The airbag warning light came on, so we took it in to see about a recall on the airbag control unit issue that required a wire filter kit as out lined in a recall in 2011-2013 Sonatas and Sonata Hybrids. In fact, upon reading the invoice filling out this form, I think that is exactly the issue, and Potamkin Hyundai is ignoring the recall. The invoice states that "AIRBAG MODULE NEED FIXING caused b
... y the DTC for the driver airbag resistance is too high, and has liquid leaking out of it through the connector into the clock spring, and need to replace the air bag incongruent with clock spring to perform repair correctly" The technician explained to my son that driving the car in it's current state, the air bag could go off at any moment, possibly killing him. Their airbag could kill my child. The repair is quoted at $1588 and the solution was to turn off the airbag until a decision could be made if my son wanted to drive the car home, which he did, so not it is disabled. It is a Hyundai manufactured airbag, a safety feature installed into this vehicle that should not degrade over time. It is actually the reason my aunt bought the car for her child and why my son bought the car from her. The car has never been wrecked, the airbag had never been deployed or otherwise molested, has been dealer maintained, and had an extended warranty. I spoke to a Hyundai representative and am awaiting a call back, I do not think that he should be responsible for repair of a defective, degrading safety feature built and manufactured by Hyundai, installed a vehicle built and manufactured by Hyundai. I believe other people should be warned that their Sonata airbags might also have this dangerous issue and it should be immediately investigated. Attached is the invoice given to my son.Read more

Tire size was ST 205 / 75 R 15. This tire experienced a significant belt separation failure that I fortunately noticed before departing our campsite. While doing a walk around inspection before departure, I noticed a severe tread deformity in the front passenger side tire on our camper. The tires were cold and the ambient air temperature was in the low 60's. Before removing the tire and wheel fr

I removed the wheel and tire assembly and deflated it for safety, and then took it to a local tires shop to replace the tire. They diagnosed it as belt separation and further stated that it would have likely failed with a blowout within a few miles if I hadn't caught it. The tire had an estimated 15,000 miles on it at the time, but had been professionally repaired for a screw puncture approximately 7,000 miles earlier.Read more

I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned Mazda CX-70 that exhibits intermittent and unpredictable steering behavior, creating a significant safety concern. The steering will intermittently stiffen and then pull the vehicle left or right without driver input, at times toward oncoming traffic or the breakdown lane, requiring immediate correction. On straight roads, the vehicle does not consistently track a
... nd will drift unpredictably. When driving over minor road variations (such as small bumps or frost heaves), the steering wheel may jerk suddenly in the opposite direction. The vehicle also intermittently behaves as though lane-keeping assistance is active—auto-correcting relative to lane lines—despite all lane assist features being turned off. In multiple instances, the vehicle has tracked erratically along lane lines or navigated slight curves without driver input. The issue occurs unpredictably but is more pronounced on rural or uneven roads and during initial driving, though it can persist on highways as well. The issue caused several near miss accidents-twice it sent my vehicle careening into oncoming traffic; another time it tried to drive me back toward a pedestrian I was driving around intentionally. Driver has to be at constant heightened attention to avoid accident. Multiple repair attempts were made, including replacement of the steering column. The condition temporarily improved but returned and worsened. During the final repair attempt, dealership foreman, master technicians, and manufacturer technical support were involved, and the condition was ultimately deemed a “characteristic” with no repair available. The vehicle remains unrepaired and unsafe to operate. The dealer is refusing to supply the customer with any details of the repair order and diagnostic work that was done. The manufacturer has agreed to repurchase the vehicle under lemon law, confirming the defect could not be resolved.Read more

Vehicle Information 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost VIN: [XXX] Complaint Description While driving approximately 70 mph on a highway, my 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost suddenly displayed a “Stop Safely Now” message and immediately lost propulsion. The engine shut down without warning while I was in active traffic. After the shutdown, the vehicle automatically shifted into park and would not allow me t
... o shift into neutral. This left me unable to move the vehicle out of a live traffic lane. I was forced to shut the vehicle off while still in a dangerous roadway position. This incident created a serious safety hazard, as I was traveling at highway speed and could have been rear-ended due to the sudden loss of power and inability to move the vehicle. This issue appears to match Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-2317, which describes “Stop Safely Now” warnings, no-start conditions, and gateway module (GWM) software faults. This indicates a known defect that can cause sudden loss of propulsion. A claim has already been opened with Ford Motor Company under case number [XXX], and the vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership for diagnosis. At this time, the issue has not been resolved. This failure occurred without warning and presents a significant risk to driver safety and others on the road. Yes. Its failure has led to widespread issues, including persistent warning messages, driver assistance malfunctions, MMI system instability, and ultimately a complete high-volta
... ge system shutdown while driving. The repair is extensive, requiring full module replacement, software programming, and system recalibration across interconnected systems. The vehicle has remained inoperable due to significant delays in obtaining this part. This defect appears to be widespread among this vehicle’s make and model, as evidenced by numerous owner reports and forum discussions describing similar SX6 module failures with limited long-term resolution. The vehicle and all affected components are available for inspection upon request. The safety risk has been severe. The lane keep and lane centering system has shut off abruptly at highway speeds without warning, causing the vehicle to drift or swerve out of its lane and creating a high risk of collision. More critically, the vehicle suffered a complete high-voltage system failure while driving on public roads, resulting in a sudden and total loss of power without warning. This creates an extremely dangerous situation, as the vehicle cannot maintain speed or safely respond to surrounding traffic, significantly increasing the risk of an accident. Yes. The issues have been reproduced and confirmed by an authorized dealership, which also diagnosed a failed module requiring replacement. No. The vehicle and its components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or other third parties. Yes. While parked on a slight downhill grade, gasoline started leaking and created a significant puddle on the ground. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. An independent service center ran numerous tests over two days, including a smoke test. Diagnosis: There is a hole in top section of fuel tank and the fuel tank needs replaced. Recommendation was to not drive vehicle with fuel tank over
... half full. Due to the potential of leaking fuel in the presence of a hot ignition source increasing the risk of fire, driving the vehicle long distance with defective fuel tank appears to represent an unreasonable safety risk. Unfortunately, the vehicle is currently 300 miles from home. Mazda’s Mexican-made plastic fuel tank specifically required for our vehicle’s VIN is not currently available. (Mazda makes a similar metal fuel tank in [XXX] which will not fit.) Mazda has an estimated three-month backlog in [XXX] for the fuel tank. Still awaiting repair due to lack of availability of the appropriate fuel tank. Major safety recall NHTSA 16V684000 for the 2015 Mazda3 addresses a manufacturing defect where a fuel tank weld could fail, leading to fuel leaks and a potential fire. Recall is for vehicles produced between 12/4/13 – 9/18/15. Our vehicle was manufactured 02/2015 in [XXX] . However, recall is limited to three specific series of VINs and our vehicle falls in the gap between subject VIN ranges. A recent NHTSA complaint XXX (1/27/26) has the same issue: fuel tank leak, but not within range of recall VINs. It seems that the list of affected VINs included in recall 16V684000 should be expanded to include additional Mexican manufactured vehicles potentially with the same issue. Or create a new recall. Having a hole in the top of a plastic fuel tank securely mounted to the vehicle is unexpected through normal wear and tear. Any fuel leakage increases the risk of fire.
