I have always maintained the vehicle and drive the vehicle well. The car just started stuttering when driving and the torque converter for the transmission failed. It doesn’t even have many miles. I’m sure this is a common complaint that needs addressed and recalled because there wasn’t anything done to contribute to this problem. It has been parked since this first occurred in 2024.

The transmission begin to stall and would not shift. The motor would get to high RPMS and then shift hard into the next gear. I was able to pull over and the TCM error code popped up on the dash. I was able to get the car to the dealer. I was notified that the TCM failed and Ford would no longer cover this failed part. The car is a 2012 Focus with only 69,000 miles. The check engine light is on and upon diagnostics it shows there is an issue with the EVAP purge valve. This cause the vehicle to have problems starting when refueled. Cost of the repair is around $1000 due to where the valve is.

Internal transmission bearing know for the TSB 19-2391. There was no threat to my safety or others. Yes the problem has been confirm with the dealer. The components has been inspected by an authorized Ford Dealer, Shaker Ford in Watertown, CT. There were nothing other than a humming noise coming from the transmission.

While driving at highway speed (60mph), the truck suddenly downshifted to 1st gear causing the rear wheels to lock up until the vehicle slowed to roughly 45mph. At the time of the incident, the truck was not loaded, not towing and weather conditions were cool and dry. Since that incident, the truck hunts for gears, shifts erratically and harshly and will occasionally get stuck in a random gear.
