This vehicle is subject to Recall 25V860 / Ford Recall 25SD9 involving the left rear half shaft. On several occasions, the vehicle has rolled after being placed in Park. I was forced to quickly reenter the vehicle and apply the brake to prevent a collision, property damage, or personal injury. Due to these repeated incidents, I no longer believe the vehicle can be operated safely. I have attempt
... ed to obtain the recall repair through authorized Ford dealerships but have been unable to obtain a permanent remedy. As a result, the vehicle remains subject to a serious safety defect that creates a risk of unintended vehicle movement. I am concerned that the condition described in Recall 25V860 has affected my vehicle and presents an ongoing safety hazard to myself, my passengers, and the public.Read more

The vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of transmission engagement and motive power while driving at highway speeds due to a Transmission Control Module (TCM) failure. The vehicle unexpectedly dropped out of gear into a 'no-power' state, creating an immediate traffic hazard and nearly causing a rear-end collision. The vehicle is hardly functioning at any speed, drops all power then jerks
... into a higher gear. The vehicle is cutting off in traffic and cannot be started unless a transmission reset is done. The vehicle has lost all reverse causing hazards if reverse is needed. The nearest auto parts diagnosed a failed TCM and clutch but dealership and Ford refuses to replace it because Ford excluded 2017 models from "Customer Satisfaction Program 14M02", despite using the identical defective transmission hardware as the recalled 2012-2016 models.Read more

Vehicle is currently part of the open recall for reverse camera not functioning or not displaying properly. Problem was present long before the issued recall in 2025. No communication from manufacturer on timeline to remedy issue. Manufacturer has not delivered on making parts available and issue persists. This is unacceptable.

I was driving down an empty two lane road the truck went from 9th to 10th gear. As it went into 10th the transmission shifted hard and then locked up. This caused my rear wheels to lock up and I skid off the road. Eventually it shifted back down into a lower gear where I could slowly drive into a safe place. I called for a tow and had it towed into the dealer where it’s at right now. I was lucky
... the road was empty and didn’t hit anything or anyone. But the transmission had been shifting bad for awhile but not to that extent. Note this truck has just hit 60000 miles.Read more

2019 Ford Escape with a documented history of powertrain failures. White smoke on cold start and engine stalling began around 48,000 miles; the dealer noted this engine is known for coolant intrusion. At about 62,000 miles the engine short block was replaced under Ford Field Service Action 21N12 / TSB 22-2322. Smoke, shaking, and stalling continued, and the engine intermittently cuts out when shif
... ting into reverse and must be restarted. At about 87,000 miles the transmission failed and the full transmission assembly was replaced (work order Jan 2026, vehicle returned end of March 2026). The owner repeatedly told the Ford dealer the vehicle felt unsafe. On [XXX] the owner reported renewed exhaust smoke, an illuminated engine light, and a clicking sound at startup and asked to bring it in; instead of inspecting it, the dealer advised taking the vehicle straight to CarMax. About 9 days later, on [XXX], while driving in Los Angeles about 60 miles from home with young children aboard, the transmission would not stay in gear and the engine warning lights began blinking. The owner called the Ford dealership for guidance but no one could advise and the service desk would not answer. After consulting a mechanic, the family agreed it was unsafe to keep driving given the noises and pulled over in Anaheim, about 30 miles from home, at a mechanic shop to read the codes. A paid tow (~$600) was required. Loss of gear engagement and stalling in traffic with children aboard is a serious crash and stranding hazard. The scan returned codes P0012 and P0014 (camshaft timing, stored as permanent), P0300 (random/multiple misfire), and P0301, P0302, P0304 (cylinder misfires); the dash showed "Auto Start/Stop not ready - Stall Alert - Restart Engine." The defect has been reproduced and confirmed repeatedly by the Ford dealer, which performed the engine and transmission replacements. A repurchase request was denied. NHTSA #26V104: I purchased this vehicle to rent it out on Turo (a vehicle sharing platform). It was de-listed from Turo on March 18 due to NHTSA #26V104 recall being unresolved. I have been unable to rent my vehicle since then and Ford has not provided a remedy to this recall. I would like to log a complaint that this software fix remedy has taken too long.

The engine in my 2017 Ford Escape EcoBoost experienced a known “coolant intrusion” defect in which engine coolant leaks into the engine cylinders. This defect is widely associated with the 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines and can cause engine misfires, coolant loss, overheating, corrosion, and catastrophic engine failure requiring engine or short-block replacement. The vehicle is available for i
... nspection upon request. The vehicle is driven by a college student traveling away from home. The coolant intrusion defect creates a serious safety concern because the engine can suddenly misfire, lose power, overheat, or fail unexpectedly while driving. A sudden engine failure could place the driver and others at risk, especially during highway driving or in remote areas. The issue developed shortly after the vehicle was purchased from a dealership in June 2025. The symptoms are consistent with the widely documented Ford EcoBoost coolant intrusion defect acknowledged by Ford through Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12. The vehicle has exhibited symptoms including coolant loss and engine performance concerns consistent with this known defect. The dealership has been notified of the issue. The dealership has been contacted regarding the issue. Ford has previously acknowledged this defect through Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12 relating to coolant intrusion in affected EcoBoost engines. The vehicle experienced symptoms consistent with coolant intrusion, including coolant loss and engine performance concerns/misfires. These symptoms are widely reported with the affect EcoBoost engines and has progressed to severe engine failure.Read more

Nov 20,2025 Manufacturer Recall Number25SC4 NHTSA Recall Number25V789 Recall Status Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available We purchased our vehicle with the intent of using it for a daily work commute, the range of the battery being perfect for this. We now find that the vehicle is not 100% safe to charge or drive in the manner intended and no remedy has been supplied by Ford, nor is one exp
... ected. We were advised by Ford not to charge it at all lest it catch fire. After several months we were told to charge it to only 80% to avoid the possibility of a fire while driving or when parked and charging. After a checkup we initiated with our local Ford mechanics in early 2026, we were told that the car was now safe to charge 100% and the recall could be ignored. We believed this to be the case. However, while having our car valued for a trade in, a dealer told us that the car still had an open recall on the battery which should definitely not be ignored. Ford’s own website says no fix is expected, no parts are available and the fire danger is still present because the issue is battery related, not a software one. Samsung who manufactured the batteries recalled them in February 2025. [XXX] We are no longer able use the car as intended: 80% of charge moving a 440Lb battery leaves short of the 35 miles we expect. Not utilizing the entire range of the battery, has cost us money in the purchase of gas which we should not have incurred. The vehicle is stored in a garage adjacent to our home, and were it to catch fire, we would lose everything. We wish to sell the car, but feel we shouldn't with such a dangerous safety unresolved flaw. Our vehicle has decreased in value by 66% since 2022 which has impacted our trade in value severely. This car is a financial impediment a potential danger to our safety and home and a nightmare to own. The transmission is absolutely flawed - it delays shifting in unpredictable ways when in traffic, and often slams into gear when downshifting, which is jarring on the driver. Transmission should absolutely be recalled for the bushing. It is unsafe and unethical that Ford knowingly continued to used this transmission knowing it was causing issues.

Yes the steering wheels are coming loose on all these trucks. Customers are having to fix their own steering wheels because there are no recalls. I don't believe steering wheels should be coming loose. The only thing they've done to fix it is make it easier to fix on the newer models.

Windshields are made with glass far to thin. In the last 30 years i have never had a chip or crack on any vehicle. This is my second maverick, first one i had to replace windshield 3 times and fill 4 chips in 4 years. This new maverick i have now i have had for 1 month and already have a chip in my windshield. There is a major problem with the glass used on these trucks.
