I was heading west on XXX with my [XXX] granddaughter and about a mile before the XXX exit we heard a loud bang and the car was, like a shot, propelled across the center line into the left lane and heading for the ditch. We were very lucky as about 10 seconds earlier I pack of cars passed us and a straggler of the pack passed us about 4 seconds before the incident. It could have been a five or six car pile up. I think it is a vehicle safety issue that you don't design something that can withstand hitting a bump or pot hole or why wouldn't you give clearance for the bumper to flex. Ford can't tell me what happened to the sensor and to me that is a safety issue. I spoke with the service advisor and went up to service manager and called Ford customer care and they refuse to do anything about it.Read more

Vehicle is having erratic downshifting at highway speeds causing it to drop gears and brake harshly then violently accelerate. The transmission was already replaced by the dealer in 2025. Dealer is reporting they cannot get the vehicle to duplicate the issue but this has posed a great safety risk of injury for my family.

The exterior A-pillar applique trim piece began detaching from the vehicle while driving. The part became loose and was hanging from the vehicle whilst in motion, at which point I safely pulled over and removed it to prevent it becoming a road hazard. The Ford dealership completed repairs on my vehicle and returned it by parking it in front of my garage. I have a long driveway and additional parking and needed to park the vehicle somewhere else (maybe 20-30 feet away). I reversed the truck ~20 feet and when I tapped the gas lightly to turn the car left to pull into the parking space it accelerated rapidly. I pressed the brakes repeatedly and th

I tried cutting the wheel and the tires seemed unresponsive and the vehicle didn't stop until it hit a small tree on the right side of the parking area. Upon trying to move the vehicle back to the original parking space the vehicle seemed to only allow steering to the right and hit a tree on the right passenger front door. The airbags, part of the service work previously completed from another recall, didn't deploy despite having an 85lb passenger in the vehicle. The dash flashed with many sensors when I initially tried to stop the vehicle when it was in drive. The vehicle is available for inspection. The safety of myself and my passenger were at risk. I was transported to the ER. The problem was not confirmed by anyone yet. The vehicle was inspected by police visually and damages documented in the police report. I have not spoken to the dealer as I'm now weary of their service center practices since this occurred the first time I drove the vehicle after they made the repairs for the passenger airbag and brake recalls.Read more

Thankfully the secondary latch kept the hood from fully opening but had that latch not worked the hood would have flown open into my windshield.

This 2017 ford escape titanium with ecoboost engine suffers from coolant intrusion into the engine. The known design flaw allows coolant into the hot engine which causes cracked heads and eventually a cracked engine case. It also blows oil into the turbo and intake system that leads to engine fires. Our current recommendation from mechanics is to replace the engine, the turbocharger assembly

... well known company (BG products) and installed a mixture of fluids that have never been tested in a complex transfer case that has the Torque-on-demand, automatic 4A feature that controls the vehicle's traction during wet/icy conditions. This type of transfer case is not installed in all F-150 trucks, only the upper models like the Lariat or Platinum models. The dealership installed BG 792 plus they mixed in BG 328 additive per a universal guideline published by BG products. This mixture doubles the viscosity of the fluid recommended by Ford, which is Mercon LV (Low Viscosity). The guidance was intended for less complex or manual type transfer cases not the Borg Warner 44-67. The installed mix of BG 792 +328 could cause a slower engagement and inconsistent operation of the Traction-On-Demand system during wet or icy conditions. The Borg Warner 44-67 uses speed sensing and injects low viscosity fluid through portsinto a "wet clutch" pack, and the hydraulic pressure is modulated by a specifically programmed PID loop. The hydraulic system has not been tested with the BG mixtures, that doubles the viscosity of the fluid. The BG 328 additive is specifically designed for friction type clutching plates, and could cause damage to the "wet clutch" pack found in the Borg Warner 44-67. I have notified the dealership and BG products of the misinterpretation of the BG guidance but they have claimed that the fluid mix they used "should be ok". They can not, and/or will not provide the chemistry calculation or testing protocols for the mix used, especially with BG 328 added into BG 792.Read more
