The radar cruise control system on my 2017 Toyota Highlander is not functioning properly and creates a safety hazard. When initially setting the radar cruise control, the system works as expected. I can accelerate to a desired speed, press the “set” control, and the vehicle maintains that speed correctly. The problem occurs when I try to increase the set speed. After setting an initial speed (
... for example, 45 mph), I accelerate to a higher speed (such as 65 mph) and press the “set” control again to update the cruise setting. Instead of setting the new speed, the system reverts to the previously stored speed. When this happens, the vehicle rapidly decelerates and applies braking to return to the lower speed. This sudden and unexpected braking creates a dangerous situation, especially on highways, as it can put surrounding drivers at risk of a rear-end collision. I have tested this multiple times and experience the same result each time. This issue only occurs when using radar cruise control and does not occur with standard cruise control. note this has been an ongoing issue since the day I purchased my vehicle in January 2017. I notified the dealership about the issue and they stated they would open a case with ToyotaRead more

Vehicle experienced white exhaust smoke due to oil entering the exhaust system, caused by turbocharger failure. This led to contamination and failure of all O2 sensors, requiring full replacement, along with replacement of both turbochargers. The radiator also failed and had to be replaced. This appears to be a cascading mechanical failure affecting multiple major systems, including the engine, f
... uel/propulsion system, and electrical components, rather than normal wear and tear. The failure rendered the vehicle inoperable, leaving me without transportation during a period of financial hardship. The severity and extent of repairs raise concern about a potential broader defect. This also created a safety concern due to excessive exhaust smoke and reduced vehicle reliability while in operation.Read more

On January 23rd 2026, my rear window shattered while parked in the parking lot at work. I have video footage from my job’s security cameras which confirms there were no external forces involved nor, thankfully, no one was as in the vehicle at the time it occurred. This occurred while the vehicle was parked; it spontaneously shattered. The back windshield could have unexpectedly exploded while m
... y children were in the vehicle, and the flying glass could have injured my children. The windshield has since been replaced, but there have been no issues to occur since the initial incident. At the time of the incident, I contacted the local police to file a police report. A certified Nissan dealers did inspect my windshield, and the Nissan Warranty group did not replace the windshield citing that I was over the 36,000 miles warranty (42967 miles). The service rep was helpful during the process and was even surprised that the warranty group denied the repair, since I was not far over the 36,000 miles. I had to pay out of pocket to replace my windshield and to also cover my rental for the time while I was waiting to hear back from the warranty group. I had to leave my vehicle at the dealership during this time. A total of 33 days, which was an expense I could not afford but I needed my transportation back. My insurance company did not cover any portion of the claim since it was a manufacturer failure. There were no warning, odd noises or damage to the windshield prior to it shattering. There is an active lawsuit against Nissan for not performing a recall on this defect, and it is a known defect.Read more

I then took it back to the Ford dealership where it was purchased. They ran a scan at the dealership & said there was nothing wrong. They then indicated that I should take it to a Chevy dealer which I did. They stated that Chevy has a special scan that the previous scans cannot access. I documented all the issues and the Chevy dealership found 8 issues including the transmission, holes in the struts, software issues, washer pump, grille shutter & loose battery cables. The Ford dealership agreed to fix the struts & the washer pump as well as the diagnostic testing. I thought we were going to be able to resolve the transmission and the grille shutter issue but that has not happened. The defective grille shutter is what is activating the check engine light. The Ford dealership charged me for fixing the battery cables and yet they were needed to be done again. They also told me that the grille shutter was not necessary as I could drive with it but I would never know when I had an actual problem. They wanted to replace the torque converter. I submitted a request to Carvana & they offered me 5,000 and I paid double that plus. I don't feel safe driving the vehicle and GM is well aware of the issues with this make and Model. Let's not wait until someone is killed or hurt before action is taken. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

On [XXX] at approximately [XXX] PDT, a 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450+ caught fire at an intersection in Irvine, California. The vehicle was being driven normally. It was NOT charging. It was NOT in a collision. It was stopped at the intersection when the fire began. There was no warning. Four occupants were inside: the driver (age [XXX] ), two minor children (ages [XXX] and [XXX] ), and one eld

The vehicle sustained catastrophic cabin burn-through and is a total loss. Smoke and flames appeared to originate from beneath the vehicle, consistent with a thermal event in the under-floor high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack, pending expert investigation. This vehicle is within the population of NHTSA Recall 24V-372 (Mercedes-Benz battery management system software defect, 14,912 2023-2025 EQE/EQS units, including 551 units of the 2024 EQS SUV 450+). Mercedes documented in its Part 573 report that it received field reports of this defect in October 2023 and waited approximately seven months before filing the recall. Mercedes acknowledged fire risk in the EQS platform in NHTSA Recall 24V-115, stating "a risk of fire cannot be ruled out." In February 2026, Recall 26V-073 ordered full battery replacement in EQB vehicles after Mercedes admitted prior software remedies were failed remedies. On [XXX], a Mercedes EQE caught fire spontaneously in a parking garage in Incheon, South Korea while parked and not charging, damaging 140 vehicles. The fire in this vehicle occurred at zero mph with two young children and an elderly grandmother trapped behind child-locked rear doors. The fire department and police responded. The vehicle is preserved pending expert inspection. I request NHTSA ODI open a formal investigation into spontaneous battery fire risk in the Mercedes EQ platform. The collision alert warning lights have been coming on since the DAY I drove out of the dealership! They tried to dismiss it as my fault - I got too close to something (I was simply passing another car). This has been a constant issue and I’ve told the dealership every time I’ve had it serviced. I’ve had about four times that I’ve been driving at high speeds and the vehicle suddenly slams
... on the brakes because it’s “thinking I’m gonna hit something.” Usually it’s if I’m passing another car, but it’s also happened when there is nothing near at all. This past week was the last straw!! I was going 70 mph down the highway, had just passed a semi, and all hell broke loose. Jerked me from side to side, the brakes engaged and were jolting me, smoking, grinding, and screeching horribly because they would not give up in trying to stop me. Oil dumped all over and a burning smell, shaking and jerking, couldn’t steer, etc.. during this scary time, the service 4WD light and crash alert lights all come on. Thankfully the semi I was passing was paying attention and did not hit me. I was two hours from home so the Jeep was towed to the nearest dealership. I later learned there is a service recall that JUST came out early March 2026. It’s called 12D and is a software update related to all these codes it’s been throwing and how myJeep has been behaving for TWO years. Software needs to be updated or can have all this stuff that happened to me… because the systems don’t know what to do?? There is also a service bulletin out there that service techs SHOULD be aware of that addresses known issues with the PTU (power transfer unit). I just learned from the dealership that has my Jeep - the PTU is shot!! Imagine that! They have a PTU unit ordered but will not know what else is damaged until they tear into it. It shouldn’t take an injury or death to get notices out there when there are known issues. Thank you! This dealership where my Jeep is finally seems to know what they are doing!Read more

My family and I were merging onto the highway when without warning, the automatic transmission bucked, making a loud thump sound, then it lost power nearly causing a severe accident. The transmission then began to hunt for gears, seemingly confused. It even cycled through 1st gear, my heart dropped, but luckily it did not engage 1st gear since that would have caused havoc at highway speeds. After
... wards, the vehicle regained some power but was suddenly limited to only two gears (5th and 9th). I immediately drove home, when entering my driveway the transmission could not engage reverse. Therefore I had to roll it in using forward momentum. I just had the vehicle serviced a few days ago because this issue happened before (not as severe). However, I was told the vehicle was operating fine and a leaky transmission pan was the culprit. After the transmission pan was replaced, I picked up the vehicle just yesterday (4/11/26), and this incident occurred today,(4/12/26). Please help, this transmission was rebuilt by Ford under warranty (60k mile powertrain warranty) just two years ago due to the notorious defects that have been ongoing. I contacted Ford corporate but they've refused to provide any help. This problem was confirmed by Ford corporate and the dealer, which led to the initial transmission rebuild (in 2024). However I fear this defect may not be repairable since the issue has returned and is more severe. I believe Ford was aware of this defect and did not disclose this information to me prior to buying. If I had known, I wouldn't have purchased this vehicle. Thank you for any support you could provide on this matter.Read more

The high-voltage battery cells in my vehicle, supplied by Farasis Energy, are prone to internal short circuits that can cause thermal runaway and vehicle fire. This defect poses a serious risk of fire while the vehicle is parked or in operation. Mercedes-Benz USA has acknowledged this defect through three separate recall campaigns (25V050, 25V894, and 26V073). The first two remedies — software u
... pdates — failed to prevent fires, including post-repair fires reported in Europe. Mercedes-Benz subsequently committed to full battery replacement as the only effective fix, but has not made repair scheduling available until approximately December 30, 2026. In the interim, Mercedes-Benz has instructed owners to: (1) park and charge exclusively outdoors, (2) limit charging to 80% of battery capacity. These extraordinary restrictions confirm that the vehicle remains a fire risk and is currently unfit for safe normal use.Read more
