I was driving doing errands when suddenly a warning popped up that my engine needed to shut down for cooling. I pulled over and shut down. After about 30 minutes, I started up again and the engine ran very rough and after a short distance, warned again. I took the vehicle to the shop and was told there was an engine defect known to ford causing coolant intrusion into the cylinders. Because
... my vehicle was out of warranty, I had to pay the entire repair out of pocket ($7500), plus be without my vehicle for about 2 weeks. After, doing some research, I learned that had the incident happened 6 months sooner, the repair would have been covered in full by a CSR. I would like to know if there is anything that can be done to reimburse my expenses regarding this repair.Read more

Apparent coolant leak identified in my 2014 Ford Escape 1.6L (Ecoboost). The car loses approx. 500mL of coolant each time I drive it, and I need to refill the coolant tank before every time I need to use it. I traced the coolant leak back to the blockheater, which has a failed seal. There is currently a recall for leaking block heaters on the 2.0L Escape motors, but this problem appears to extend

Ford should expand the date of brake failure to cover repair of later models with failed brake booster and master cylinder.Read more

While the vehicle was under warranty, I reported a transmission problem to an authorized Ford dealership involving sudden slipping out of gear into neutral at highway speeds, resulting in momentary loss of power and acceleration. The dealership performed diagnostic testing but stated they could not identify a problem and advised that the vehicle was safe to continue driving. The condition persiste
... d intermittently. After the warranty period expired, the vehicle experienced a catastrophic transmission failure while on a heavily traveled highway. The vehicle suddenly lost power and the rear wheels locked, creating a dangerous traffic situation requiring assistance from two state police vehicles until the vehicle could be towed. The vehicle was taken to the same Ford dealership that previously evaluated the transmission concern. The dealership then diagnosed a complete transmission failure requiring replacement at a cost of approximately $9,000. I contacted Ford Headquarters regarding this issue and the prior warranty period complaint, but Ford has not responded to the matter in any way. I believe the transmission failure is a continuation of the original transmission defect that was reported during the warranty period but not repaired. I am submitting this complaint because of the significant safety risk created by sudden loss of power and rear wheel lockup while driving at highway speeds. All documentation of original issue and current repair is at the Ford Dealership.Read more

The failed/malfunctioning components involve the rear backup camera system and related electronic driver assistance/safety systems in this 2016 Ford Flex, including the blind spot warning system and parking collision warning features. The condition is intermittent but ongoing and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The backup camera intermittently goes blank, freezes, displays im
... properly, or becomes unavailable while the vehicle is in reverse. At times, the blind spot warning system and parking collision warning features also intermittently fail or become unavailable. These failures create a significant safety risk by impairing rear visibility and reducing driver awareness of nearby vehicles, objects, or pedestrians during backing and parking maneuvers. The problem has been occurring for more than one year. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership, which has stated that the vehicle is subject to an open safety recall. However, the dealership reports that parts and/or the final repair remedy are still unavailable, and no repair has been completed despite repeated attempts to obtain recall service. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership/manufacturer representative in connection with the recall condition. No police or insurance inspection was involved because no crash has yet occurred. Prior to and during the failures, warning messages and symptoms intermittently appear, including loss of the camera display and temporary unavailability of driver assistance features. The failures may occur without warning and have been recurring for over one year. The unresolved condition affects the safe operation, usability, and value of the vehicle. Backup cameras and related driver assistance systems are important federally regulated safety features, and the manufacturer has not remedied this safety recall within a reasonable period of time.Read more
