On Thursday, May28 I was driving my 2025 Ford Mach-2 on Schrock Rd. in Columbus, Ohio at approximately 3:30 PM when the hood (the "frunk") of the car unexpectedly unlatched and opened, flying up to a vertical position and obscuring my view of traffic. I was driving in the left lane of this road at 40-45 mph. My view of the road was immediately obstructed, but I was able to crouch sufficiently to s
... ee enough of the road ahead and the mirrors on each side to navigate to the right lane and then to the side of the road, pull off safely, turn the car off, exit, and close the frunk firmly. I was away from home when this occurred. When I got in the care to drive home, there was a warning that came on, for the first time, that read as follows: FRUNK FAULT DETECTED; SERVICE REQUIRED. There was no advice to avoid driving the car. I checked the hood/frunk to be sure that it was firmly closed, then started for home, avoiding my usual freeway drive at 65mph for a slower trip on local roads. It is a good thing I did, because the risk of a major accident with injury and serious property damage would have been far greater at higher speed. I arrived home without the frunk opening again, called for Ford Roadside Assistance, and arranged to have the car towed to Germain Ford of Columbus, where it still is, awaiting the delivery of a new frunk latch system. The dealer has determined that there is likely a defective sensor in the frunk latch. This is a known issue with the Ford Mach-e, affecting not only the frunk but also sometimes the hatch lid in the rear. This is a serious safety hazard, and a review of reports over several models years from Mach-e owners indicates that I am not alone in having experienced it. At highway speeds a suddenly unlatched frunk/hood would not only open to the vertical, but conceivable also be smashed against the windshield or ripped off the vehicle and become airborne. Ford is aware of the issue, for there is are technical service bulletins covering it.Read more

Component Failed & Inspection Status: The front-left upper and lower control arms, ball joints, wheel hub assembly, steering knuckle, and front axle shaft have failed. Severe environmental corrosion has completely seized and fused the steering knuckle inside the wheel hub. All original failed components are currently intact and are fully available for physical inspection upon request. Safety Risk
... : This severe structural corrosion causes the steering knuckle and axle to seize, creating an imminent risk of primary steering component separation while driving. A steering separation on a heavy electric vehicle (over 6,000 lbs curb weight) causes a sudden, complete loss of directional control, creating an immediate life-threatening hazard to the occupants and surrounding traffic. Confirmation & Testing:The failure and severe structural corrosion were officially diagnosed and confirmed by a certified technician at an authorized Ford dealership service center. Warning Signs & Symptoms: The symptom appeared as a very noisy, distinct creaking sound coming from the front-left suspension. This noise occurred specifically when turning the steering wheel and when operating the vehicle at speeds below 40 mph. The sounds may have been present but obscured by road noise at higher speeds. There were no dashboard warning lamps or error messages prior to the diagnostic inspection. Systemic Concerns: This 2022 model is experiencing a severe vulnerability to premature environmental corrosion that causes the steering knuckle, axle, and control arms to seize to the point of failure. This demonstrates a critical structural durability issue under heavy EV loads in road-salt regions that warrants federal safety tracking for the 2022 model year.Read more

SAFETY RISK: The same wrench-light is the documented symptom of NHTSA Safety Recall 25V863 / Ford 25C69 (Park Pawl engagement failure) - active and unrepaired on this VIN per NHTSA's June 2, 2026 refresh (see complaint 11741722). Ford's 25V863 NHTSA filing states a Park Pawl failure displays "A WRENCH LIGHT AND SHIFT SYSTEM FAULT MESSAGE... IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER" with automatic EPB application and roll-in-park crash risk. Ford has instructed me in writing to disregard the same notification surface that would warn of a genuine 25C69 failure. The two are visually indistinguishable without dealer diagnosis. REPRODUCED/CONFIRMED: Ford itself confirms the defect in its written release note. INSPECTED: No dealer or independent inspection of this OTA-induced false-positive has occurred; Ford preemptively instructed disregard. WARNING LAMPS / FIRST APPEARANCE: The wrench-light icon and Ford App service-needed notification ARE the symptoms. They began with the May 10, 2026 OTA install per Ford's published note. Both are also the warning channels for the unrepaired 25C69 safety condition. I request ODI review of whether OBCC-AS.AU constitutes a defect under 49 U.S.C. 30102(a)(11) when it masks an active federal-recall warning channel on the same VIN.Read more

Ford Motor Company has failed to remedy NHTSA Safety Recall 25V863 (Ford recall number 25C69, Integrated Park Module / Park Pawl Engagement) on my vehicle within the timely manner required, and the recall remains in "Recall Incomplete" status more than four months past Ford's own stated remedy availability deadline. The recall was announced on January 26, 2026. The defect — the Integrated Park M
... odule (IPM) failing to properly engage the Park Pawl when "P" is selected — creates a documented safety risk of roll-in-park and increased crash risk, per Ford's own filing summary as displayed on NHTSA's VIN-lookup result. At the time of the January 26, 2026 announcement, Ford stated that no remedy software was yet available and committed to a Q1 2026 remedy-availability deadline. That deadline (March 31, 2026) elapsed without a remedy being authorized. As of NHTSA's recall-data refresh on April 7, 2026, the recall remained "Recall Incomplete" on my vehicle with no remedy available. As of NHTSA's recall-data refresh on June 2, 2026 — 137 days after the original announcement and 63 days after Ford's own Q1 deadline — the recall still shows "Recall Incomplete" on my vehicle, although Ford has now (very late) authorized dealers to perform the SOBDMC (Secondary Onboard Diagnostic Module C) software update as the remedy. I am filing this complaint under the criterion explicitly published on NHTSA's VIN-lookup recall-result page: "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline." The substantive concern is not that the remedy will never arrive. It is that a remedy for a documented roll-in-park crash-risk defect was not delivered within the timeline the manufacturer itself committed to, leaving my vehicle and similarly affected vehicles in an unrepaired safety-defect state through the Q2 2026 window. This is exactly the manufacturer-timeliness failure per NHTSA's guidelinesRead more

The 2.0L EcoBoost engine in my 2018 Ford Edge Titanium experienced head gasket failure due to Ford’s known cylinder channel design defect present in 2015–2019 EcoBoost 2.0 engines. Ford scored channels between cylinders in an attempt to improve cooling, which allows coolant to degrade the head gasket and mix with engine oil. Symptoms included white smoke from the exhaust, coolant loss, rough i
... dle, and a check engine light prior to failure. The coolant-oil contamination caused engine performance degradation and risk of sudden failure while driving, endangering myself and other motorists. The engine drained all coolant unbeknownst to me while driving, causing the car to overheat and causing damage to the head gasket. Car had to be pulled over and towed to a shop. Head gasket was repaired, but the issue continued and more coolant was found in the engine oil in 2026. Coolant constantly has to be replenished after driving. The failure was confirmed by an independent mechanic. The vehicle has not been inspected by Ford or NHTSA. Ford has not issued a recall for this known defect despite widespread reports from 2015–2019 Edge, Fusion, and other EcoBoost 2.0 owners experiencing identical failures. I am filing this complaint to contribute to the pattern of evidence needed to compel a formal NHTSA investigation and potential recall action.Read more
