My 2022 Genesis G70 has experienced repeated turbocharger and exhaust-system problems. In August and September 2025, the vehicle was serviced for exhaust/turbo-related gaskets and clamps and a misfire condition. It later developed knocking, sluggish acceleration, and additional turbo problems. The dealer replaced the turbo wastegate in February 2026, and additional turbocharger repairs were subseq
... uently required. On July 28, 2026, an exhaust leak near the turbocharger was diagnosed. While operating the vehicle, I experienced headaches, dizziness, chest discomfort, and irritation of my eyes and nose. I was concerned that exhaust fumes could enter the passenger compartment and impair my ability to operate the vehicle safely. I sought medical care for a headache on July 29, 2026. I have not received medical confirmation of carbon-monoxide poisoning. The exhaust leak was repaired in August 2026, but on August 17, 2026, the leak appeared again in the same location. The condition has therefore been reproduced and confirmed through service inspections and has recurred after repair. The vehicle and its repair records are available for inspection upon request. Previous symptoms included a check-engine light, misfire, knocking, sluggish acceleration, and exhaust-related concerns. The vehicle has also experienced several extended periods out of service for repairs.Read more

Air conditioner evaporator core failure. Air conditioner stopped working. Took vehicle to shop and was told by dealer this was a common problem and that TSB 25-HA-002G was issued concerning this problem. 2026 Genesis G70 2.5T RWD. The navigation system is completely gone. There is absolutely no way to get the maps or even the navigation settings menu up. On every startup, you can see a part of the screen which shows it tries to load navigation, but fails every time. There are a few critical safety issues with this. To start, a main feature of the Adaptive Cruise Control is relying on GPS map da
... ta to anticipate sharp bends in the highway. If the navigation system cannot provide this layout data, the adaptive cruise control will not automatically slow down for upcoming curves, forcing the driver to intervene suddenly or risk carrying too much speed into a turn. Missing speed limits: If the navigation system fails, the car may display the wrong speed limit, or none at all, increasing the risk of accidental speeding or sudden braking when a camera finally catches a sign. Reliance on phones: If the primary infotainment screen is dead or the GPS is frozen, drivers frequently resort to handling a smartphone to find their way. Looking down at a phone screen significantly increases glances away from the road, which is a leading cause of distracted-driving accidents. Delayed Emergency Response: Connected safety services use the car’s internal GPS module to automatically broadcast the vehicle’s exact coordinates to emergency responders in the event of a severe collision or airbag deployment. If the GPS framework within the navigation system is entirely non-functional, the vehicle may fail to transmit this critical location data or provide incorrect data when every second counts. This problem has been reproduced by dealers and many other owners. The manufacturer is aware but has not provided any details. Most people who have already took it to the dealer have not received any help. This happened directly due to the most recent software update.Read more

Vehicle has physically and forcibly moved both forward and backward, on its own, after being placed in Park and the engine turned off — including after occupants have exited the vehicle. This movement has struck the driver and two minor children on multiple separate occasions, as well as nearby curbs and objects, without physical injury. No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared before or
... during these incidents. Because the movement occurs after occupants have exited the vehicle, it is unknown how many additional times this may have occurred unobserved. Dealer states it was unable to duplicate this condition during a test drive. During this same visit, the right front CV axle was found to be leaking grease and had lost lubricant, and required full replacement. Both front horns were also found inoperable/defective due to internal short and were replaced. Neither of these conditions had been previously reported as faulty prior to this visit. Separately, this vehicle has experienced a steering column defect. At approximately 9,000 miles, a steering wheel squeak was reported and a dust cover was replaced. During that same earlier visit, an intermittent loss of acceleration was also reported; the dealer was unable to duplicate this concern and documented the vehicle as “operating as designed.” Weeks after that visit, a knocking noise developed in the steering column. At approximately 10,000 miles, a technician found a structural through-bolt in the steering column not torqued to manufacturer specification and corrected it. Dealer advised in writing that this defect was likely present at the time of manufacture. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized dealer on multiple occasions for these concerns. The owner has repeatedly requested, in writing, a detailed explanation of what was diagnosed, what was repaired, and the underlying cause of the movement, the axle failure, and the horn failure, and has not received a substantive written response as of this filingRead more

This complaint concerns Manufacturer Recall 033G (NHTSA Recall 26V229000) for a fuel crossover pipe with retention fasteners that may loosen over time, creating a fuel leak and engine compartment fire risk. The vehicle has not yet received the recall remedy because the nearest authorized Genesis retailer capable of performing the repair is over 620 miles round trip. The recall filing states that
... Genesis will reimburse owners for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain the remedy, in accordance with a reimbursement plan submitted to NHTSA on March 2, 2026. I contacted Genesis's National Consumer Affairs team and requested written pre-approval of round-trip transportation costs consistent with that filed reimbursement plan, so I could arrange transport without paying out of pocket on an uncertain after-the-fact review. Genesis responded that they are unable to provide advance approval or written authorization for any round-trip transportation, mileage, fuel, or other travel-related costs. They stated only that a one-way tow may be considered for reimbursement after the recall is completed, subject to review and approval, with no commitment on the return trip. As a result, completing this safety recall requires me to pay for transportation costs out of pocket with no guarantee of reimbursement, despite Genesis's own filed commitment to reimburse expenses incurred to obtain the remedy. This creates a practical barrier to completing a safety recall that is supposed to be free of charge, particularly for owners who do not live near an authorized retailer. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether Genesis's actual practice is consistent with the reimbursement plan it submitted for this recall.Read more

On August 1, 2026, the right rear passenger door of our Genesis GV70 opened while we were traveling approximately 75 mph, approximately 25 minutes into our drive. We purchased the vehicle new on March 20, 2026. During the approximately 25 minutes of driving before the incident, we received no door-open or door-ajar warning. The warning first occurred when the door physically opened, providing no a
... dvance indication that the door might not be secure and no opportunity to stop before it opened. My daughter was seated beside the right rear door and was leaning against it when it opened. She had to grab the door and physically hold it shut. This created an immediate risk of serious injury to an occupant at highway speed. My safety complaint concerns both the door opening while the vehicle was moving and the timing of the door-warning system’s activation. I cannot determine whether the door was improperly latched before the incident, whether the latch failed during the drive, or whether a sensor or other component malfunctioned. What we observed is that no warning was provided during the preceding drive; the warning activated only when the door opened. We delivered the vehicle to the dealership on August 4, 2026. The dealership has retained it for investigation but has stated that it cannot duplicate the door incident. We have not been provided with an identified cause or a confirmed repair addressing the door opening and warning behavior. We have also reported recurring electronic problems and supplied the dealership with videos documenting those issues. I request that NHTSA investigate the door-latching mechanism and associated door-warning system, including whether an unsafe door condition can remain undetected or unreported until the door opens while driving.Read more

This car has stalled 3 times. Randomly, but each time while car was fully stopped. Once when I was sitting in a parking lot about to pull into traffic, and when waiting for a light to go from red to green. After these two times I took car to dealer. They ran diagnostics and said there were NO error codes. They tried to reproduce but could not. I asked them to reset all computers in car, which th
... ey did. But it happened again yesterday. This third time, weather is nice, about 68 degrees. I had been driving about 3 miles, waiting for a light to change. I believe the car went into “Auto stop”, like usual, but when light changed and I took foot off brake, car stalled. It then BEEPS rapidly at me, and I believe the warning message says something like “Can not start car in Drive, please put in Park”. As cars are behind me and honking furiously, I put drive selector into P, and push start button, it starts and I drive away. Safety issue is cars behind me, expecting me to move, and I can’t. I worry about being rear ended. Each time I believe car had gone into “Auto stop” mode to conserve gas. Each time Weather was clear and normal. One time it happened with my wife in car. I was not fiddling with any controls. I have other cars with “auto stop” and this never happens. I only use brand name high octane gas. I am contacting dealer about this third incident, but don’t have much hope that they will find anything to fix. Have you had any other complaints like this from other owners of this car? I saw that in past Genesis has had recall for faulty fuel pump. Is this maybe another fuel pump defect?? Thank you.Read more

The vehicle intermittently and unexpectedly shifts itself from Drive (D) into Park (P) while completely stopped in active traffic. When traffic moves and the accelerator is pressed, the engine revs safely in place, but the vehicle does not move because it has uncommandedly entered Park. The driver must quickly apply the brake and manually shift back into Drive to avoid being rear-ended. This has o
... ccurred on 6 separate occasions within the first two months of ownership, creating an immediate, severe collision hazard at active intersections. Dealer/Manufacturer Actions: The vehicle is currently on its 3rd service visit at Genesis of Lindon for this exact issue and has been out of service since August 10, 2026 (accounting for 11 business days on this visit alone, and over 20 calendar days total across all visits). The dealership has been unable to replicate the intermittent electronic/software fault during limited 15-mile test drives. No error codes are stored, and no dashboard warning chimes or lights appear when the uncommanded shift occurs. A corporate case has been opened with Genesis Motor America, and a formal written notice under the Utah New Motor Vehicles Warranties Act has been submitted. The vehicle is currently deemed unsafe to drive by the owner and remains at the dealership.Read more

This vehicle experienced an engine overheating failure while driving, five days after a cooling-system repair (radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs) had been completed at the dealership. The dashboard displayed an explicit "Engine has overheated" warning, and the vehicle could not continue to be driven. The vehicle was returned to the dealership. Per their own written statement, there
... were "no signs of engine damage related to the overheating concern" at that time. The vehicle's own mileage record shows it did not leave the dealership's lot for nearly a month afterward, despite a written claim that the shop foreman had personally test driven it before release. After that release, a fractured metal bracket was found in the engine compartment near the serpentine belt, along with multiple additional loose, missing, or unseated fasteners throughout the engine bay. The dealership's technician stated he had no reason to have inspected that area. The cause of the fracture and the discrepancy with the technician's account have not been resolved. Separately, the vehicle's Lane Keeping Assistance/Lane Departure Warning system has been non-functional, was twice described by the dealership's technician as "working," and both times disproven by independent testing showing the system displaying "system off." The vehicle has also been producing smoke while driving and idling, consistent with a fluid leak burning off a hot engine component, accompanied by a worsening chemical/exhaust-like odor in the cabin, not yet diagnosed. This is reported given the overheating history, the undiagnosed cabin odor with possible carbon monoxide exposure risk, and engine-bay damage discovered following dealership service, in case relevant to safety monitoring of this repair pattern.Read more

I own a 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T Twin-Turbo V6, VIN [XXX], with approximately 122,000 miles. Twice within approximately two weeks, the vehicle has suddenly and unexpectedly experienced a near-total loss of propulsion while being driven. Without warning, the engine begins shaking and sputtering severely, the Check Engine Light illuminates, and the vehicle provides almost no usable acceleration. The e
... ngine does not completely stall but operates barely above a stalled condition. After safely stopping, turning the vehicle off, and restarting it, normal engine operation and full power immediately return and the Check Engine Light extinguishes. The vehicle may then operate normally for days before the condition occurs again without warning. This creates a serious safety hazard because the failure could occur while traveling at highway speeds, merging, changing lanes, or crossing traffic. A sudden near-total loss of propulsion under those circumstances could result in a serious or fatal collision. I have found reports from other Genesis G70 owners describing substantially similar intermittent loss-of-power conditions that temporarily resolve after an ignition restart. Genesis has also issued safety recalls involving G70 powertrain-related conditions, including NHTSA Campaigns 24V-528 and 24V-191. I have formally notified Genesis Motor America in writing and requested immediate investigation and repair. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA has an independent record of this recurring and potentially dangerous loss-of-propulsion condition and can determine whether it represents a broader safety defect affecting Genesis G70 vehicles. On June 18 at approximately 9:50 p.m., I was driving my 2026 Genesis GV80 (6,493 miles) on a highway where traffic was reduced to one lane due to road paving. Traffic was heavily congested. I came to a complete stop behind a tractor-trailer on a flat/level roadway and remained stationary for approximately 30–40 seconds with my foot on the brake. The vehicle's automatic start/stop feature had bee
... n manually disabled. While completely stopped, the vehicle unexpectedly began moving forward toward the tractor-trailer despite my foot being on the brake pedal. I released and reapplied/pumped the brakes multiple times, but the vehicle continued moving forward. The brake pedal felt normal. I attempted to place the transmission into Park, but there was no response and no warning or message. The vehicle continued forward and contacted the rear of the tractor-trailer. After contact, the vehicle stopped and I was then able to place it in Park. When traffic began moving, I put the vehicle back into Drive. Because heavy traffic prevented me from safely exiting the lane, I remained in place but left additional distance from the tractor-trailer. The same condition occurred a second time: while again at a complete stop, the vehicle began moving forward with the brake pedal fully depressed. This time, I was able to place the vehicle in Park before contacting anything. There were no brake, transmission, or other warning lights/messages during either occurrence. However, the vehicle displayed a notification indicating I was making a telephone call when no call was occurring; it appeared to reference a call from earlier that evening. The unexpected forward movement occurred twice during the same driving event.Read more

At approximately 68k miles, I observed hesitation when pulling away from a stop in our 2023 GV80 2.5t AWD Prestige. At 71,300 miles, we observed an increasing howling noise from the rear of the vehicle, primarily at coasting, with various tones emitted during application and release of the accelerator pedal. The rear differential fluid was drained for inspection, and there were metal shavings accu
... mulated on the drain magnet, discolored (metallic shavings) fluid, and visible shiny metal flakes in the drained fluid. The differential is close to total failure on this vehicle. Hyundai has issued a TSB, so it is known, but they are not recalling this extreme safety hazard that has been reported for several years across many owners. A quick search of various owner forums reveals this truth. Moreover, replacement differentials do not improve the issue, often having to be replaced themselves only a short time later.Read more

In June 2026, after warranty repairs were performed on the vehicle's navigation/display system, a new safety-related problem occurred. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the rearview/backup camera image does not appear on the display. Instead, the navigation map remains on the screen. The vehicle has been at an authorized Genesis dealership since June 4, 2026, and the backup camera problem
... remains unresolved. The dealership has reproduced and confirmed the problem. According to the dealership, it requested authorization from Genesis to replace the backup camera, but the request was not approved. The dealership later requested authorization to replace the wiring harness, but that request was also not approved, and the part was not ordered. I was told that Genesis has continued attempting to address the problem through software. The dealership also advised me that similar issues have been reported with other vehicles of the same model, although I cannot independently verify those cases. This creates a safety concern because the rearview camera does not provide a view of the area behind the vehicle when it is shifted into reverse, increasing the risk of striking a person, vehicle, or object while backing up. The vehicle remains available at the authorized Genesis dealership for inspection. As of August 20, 2026, it has been out of service for 78 days and no confirmed repair solution has been provided.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding the handling of a safety recall on my 2023 Genesis GV80. During an approximately seven-week service visit at an authorized Genesis dealership, I was verbally informed that the applicable safety recall had been completed. Based on my subsequent interactions, Genesis Corporate also appeared to believe the recall had been performed. However, the recall was n
... ot documented on my repair order and was ultimately completed later by a different authorized Genesis dealership (Genesis of Weatherford). I am concerned that a safety recall had been verbally represented as completed when it had not actually been performed, resulting in my vehicle being returned to me with an outstanding safety recall still open. I request that NHTSA review the handling and documentation of this recall. The attached repair orders are all from the same visit, and incorrectly showing as two visits. The vehicle was dropped off at Norm Reeves Genesis of Irving on Jun 23, and remained in their possession until the vehicle was ultimately returned to me on August 11th. The recall was not completed, nor was the principle failure (P213800) remedied. This concern is particularly troubling because my vehicle has also experienced a separate recurring safety-related propulsion defect (P2138/P213800). After yet another authorized Genesis dealer recently returned the vehicle stating it could not reproduce that fault, it recurred within approximately 24 hours and caused the vehicle to enter reduced-power/limp mode while my wife and two young daughters were merging onto a highway. While this complaint concerns the handling of the recall itself, I believe the pattern of unresolved safety-related issues and inaccurate repair completion records warrants NHTSA's review. I have a case with Genesis Motor America, Case #43043015, thoroughly documenting all of this. Genesis has offered me no goodwill or viable remedy, aside from "try taking it to another dealer."Read more

Component Affected: Electrical / Interior Cabin Comfort / HVAC SystemsDescription of Defect:I am reporting an active thermal defect in the dashboard footprint of my 2021 Genesis GV80 AWD 3.5T. Following a 35-to-40-minute dynamic road test under engine load, severe heat migrates directly from the engine compartment into the passenger cabin. The instrument cluster panel and surrounding dashboard str
... uctures reach an extreme, verified temperature of 110°F, while the adjacent passenger vents measure standard cooling at 80°F.This severe cabin heat soak began immediately following an authorized dealership replacement of the air conditioning evaporator coil, requiring complete dashboard disassembly. The thermal failure strongly indicates a compromised bulkhead/firewall seal, displaced steering column boot, or an uninstalled engine-bay thermal insulation blanket, which allows high-temperature engine bay heat and air pressure to blow directly into the vehicle's internal electronic housing components.Safety Hazard:An instrument cluster panel reaching 110°F poses an immediate safety hazard. It creates a severe cabin driver distraction, generates a risk of physical burns upon contact with vehicle instrumentation, and risks causing a thermal breakdown or electrical fire within the vehicle's primary digital dashboard wiring harness.Dealer/Manufacturer Actions:Two separate authorized Genesis retailers have refused to conduct a 40-minute dynamic road test to recreate the thermal failure. Technicians performed only a brief, 3-minute static idle test inside a shop bay and declared the vehicle "operating as designed." Genesis Motor America corporate customer care has used these insufficient 3-minute static shop tests to prematurely close my consumer safety case. The manufacturer refuses to diagnose this vehicle under dynamic driving loads or inspect the firewall seals under the 12-month dealer repair workmanship warranty.
