I own a 2020 Ford Explorer with approximately 85,776 miles. The vehicle has experienced two separate loss-of-propulsion events in traffic. On both occasions, the vehicle suddenly lost power while driving and stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. There was no prior warning of imminent engine failure. After stalling, the vehicle would crank but would not restart. The vehicle was disabled in
... the intersection for approximately 45 minutes to one hour each time. My family was inside the vehicle during these incidents. The vehicle displayed multiple malfunction warnings including “Shift System Fault” and messages indicating the vehicle was not in Park even when the shifter was in the Park position. The dealership, Hansel Ford of Petaluma, verified the concern and referenced Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-2249 related to internal transmission components, including the valve body and park pawl actuator system. The dealership confirmed that when the vehicle is placed in Park, it may actually remain in Neutral. This creates an additional safety risk of unintended vehicle movement. This issue presents a serious safety hazard due to: •Sudden loss of propulsion in traffic •Vehicle disabled in active intersections •Extended inability to restart •Potential rollaway risk due to Park malfunction The vehicle is currently pending major transmission-related repairs. I am submitting this complaint due to concerns about loss of propulsion and park system malfunction creating a safety risk for occupants and surrounding traffic.Read more

NHTSA Recall Number23V905 Recall Status recall Incomplete Ford performed an interim engine repair in 2024. Due to the unavailability of parts when the recall was initiated, it took approximately 8 months for the interim engine and repair to be completed. I received my car back in August 2024 and then a supplement to the recall was placed. After getting the car back, my check engine light came on
... but Ford advised that it didn't have anything to do with the engine replacement and associated parts. Then I began experiencing symptoms of a valve purge issue and received an EVAP code. I attempted to address this at the dealership during routine maintenance but it was not checked or repaired. In January 2026, my engine failed again with similar symptoms. It was towed to the same dealership where they informed me that I was out of warranty on the engine and my new issue had to do with coolant intrusion. When I checked my service records, they had noted that a coolant hose was broken and replaced during recall repairs. Additionally there is a recall for other 2016 Ford Focus coolant intrusions caused by a heater block. This leads me to believe that the repair may have been faulty. Additionally, the 23V905 recall is still open with a supplement to the original.Read more

I have a 2022 Ford Maverick XL Hybrid and the system that failed is the rear lighting system, specifically the tail lamps, brake lamps, and rear turn signals. This appears to be related to the Body Control Module (BCM) software, which was the subject of Ford Recall 24S27 affecting many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks. The failure began on my vehicle with the left rear tail lamp assembly (running light,
... brake light, and turn signal), and within approximately two minutes the right rear tail lamp assembly also stopped functioning. Since that time, the entire rear lighting system has been inoperative while driving. This issue creates an extremely serious safety hazard. While driving, my vehicle has no functioning rear running lights, brake lights, or turn signals. This means other drivers cannot see when I am braking, signaling a turn, or even driving at night. This significantly increases the risk of rear-end collisions or other traffic accidents, especially in low visibility conditions. I was unaware of the issue until visually noticing it when unlocking the vehicle, and there were no dashboard alerts to warn me prior to that either. Loveland Ford in Loveland, Colorado inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the rear lighting system is not functioning. However, instead of addressing the known Recall 24S27 Body Control Module software issue, they stated that LED bulbs were installed where halogen bulbs should be and issued an $816 estimate to replace the bulbs. I have never performed any aftermarket modifications, and the vehicle has only been serviced by Ford dealerships. The vehicle has been inspected by Loveland Ford, an authorized Ford dealership. Ford customer service confirmed that Recall 24S27 exists for this exact issue in many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks but stated there is no record of my VIN receiving the recall remedy, which could mean the recall was never accomplished. No warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other alerts appeared prior to the failure.Read more

The text of that recall is as follows: "Safety recal

In affected vehicles, battery junction-box relay or fuse corrosion can lead to a loss of low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps while driving. This action affects 13,564 vehicles in Canada. Affected vehicles were built at Cuautitlán Assembly Plant from June 25, 2011, through April 27, 2013. Dealers will clean the battery junction box, install foam sealing to the cover and replace any corroded fuses, terminals or relays. There will be no charge to the customer for these services. It should be noted, recall 23S65 has already been done prior to this incident. On 12/27/2025, while driving northbound on I65, south of Louisville KY, I lost the rear differential. I was in the middle lane and had to get over to the emergency lane while towing an unloaded flatbed trailer weighing about 4000 lbs. I was almost struck by a couple trucks but was able to get over into the emergency
... lane. I had my passenger check the differential and saw that while in “drive” the driveshaft was turning freely while I was still stopped. I was able to get the truck off the highway by putting it in 4wd and use the front wheels to drive. I do not remember any warning lamps during this incident. I found a dealer that was close by (Town and Country Ford Louisville) and parked the truck. A week later the dealer confirmed the axles shafts had broken and would need replaced. These are the same axles that were replaced in accordance with the recall. As of 2/16/2026 Ford still does not have any axles for replacement and they are on a national back order totaling over 63,000 units.Read more
