fuel pump had come loose or failed. They now admit that diagnosis was incorrect, but they refuse to provide that admission in writing. They are now trying to charge me for the repair. I believe the actual root cause is that the CP4 high-pressure fuel pump seized internally. That seizure would have placed extreme resistance on the engine's drive gear for the pump, causing the gear or its retaining bolt to fail as a secondary consequence. The pump seizure is a known safety defect in these EcoDiesel vehicles. Because the dealership has admitted the original diagnosis was wrong, and because this failure happened immediately after fuel pump-related service, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this as a safety defect. The sudden loss of power at highway speeds is extremely dangerous. I also request that any existing recall or investigation (such as NHTSA Campaign 22V406000 a INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
