I WANTED TO BRING SOMETHING TO YOUR ATTENTION, (I SENT THIS TO THE MANUFACTURER WITH NO RESPONSE) I JUST PURCHASED THE ABOVE CAMPER TRAILER ON OCTOBER 3, 2020, TOOK IT TO GET THE TIRES BALANCED ON OCTOBER 6, 2020, WHEN THE TECH STARTED TO BALANCE THE FIRST TIRE, THE TECH COULD HEAR SOMETHING MOVING INSIDE THE TIRE, SO I ASKED HIM TO TAKE THE TIRE OFF AND SEE WHAT IT WAS. E ATTACHED PHOTOS, THERE WERE SEVERAL LARGE AND SMALL PIECES OF STAINLESS STEEL CLAMP MATERIAL INSIDE THE TIRE, EATING AWAY FROM THE TIRE INSIDE OUT, THE SS CAME FROM THE TST TRUCK TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, OUR FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT SOMEONE FROM THE FACTORY WAS JUST TOSSING THE SCRAPS FROM THE CLAMPS IN THE TIRE BUT AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT APPEARS THAT THE EXCESS OF THE CLAMP, THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7.5' OF SCRAP IN EACH TIRE. THIS IS COMING FROM THE FACTORY LIKE THIS!! THE DIRECTIONS FROM THE TST INSIDE THE TIRE SYSTEM CLEARLY STATES THAT THE EXCESS NEEDS TO BE REMOVED TO PREVENT TIRE DAMAGE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A LIFE SAFETY HAZARD THAT I THOUGHT THAT SOMEONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IT. I GOT LUCKY AND CAUGHT IT WHEN I GOT MY TIRES BALANCED. FOREST RIVER INSTALLS THESE SENSORS IN ALL THEIR TRAILERS, I CANNOT IMAGE HOW MANY UNITS ARE ON THE ROAD WITH THIS HAZARD INSIDE THEIR TIRES.Read more

TRAILER IS RATED AT 9600# HAS 4400# AXLES INSTALLED. SPRINGS, SHACKLES AND BOLTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. LATEST FAILURE WAS A HUB BREAK WHILE UNDERWAY CAUSING LEFT REAR WHEEL TO LOCKUP. THE GOOD NEWS IS, WE ARE ALSO FINDING THIS BEND IS NOT IN ALL 195/196. FROM WHAT I CAN TELL THIS SEEM TO BE EITHER A DEFECT IN THE FRAME MANUFACTURING OR IN MANUFACTURING INSTALLATION WHERE THE FRAME IS FORCED TO FIT THE SHAPE OF THE FRONT CURVE OF THE POD. THERE IS A SECONDARY FRAME INSIDE (I LABELED IT 'SCREEN FRAME?') THAT HAS LOTS OF BENDS ON THE SIDES, I DON'T THINK THIS HAS ANY IMPACT ON THE GLASS, BUT DOES INDICATE THAT THE FRAME WAS TWISTED TO GET INSTALLED. I DISCONNECTED THE WIRE AND THAT WAS ON FIRE (AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE) AND FOLLOWED IT TO THE FRONT PIN BOX OF THE TRAILER WHERE I FOUND A AUTO RESET BREAKER THAT WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY (NOT SECURED IN A METAL GROUNDED BOX
... ) AND WAS SHORTING TO GROUND. THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE WIRING TO CATCH FIRE. THIS WIRE WAS THE CHARGE CIRCUIT COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS TIED DIRECTLY TO THE TRAILERS BATTERY. THIS CAUSED THE WIRE TO RECEIVE POWER FROM THE TRAILERS BATTERY'S AND WITH THE LUG OF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER SHORTED TO GROUND IT BURNED ALL THE PLASTIC OFF THE WIRE AND CAUSED THE OTHER PLASTIC LOOM AND WIRES TO CATCH FIRE. THE ELECTRIC BRAKE WIRES ON THE RIGHTHAND HUB FELL OUT OF THE SPLICES. THE TOP CABINET ABOVE THE SINK WOULD HAVE FELL DOWN BUT I HAD BUILT A SHELF UNDER IT BEFORE WE LEFT ON OUR EXCURSION. WE BOUGHT 2020 R-POD 172 OFF ROAD PACKAGE TRAVEL TRAILER IN DEC OF 2019 TO BE TAKEN TO PRIMITIVE CAMPGROUNDS. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO IT WHEN WE TOOK IT ON A 25 MILE COUNTY ROAD IN MONTANA. IT WAS TOWED AT A AVERAGE SPEED OF 10 TO 20 MILES AN HOUR ON THE TRIP TO THE CAMPGROUND: THE REFRIGERATOR BROKE LOOSE FROM THE 4 SCREWS HOLDING IT AND SLIDE BACK, LUCKILY THE PROPANE LINE DIDN'T BREAK OFF, AL
... SO THE REFRIGERATOR HAD BEEN IN FOR WARRANTY WORK IN JANUARY 2020 BECAUSE THE REFRIGERATOR WAS MOUNTED IN FROM THE FACTORY. THE EXIT DOOR GOT STUCK AND WE HAD TO CRAWL OUT THE EMERGENCY EXIT WINDOW. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL FELL OUT OF THE WALL. THE MICROWAVE BROKE LOOSE FROM THE 4 TINY SCREWS HOLDING IT IN PLACE. THE SINK WAS JUST SCREWED UP TO THE BOTTOM OF THE COUNTER TOP WITH THREE WOOD SCREWS WHICH BROKE THE COUNTER AND FELL DOWN. THE THREE WINDOW VALANCES BROKE LOOSE AND WERE HANGING DOWN. THE ELECTRIC BRAKE WIRES ON THE RIGHTHAND HUB FELL OUT OF THE SPLICES. THE TOP CABINET ABOVE THE SINK WOULD HAVE FELL DOWN BUT I HAD BUILT A SHELF UNDER IT BEFORE WE LEFT ON OUR EXCURSION. EVERYTHING THAT BROKE OR FELL OFF ON THIS TRIP COULD HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED IF FOREST RIVER WOULD HAVE JUST TOOK A LITTLE TIME TO EVALUATE THEIR MANUFACTURING PROCESS, BUT I GUESS THEY ARE MORE INTERESTED IN GETTING THEM OUT TO THE DEALER TO SELL THEN PRODUCING A QUALITY PRODUCT.Read more
