Switch fails in shifter assembly that is supposed to sense the vehicle is in park. Does not allow the key to be removed. Dealership explained that complete failure may cause the vehicle to actually get stuck in drive. Very common problem that typically occurs just outside of bumper to bumper warranty. Related to a cheap microswitch but requires $1000 full replacement of the shifter assembly.

I'm reporting a safety issue with BMW vehicles equipped with the B58TU engine, primarily 2019-2021 models. These vehicles have an oil pump with an internal plastic component that regulates oil pressure, and this part is fracturing in the field, causing sudden loss of oil pressure. The failure typically occurs during cold starts in low temperatures. When it fails, oil pressure becomes erratic or is
... lost entirely, often with little to no warning before engine damage or vehicle disablement. Warning signs, when present, include inability to measure oil level electronically, abnormal oil pressure, or sudden drivetrain malfunction warnings. These can rapidly progress to engine shutdown or severe damage from oil starvation. This creates a dangerous situation because the vehicle can become disabled without warning while driving or after startup. This is especially hazardous when cars become immobilized in traffic or during winter conditions when failures occur most frequently, leaving occupants exposed to freezing temperatures while awaiting assistance. Pump replacement requires extensive disassembly and commonly costs $6,000-$8,000, assuming no engine damage. A critical concern: owners cannot determine if their vehicle has the original plastic pump or the later metal revision. BMW's VIN-based parts lookup now shows updated components even when original plastic parts remain installed, and BMW has removed the original plastic part number from dealer networks entirely. Failures are reported across multiple production years, and the scope of affected vehicles remains unclear. Because this condition causes sudden vehicle disablement without adequate warning, especially in cold weather, I believe this warrants investigation as a potential safety-related defect.Read more

I am a former Transmission Calibration Engineer at Stellantis, so I know what I'm talking about. I experienced an engine stall event while coasting down in speed. I was in town, driving about 30 mph, and coasting (0% pedal). I lightly applied the brakes and while the vehicle was still in motion (coasting) the engine stalled. The information cluster displayed a message that said "put the vehicl
... e in park and restart the engine." I coasted around a corner, came to a stop, put the transmission in Park, and restarted the engine. No MIL or codes were set. I have a scan tool and confirmed later that no codes were set. I'm fairly certain the engine was in DFSO (decel fuel shutoff) when the issue occurred as the conditions were all correct for DFSO (engine was in normal operating temperature range, gear was 5th or 6th when coasting was initiated, and pedal was 0% for several seconds before the issue occurred). Loss of propulsion is an obvious safety concern as I lost control of the vehicle.Read more

My 2022 Model Y Performance developed severe front-left inner shoulder tire wear caused by a suspension alignment defect. On 4/7/2026 at 57,974 miles, Les Schwab diagnosed excessive shoulder wear due to alignment issue, deemed the tires unsafe, and required a liability waiver before I could leave (WO #XXX). I drove to Tesla Portland. Tesla’s own ExpressAlign check confirmed the front toe was out
... of spec, with multiple values flagged red on their equipment. The left front toe was the most severe, matching the wear pattern Les Schwab diagnosed that morning. Tesla charged me $1,874 for four new tires but did NOT perform a corrective alignment. Their own post-install report shows front toe STILL flagged red (left front toe slightly worse than before). They released the car on new tires with alignment still out of tolerance. I had paid Tesla for an alignment in Feb 2025 at 33,261 miles to prevent uneven wear. It failed within 24,713 miles with no suspension impacts or damage. The specific inner shoulder wear pattern, validated independently by both Les Schwab and Tesla on the same day, is consistent with the documented suspension geometry defect in 2020-2024 Model Y vehicles. I request NHTSA consider expanding the scope of recall 21V-835 (Tesla SB-21-31-003), which addressed front suspension lateral link issues on 2019-2021 Model 3/Y, to include 2022+ Model Y vehicles exhibiting the same alignment geometry failure. This is a safety hazard. Les Schwab required a liability waiver. I replaced all four tires as a safety necessity to transport my children. The underlying defect appears to be a factory design or manufacturing issue that Tesla’s alignment service does not resolve. I leased a 2026 Electric GV70 from Genesis in June 2025. In January of 2026, when driving the car I got a warning sign to stop the vehicle and check the battery supply. At that point, the car went into sever power reduction and would only go 20 MPH or so. After 20-30 minutes, the car completely shut down and became inoperable. Luckily, I was near home and was able to get my car home. I had to have
... the vehicle towed on wheels as it was completely frozen to the dealership. They diagnosed it as a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). They replaced the ICCU but identified other issues that to this day are unresolved and my car is still in the shop. These cars were subject to a recall for ICCU failure but only to model year 2025. These ICCUs are continuing to fail on the 2026 models, and at an alarming rate. The head of service at the dealership told me they were dealing with "hundreds" of ICCU failures on Hyundai/Genesis vehicles. If I had been on a highway traveling at higher speeds and the car suddenly lost almost all power and would only drive for another few miles before completely shutting down, it would have created a dangerous situation. These cars need to be recalled - again. Hyundai/Genesis clearly dont know how to make electric cars/battery packs that work and should be held accountable. I believe they are downplaying this situation due to the prior recalls/class action lawsuits and dont want to experience further reputational damage.Read more

I am seeking a case review regarding a persistent and unresolved drivetrain issue with my 2025 Toyota Tundra (non-hybrid) that began immediately following a dealership service visit and has continued for over one month without resolution despite multiple repair attempts. Since that time, the vehicle has exhibited consistent transmission-related defects including failure to shift properly into high
... er gears (notably not reaching 10th gear at highway speeds), RPM hanging under light throttle, delayed acceleration followed by sudden surges in power, and harsh or erratic downshifting that causes the vehicle to lurch forward when slowing to a stop. The vehicle also demonstrates inconsistent torque delivery, where boost builds but power is not transferred until a delayed and abrupt engagement occurs. These issues are most pronounced during normal highway driving conditions and significantly impair drivability and safety, particularly when merging or maintaining speed. I have brought the vehicle to multiple Toyota dealerships for inspection, where diagnostic scans have not produced any fault codes and I have repeatedly been told the vehicle is operating “within normal parameters,” despite the ongoing and reproducible performance issues. The dealerships have been unable to replicate or resolve the problem, and I have received inconsistent explanations ranging from normal operation to speculative driving pattern causes. I have an active case open with Toyota corporate, but after a month of delays, lack of diagnosis, and no corrective action, the issue remains unresolved. Given the ongoing safety concerns, repeated repair attempts, and inability of Toyota to identify or fix the defect, I am now left without a resolution & am instructed to drive the vehicle despite drivetrain issues.Read more

Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wagoneer (Base Model) The vehicle has experienced ongoing and progressively worsening engine performance failures, specifically involving unstable RPM behavior and loss of power during idle and re-acceleration from idle. These defects have been present on multiple occasions and occur under normal operating conditions. While stopped at traffic signals or intersections, the vehic
... le frequently exhibits sudden and erratic RPM fluctuations, followed by a sharp drop in engine speed resulting in complete engine shutdown. These shutdown events have occurred both while the vehicle is in Park and while actively positioned in traffic, creating a hazardous condition. In several instances, the engine stalled unexpectedly while the vehicle was stopped at a red light, requiring an immediate restart in an active traffic environment. In addition, when transitioning from an idle state to acceleration, the vehicle has demonstrated abrupt surging and jerking behavior, causing sudden forward movement. This creates a significant risk of unintended acceleration and near-collision events, particularly in congested traffic conditions or when stopped closely behind another vehicle. The vehicle was presented to an authorized Jeep dealership for inspection. The dealership advised that no diagnostic fault codes were present and no defect could be identified. However, during the dealer’s evaluation, the vehicle did stall while being allowed to roll into the service bay in an idle state, directly corroborating the reported condition. Despite this occurrence, no corrective repair was made, and the vehicle was returned without resolution. The frequency and severity of these symptoms have increased over time, resulting in a vehicle that is unreliable and unsafe to operate. The continued occurrence of engine shutdowns and erratic acceleration behavior presents a clear and ongoing safety risk to the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists.Read more

On 4/2/2026, my DC to DC converter failed in my 2022 Landrover Defender (owned 3 months, purchased pre-owned from dealer), which short-circuited both my 12V battery and my telemetric safety battery (location services, and emergency calls). The vehicle lost all power, completely malfunctioned electrically losing ability to accelerate, power steering, and everything went dark in the vehicle while dr
... iving on a highway. I immediately tried to get it to the shoulder but it lost momentum and stopped in the lane, with cars and semis coming around a blind corner at speed. It was a harrowing experience, the car started to roll backwards (on a slight incline, as it was a mountain pass) and a semi truck had to assist in stopping the vehicle by skillfully, using his trailer to stop the vehicle. This created body damage to the entire side of my vehicle. The car then locked up completely, wheels were locked and tow truck had to drag it with a chain up on the bed. My son and I could have been killed, as traffic was coming around the bend at 60-65 mph and we were completely stopped and started rolling back towards the oncoming traffic. Several others could have been injured as my vehicle could have cause a major traffic collision. The issue has been reported to Jaguar Landrover customer service, reported to the dealership I bought the vehicle from and to the dealership who told me that it could help to drive the vehicle to charge the battery. The dealer where I towed the vehicle confirmed it was the DC to DC converter failure, confirmed that it fried or short-circuited both batteries which then caused the car to lose all power. The failure was confirmed by certified mechanics, and approved by an inspector for the extended warranty and repairs were made. There was an electrical fault warning on screen. One dealer told me to drive it to charge battery. This vehicle should be recalled to avoid safety issues.Read more

The engine coolant temperature sensor has failed on my 2019 GMC Canyon. The check engine light is illuminated, the temperature gauge does not register correctly, the air conditioning has been disabled by the vehicle's computer, and the engine cooling fan continues to run after the engine is turned off. These symptoms are consistent with the vehicle entering fail-safe mode due to loss of a valid co
... olant temperature signal. The problem was confirmed by an independent mechanic who diagnosed a failed coolant temperature sensor. The mechanic attempted to source a replacement part through GMC but was informed the part was unavailable. The reason for the parts unavailability is unknown, though in his experience, it typically means that the manufacturer is stocking up and preparing for a recall This issue appears to be widespread across 2017–2020 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado V6 trucks based on extensive owner forum documentation. The safety concern is significant: without reliable coolant temperature monitoring, there is no assurance the engine is operating within safe thermal limits, and the driver has no warning if overheating occurs. The disabled A/C also creates a safety risk during periods of extreme heat. The vehicle has approximately 60,000 miles. The problem has been present for approximately three months and is ongoing.Read more

This is the 4th time my vacuum pump has “broke” my brakes become hard and stiff and my brake assist light comes on. It happens EVERY winter when it drops below freezing. This is the second time this winter it has broke and now my check engine light is on. It is not cheap to fix and a major safety issue. Would like to add I was only backing out of my drive way this last time it happened. I was
