While driving down the highway I suddenly heard a loud bang and what looked like smoke came out from the area by the front passenger seatbelt. The seatbelt had suddenly retracted fully and locked. Thankfully the seat was unoccupied at the time, so nobody was injured by this. After contacting Ford corporate we were finally able to bring in for inspection 06/01/2026 to confirm what we already knew about the broken seatbelt retractor. The dealership relayed this info to Ford, and Ford told them not to fix it at this time. When we called the dealership 06/08 they relayed that info to us. We then requested that Ford provide us a loaner vehicle. The dealership called us back 06/09 to let us know that Ford would not be providing a loaner vehicle. Our front passenger seat is occupied about 95% of the time, and that seatbelt is completely unusable. We have not been given any kind of timeline for when it can be repaired, and have no other option but to drive it the way it is. It is illegal and we are forced to put the life of one of our family members at risk because we do not have any extra seats or the money to buy yet another vehicle or pay for a rental as we are still paying for this vehicle that we bought less than a year ago.Read more

The Ford 2.0L EcoBoost engine has known issue of coolant in cylinders which causes misfires. Ford has yet to issue a recall on this engine. They have redesigned the engine to solve the known problem. The Engine Longblock Assembly has failed. We have followed the "Customer Satisfaction Program 23N06" instructions from Ford since receipt of the letter from Ford dated July 2024. The coverage date was extended to 150,000 miles because Ford knew that the engine in this 2020 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid was very likely to fail and die on the highway, and even possibly catch fire. ... became aware of in Ford Recall 26S34 (NHTSA Campaign 26V344), however our 2019 Ford Edge is not included in the recal campaign. This is a repeatable malfunction which occurred many times over the course of the summer of 2025. The local Ford dealership was not helpful and, at that time, indicated replacement retractor mechanisms were unavailable when I reported the issue to them. I performed an inspection of the unit and reported the issue to the local Ford dealership. I am a retired Accident Investigation Officer from the Illinois State Police and hold a degree in Aerospace Engineering so I am comfortable in reporting this as a product defect. The vehicle does not indicate there is a problem through any type of error light or message. The only way to know it has occurred is to attempt to put on the seat belt and hope it is usable.Read more

I own a 2020 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L V8 engine and have under 60,000 miles on the vehicle. I had my car fixed from a recall for an engine oil pump or something like that. After it was fixed, my car will shut off when I’m at a stop light or while I’m driving. It is not safe and scares me. My check engine light will come on and off, and my local dealership won’t help unless the check engine light is on when I bring it in. This has been going on since early May.

The transmission has a cdf drum failure which causes it to lurch forward randomly with several near miss accidents. It is completely unsafe to drive. It hangs up on gears and accelerates on its own with no press of the accelerator. Ford says it's $10000 to fix it but
... they know about it, created a tsb and never recalled. These trucks are a hazard and should not be driven until fixed. I don't drive the truck anymore and definitely won't put my toddler in the truck since it lurched and almost wrecked in an intersection. More near misses in that truck because of this failure than I care to keep track of. Now, it sits. It runs and looks pretty, but transmission is garbage and a hazard.Read more

The rear camera image remains dark, unclear, visually deficient, and unsafe, creating a continuing hazard when the vehicle is operated in reverse. This is not a cosmetic or convenience issue. A defective rearview camera materially impairs rear visibility and increases the risk of collision, property damage, or injury. Federal safety authorities have recognized rearview camera failures as safety concerns because blank, distorted, inverted, delayed, frozen, or unclear images can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle and increase crash risk. NHTSA recall materials for Ford rearview camera defects describe the safety consequence as reduced rear visibility and increased crash risk when the rearview camera displays a distorted, inverted, or blank image. (static.nhtsa.gov) After I raised the unresolved condition, Ford claimed or suggested that the issue may be due to an aftermarket radio allegedly installed in the vehicle. I dispute that explanation. Gears stopped engaging while driving. After diagnostic, the shop asked me to replace the transmission. The repair shop would have my old transmission after I get the car repaired. I won't have it in my possession. As I was driving on M39 on my way to work, car was making creaking whining noise when changing gears and suddenly, it stopped changing gears in the middle of a fast moving, narrow high
... way. I had to pull over to inspect the issue. Didn't see any warning lights at the time. Drive engaged again, which allowed me to take the car to work but once there, reverse stopped engaging completely and there was a significant delay for drive to engage. This is when the warning lights and messages came on. Brighton Ford dealership in Brighton MI has confirmed that there are metal shavings in the transmission and reverse gear no longer engages. I have been asked to replace the transmission My car only gets serviced at Brighton Ford. I was not told about any transmission issues. All the inspections that they performed during routine services did not result in any concerns. I did not notice any transmission issues in my vehicle prior to that morning. I am having a lead frame issue. At various speeds, the vehicle will just down shift, locking the tires and causing a hazard for other drivers which could be a very dangerous situation. I was impacted from the rear due to this occurrence. It causes extreme jerkiness when doing this which is also injurious to my back and neck and shoulders.
