Subject Castle Rock Radial ST 205/75/R14 tire was running 10 degrees F. hotter (around 110 F) than the three sibling tires after about 30 minutes of travel. This had been the case for an earlier trip of approximately 275 interstate miles. All of these tires are original equipment and similarly used and maintained. The tire eventually exploded (see uploaded pics). Subsequent inspection shows a
... bubble had formed between layers of the tread portion of the tire. The failed tire is available for inspection. Tire pressure before traveling in the morning was 65 p.s.i. (this is consistently maintained when in use). The load/speed ratings of these tires are D105/101L or 2039 lbs/75 m.p.h. Our running speed is typically 65 m.p.h. or less. The trailer weighs approximately 5600 pounds as loaded. Likely due to a combination of this safety margin in both weight and speed along with a weight distributing hitch with a stabilizer bar, we did not lose control of the vehicle when the tire failed. We were able to pull onto the emergency apron of the interstate immediately and replace the failed tire with a spare tire (not the original spare). The original matching spare with zero miles of use on the road suffered a similar fate (bubble/tire layer separation) in 2022 (NHTSA Reference No. 11490675). The failed tire was taken to a nearby tire center where it was inspected and replaced with a new tire. Subsequent to this trip, the remaining three (3) OEM Castle Rock tires have been replaced due to their high failure rate (40% to date for us).Read more

On multiple occasions when driving at speeds over ~50 MPH, and hitting a bump or hole in the road (highways), a terrifying wobble occurs in the steering wheel. It is shaking so violently that it also feels as though the suspension, steering, and maybe other components are compromised. I am concerned that this is an issue that could lead to severe accident / injury / fatality. I am able to regain c
... ontrol of the vehicle after slowing and pulling off the road. I’m fortunate enough that these incidents have thus far happened during times of low traffic where I’ve been able to pull to the shoulder and regain control. I’m very concerned that it could happen when that’s not feasible or that the vehicle could lose control altogether at highway speed. I’m also incredibly concerned that Jeep dealers in my area weren’t able to accept my vehicle for weeks and wouldn’t offer any options for loaner / rental support. It feels to me like Jeep is accepting the risk that serious injury / accident / fatality could occur vs prioritizing consumer safety.Read more

A gear part was found within the Transmission when the transmission pan was removed. The Vehicle did not give any warning signs or any faulty messages of the part that was broken. The car dealer then proceeded to flush the transmission which caused the transmission to fail completely. This is due to the fact that there was not a transmission fault error displayed on the panel to indicate a problem
... or concern. The dealer also stated that after flushing the transmission, the service technician test drove it and confirmed that it was shifting correctly. When I paid and drove it off the lot, the car buckled, stopped in the middle of traffic, and I was unable to drive it at that moment, and was not able to reverse. This caused a safety issue that was unnecessary not only for me but other drivers on the road. After pushing it to the side of the road, I managed to re-start it several times, and managed to take it to a professional Transmission service center called Miramar Transmission and they determined that there was a problem, and the engine light should have come on indicating that there was a problem. The dealer that did not help but actually helped to exacerbate the problem (Pedder in Poway, CA) should not have flushed it with the knowledge that a gear was the known culprit or defect. It is a known fact to NEVER FLUSH a transmission with known internal issues.Read more

On a clear sunny day driving on the freeway at 75mph on a 70mph speed limit, the regular cruise control(not Autopilot) was engaged. Experienced 4 separate incidents of strong emergency brakes being activated by the vehicle automatically for 2-3 secs, dropping speed by 10-15mph. As the driver I disengaged the cruise control by strongly accelerating the vehicle. Also multiple incidents of brakes
... engaging slightly for 1 second , always when driving on a straight freeway, with zero other vehicles present in the front or rear. The road had a slight incline then a slight decline. Just as the vehicle reaches the top of the incline the brakes activated. No warning lamps of sounds, just immediate sharp braking one all incidents. As the driver I felt very unsafe, and glad there were no vehicles close behind, which could have resulted in a rear collision. Vehicle has not been inspected by any party. Two owners of Forest River Georgetown Class A motorhomes, one a 2020 model year and one a 2022 model year, reported on a forum that one of the two brackets holding their 24.5 gallon water capacity ASME propane tank in place had its tack welds break, allowing one end of the tank to drop so far it was visible by passing cars. Both reported they were flagged down by people passing them. (The end of t
... he propane tank likely was bouncing up and down on the remaining bracket.) Both used a strap to hold the tank in place until the bracket could be re-welded. Both reported that the repair shop then installed two bolts through the front and rear bracket to help hold the tank in place if the welds broke again. Neither owner took a picture of the propane tank hanging down so the attached pictures show their brackets after the repair. 24.5 gallons water capacity is about 19.6 actual gallons of propane at 80%. On my motorhome a visual inspection of the affected brackets did not reveal cracked welds but did show that the front bracket on the propane tank itself was installed slightly off and the inner edge of the front tank bracket is against a welded corner of the bracket instead of flat against the front frame bracket. Light is visible in the gap between the tank mounting bracket and the frame mounting bracket. If other tanks are like this it could mean that the upward pressure from tightening the inner tank mounting bolt applied stress to the welded bracket where there should not have been any. (The approximate date of those two failures is unknown however the 2022 model year owner reported they had the repair covered under warranty. I thus selected today's date because the form field has a date as mandatory.) (I had to select Aftermarket Equipment as BAL OTHER because "OTHER" was not allowed. I do not know who installs the propane tank mounting structure. It could either be the final vehicle manufacturer or the third-party upfitter they use for similar work.)Read more

Engine fail, no warning till it happened, her car just stopped at night in the middle of the road while she was driving, she then smelled something burning and got right out of the car and called a tow truck. The car was towed to a Hyundai dealership where we were later told it was an engine block, and the car was basically burning gas. Cars been in the shop since January because the engine had to
... be shipped in parts from overseas. When the new engine had finally arrived, they took the old engine out and saw that the Pistons headshot shrapnel through the starter and through this turbo part, which is also now on back order. I do not know if the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, or the police. I feel very uneasy about the safety of this vehicle given everything that’s happened and even though it’s showing that it’s not on the recall list from what I’m reading and what I understand everything that’s happened the vehicle should’ve been recalled. With the new findings of the shrapnel shooting through the car knowing that that could’ve been a catastrophic incident I could’ve killed my daughter is very unsettling. Incident date: Oct 15, 2022
The issue with the car first occurred in 2021 when the vehicle had 109,000 miles. I was driving on the interstate returning from visiting my family when the car began to behave erratically. It started to seize, stall, and accelerated on its own. All of the lights illuminated on the dashboard with the error message hybrid engine, air pull over immediately. This was a serious event because my life a
... s well as others were impacted. The car had just enough power to make it off of the shoulder when it died completely and had to be towed to the nearest dealership. They recommended I have the hybrid battery replaced which I did. That did not correct the issue because less than a year later in 2022 I was once again returning home and the car begin to do the same thing. Stalls, seizes, accelerates on its own and the same lights, the same warning message, and completely loses power when you’re driving! It was again towed to a dealership and this time they recommended I have the spark plugs replaced. The spark plugs were replaced and the day that the car was repaired and picked up it had to then be towed back just a few miles down the road with the same strange behavior, and the same issues. Clearly the recommended repairs are not fixing the root cause problem. And now three times my life as well as other motorists’ lives have been put in danger! I am tired of paying for recommended repairs that are not fixing the root issue when there are several hundred other persons who have been experiencing similar dangerous issues like mine with their vehicles. Kia needs to do something about this!Read more

I took my Jeep to get serviced on March 16, 2023 for a 'service shifter' light. This had already been replaced before and had a 2 year warranty so this was fixed however my issue now lies that last week around April 20, 2023, I got another light indicating "service 4wd". I took my car to the dealership today to be told the diagnosis was "internal PTO failure". I was quoted an insane amount to repa
... ir and was told that the part is not available as it is on BACK ORDER. After looking this information up online I see that Jeep had multiple recalls for this same issue for vehicles 2014-2017 however mine is not appearing on the recall. I called Jeep and was told there was nothing they can do and I'm extremely upset because the simple fact that the part is on back order let's me know that this is a common issue that others must be having as well yet Jeep has yet to take any action for their faulty equipment. This poses an immense danger for me because the repricautions are that if I drive my vehicle I am risking my life in that the car might come to a complete stop mid drive. Should I be in an accident I can only hope Jeep will take accountability for their ignorance and delayed responses. If Jeep is aware of PTU/PTO issues with their vehicles ALL jeeps within the 2014-2017 timeline should be eligible for this replacement under the recall and the part should be mass produced to ensure every customer gets from point A to point B safely. When driving my car home from the dealership I felt my car tug when making a sharp left turn and my car swiveled immediately thereafter. I also noticed that it is taking immense amount of effort for my car to accelerate when pressing the gas which terrifies me that it will simply come to a complete stop and jeopardize my life at any given moment. This needs to be addressed ASAP and a new recall needs to be issued to remediate this error.Read more

The trunk latch in my 2016 Hyundai Elantra is broken. I brought it to the dealer in 12/2022 and showed it to them, and it had been failing for some time. I can’t afford that so I didn’t have it done. It co
... mpletely doesn’t work now. You can’t open it. If you are lucky and get it open then you can’t close it. It is barely closed right now. Light on panel inside the car is on saying the trunk is open. If I am driving and hit a bump it could fly open. The guy at the dealer ordered the part and told me to use painters tape to keep it shut in the meantime like I know what I am doing. It will cost me $400 to fix—I am on Social Security and don’t have $400–and I don’t have access to my spare tire if I get a flat tire. There was a recall for this exact part for 2016 Hyundai Elantras but it didn’t include my VIN number. Sounds to me like it should have. The dealership sent me on my way with my trunk still just barely closed. Use painters tape. Couldn’t even help me secure it. I need to figure out out how to secure it on my own as I need to drive in the highway. Don’t know what happens if I need the spare. I don’t know why it wasn’t included in the original recall. There were other 2016 Elantras. I am basically on my own on this. Nobody has paid a bit of interest. Dealer told me to call Hyundai. Hyundai told me to call dealer. Who’s on first? Vehicle is available for inspection. Soon after I bought this car last April I realized it's VERY difficult to see how fast I am going in certain areas that are shadowed, especially on cloudy/overcast days. I have the lights set as bright as they will go but when I get in darker areas during the day I can just barely make out the tips to the 50/60 mph marks and a lot of times when it's cloudy over
... cast and I get in a darker spot I can't even SEE the tips of the 50/60 mph marks. Turning on the headlights doesn't help at all. I constantly have to "guess" what my speed is and that's a safety issue. I believe the problem stems from a combination of how far back the dash is set and the black cowl that protrudes out over the area. I think the area should be backlit like computer keys or somehow made to light up the way it does at night. I even tried to put some small LED lights in there but they were too dim to help. Another problem I have noticed with this car is that if I have my lights on I can't see my backup camera either, so if I want to back up in a parking garage or during a rainy day when I have my lights on, I first have to turn off my lights so I can use my backup camera.Read more

The HVBJB (high-voltage battery junction box) subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with insufficiently robust main contactors that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in NHTSA Campaign Number 22V412000. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only after damage has occurred
... , and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes, as well as failure of other 12V systems due to inability to charge the 12V battery properly after contactors are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start, which can strand drivers and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, and also cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new, more robust HVBJB. My complaint is that Ford's recall under campaign 22V412000 is a software-only attempt to prevent future damage, and does not require the part(s) which are KNOWN to fail to be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially stranding me in unsafe conditions unable to restart my vehicle. I would like to see NHTSA strengthen the Ford recall to include both improved software AND removal/replacement of the HVBJB sub-assembly with the new, more robust parts without a known failure risk. Thank you very much for your time.Read more

I believe they know it's a common issue but haven't done a recall. $2000 it's a lot of money to spend on new headlights, especially when I did not do anything to cause this issue. Acura should be responsible. This is a big safety issue. The date the problem started was when i purchased the vehicle in 2019Read more
