My 2021 Ford Edge has experienced ongoing transmission issues for an extended period including delayed engagement into Reverse, flashing gear indicator lights before Reverse engagement, harsh/jumpy shifting during acceleration and deceleration, and intermittent shuddering. The vehicle previously required a torque converter replacement performed by a Ford dealership, however the symptoms continued
... after the repair. Today, while driving on the highway, the vehicle experienced repeated loss of power and hesitation while attempting to accelerate and maintain speed. During one highway merge, the vehicle failed to respond normally while accelerating and I was nearly struck by a semi-truck because I could not safely match traffic speed. Shortly afterward, while exiting the highway, the vehicle suddenly jolted violently and began making loud grinding noises accompanied by severe shuddering. The transmission/drivetrain appeared to fail completely, making the vehicle unsafe to continue operating. I stopped driving immediately and had the vehicle towed to the same Ford dealership that previously replaced the torque converter. I am submitting this complaint because the transmission failure created a serious safety hazard involving loss of propulsion at highway speeds, unsafe merging conditions, and risk of collision.Read more

The recall for the backup camera has been open since october with no remedy. This seems like an excessive amount of time and is giving me trouble selling my vehicle. How long is the manufacturer given to remedy the issue?
Incident date: Jan 23, 2024
The rear backup camera is malfunctioning; I researched vehicle recalls and found Ford does not have a remedy for this recall. This puts my family in a dangerous situation when backing the car up. I have damaged the vehicle while driving in reverse and lucky to have not sustained injury from this occasion. Why has Ford not come up with a remedy and has not been held accountable.

I did a complete walk around inspection. There were no issues, everything looked fine. We continued on and about 20 miles later another vehicle driver was telling me frantically to pull over. I looked a

I know the importance of doing it properly., Thankfully there was a good place to pull over. I tried to extinguish the fire with my extinguisher but it was too hot. I was unable to disconnect from the motorhome. Both are a total loss. I think of all the places this could have happened and how trapped we could have been. By the grace of God, nobody was injured. Yes there is a police report and an insurance claim. There were no warning signs. My braking system runs on its own battery so there was no draw on the Ford battery. Ford did an update on the computer the night prior. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

This is a common issue with these S197 Mustangs. The steering position sensor failed. Nothing malfunctioned. All I was asking for was a fender to hood adjustment and the dealership kept telling me they don't do that and that I would need to go to a bodyshop. The fender to hood alignment issue didn't put others at risk. What the problem is is the door is not aligned based on OEM requirements and the recall repair was completed but not done correctly. The problem has been identified
... by the dealer. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer. No warning lights or anything. Simply dealership refusing to get my door realigned. After taking it to body shop 3 times and still this problem has not been fixed. This is unacceptable especially since it was a recall through the manufacturer. Also when I asked dealership for proof in writing that they don't do their own bodywork the service advisor told me no. That is also unacceptable. I should be given my proper recall documentation whenever I ask for it.Read more

I had my transmission replaced in California on Feb 2025. Had failure issues and took it to ford, they found an issue with the torque converter and replaced 7 months after the new transmission, it was cleaned out for debris and contamination. Early this May took it in again for the vehicle violently shaking, the ford Mechanic before inspecting immediately knew what transmission I had and knew what
... issue was, said all the 6F35 transmissions are failing. Took it to my local ford dealership who confirmed that the whole transmissions needs to be replaced again. Less than 20k miles on it. Of course this transmission had a law suit filed which was dismissed. Frustrating because it is clearly a known issue. I am currently #10 on the national waitlist for a new transmission. During the course of the region cycle, vehicle began to smoke excessively and realizing this wan not normal, I was able to yield to the right shoulder of the roadway. Almost immediately the vehicle ignited on fire and completely burned to the ground.
... The fire appeared to have commenced in the engine compartment, driver side near the firewall. The location of which appears to be consistent with reports of fuel filter failures I have read about in the past. The resulting fire ignited nearby brush which burned several hundred feet of brush and resulted in the spillage of diesel fuel and coolant which combined from the resulting melting of the coolant system and fuel tank and lines. This incident put both me and surrounding communities at risk, particularly from the resulting fire and HAZMAT spill. The vehicle was in good running condition prior to this incident. I own a 2018 Ford Escape equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. My vehicle experienced a known coolant intrusion defect in which coolant leaks internally into the engine cylinders. This issue appears consistent with problems reported by many other owners of similar Ford vehicles and engine configurations. The vehicle experienced symptoms including coolant loss without an external leak, engine mi
... sfires, rough operation, and diagnostic trouble codes including P0316. The condition progressed to a determination that the engine requires replacement due to coolant entering the combustion chamber. This defect creates a significant safety concern because the engine can suddenly misfire, lose power, hesitate, run roughly, or potentially stall while driving. Sudden loss of power during traffic, highway travel, merging, or intersections creates a risk of collision. Ford has issued service bulletins and customer programs involving coolant intrusion and engine replacement on similar 1.5L EcoBoost vehicles, yet my VIN was reportedly excluded despite suffering the same failure pattern. This appears to be a design-related defect rather than ordinary wear and tear, which ford subsequently completely altered as they recognize the design failure. An internal engine defect causing coolant intrusion and catastrophic engine failure presents a potential safety issue affecting numerous consumers.Read more

With speeds in excess of 70 MPH, the car have a violent shake. The shake gets worse as you approach 80 MPH. This is in both the 2025 and 2026 Ford Expedition models. This put drivers at risk, as they must keep control of the car at all times on the highway if they are in excess of 70 MPH. The car has already been inspected by Ford and they did a road balance test and replaced one tire. The car sti

Since before September 2025, the driver’s side rear TPMS sensor has been intermittently showing a TPMS fault while the vehicle is already in motion. The vehicle is still under the bumper to bumper warranty. This fault is not always on, but it does comes on while driving. The vehicle always shows the fault in the rear driver’s TPMS sensor. I brought the vehicle to a Ford dealer on September 2
... 3, 2025 and they said the tire pressure was low, but upon leaving the dealership the issue came back. The car was brought to a Ford dealer again for the issue on May 2, 2026 and they said the issue couldn’t be replicated and suggested the issue may be a wired baby monitor (due to radio frequency interference) however the wired baby monitor does not emit any radio frequency. We alerted Ford’s corporate customer care and they set up a second opinion at another dealer for May 9, 2026 but when we brought the car that dealer turned us away claiming to not have a record of the appointment. This is an issue of safety as the sensor fault consistently shows at highway speeds (70 mph+). The sensors cannot be trusted which can potentially lead to an accident due to a blow out at high speeds. At this time, Ford has not been helpful in getting this safety issues resolved. If you google the issue, there are plenty of forums talking about the same issue with their Mustang Mach E.Read more

The recall is 10 months old and no remedy offered. Every time I get behind tge wheel I'm risking an injury or death of myself or someone else. I can't sell my vehicle because it would put the next owner at risk. Do I have to wait until there's an injury or death to have something done about this?

The vehicle experienced a sudden steering malfunction involving the electronic steering gear. While backing out of a parking structure, the steering wheel suddenly jerked and locked instead of naturally correcting, resulting in collision with a pillar. There were no warning lights, steering fault messages, or prior symptoms before the incident. Restarting the vehicle did not resolve the issue. Th
... e dealership confirmed the issue and documented “loss of communication with steering gear,” “internal steering gear failure,” and “no signs of damage causing failure.” The steering gear is being replaced under warranty. The failure created a safety risk because steering response suddenly changed without warning. I am concerned the incident could have resulted in a more serious crash had it occurred at higher speed or during active traffic instead of inside a parking structure. Multiple tow attempts through Ford Roadside Assistance reportedly struggled to move the vehicle afterward due to the steering issue. The failed steering gear component is currently being replaced by the dealership.Read more

I own a 2017 Ford Escape equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. The vehicle began experiencing severe coolant loss with no visible external leaks, requiring nearly a full coolant reservoir refill daily. Along with the coolant loss, the vehicle developed constant bubbling/gurgling noises from the cooling system, rough cold starts, engine shaking/misfires, intermittent failure to start, loss of acc
... eleration, and “Engine Fault Service Now” warnings on the dashboard. Diagnostic scans revealed persistent cylinder 2 misfire codes, additional cylinder 3 misfire codes, and a crankshaft position sensor intermittent code (P0339). Replacing/swapping ignition coils and spark plugs did not resolve the issue. After researching the symptoms and speaking with Ford, the vehicle appears to match the well-documented coolant intrusion issue associated with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. The coolant loss and misfires create serious safety concerns due to sudden loss of power, unreliable engine operation, and the possibility of complete engine failure while driving. Ford Corporate declined assistance despite the vehicle exhibiting symptoms consistent with the known defect and despite the vehicle being purchased during the timeframe when Ford’s customer satisfaction program related to this issue was active.Read more

When using the rear camera while towing a trailer, the image is partially blocked by a persistent message stating “full view not available”. This creates a safety issue as it obscures the driver’s view of the trailer and/or the trailer load. It is critical to be able to monitor the trailer and the load during towing to ensure a hazardous condition is not developing. I believe the rear view
... camera is working as designed, that is I do not believe there is a defect or failure in the hardware. However the design of the message is the problem. If the driver needs to know that “full view not available” then the message should be moved to a different part of the screen to not obscure the view of the trailer.Read more
