Three different dealers have been dealt with. Each one says that they cannot recreate the issue but that it should be cleared up with the next software update. Yet, it continues to happen. Manufacturer has been notified but has not asked/offered to inspect the vehicle or the area where the issue can be recreated (however, we have recently notified the manufacturer - we relied on the dealerships in the past year). Police nor insurance representative have inspected (nor been asked to in all fairness). Each time, either immediately before or contemporaneous with the braking has been a loud audible beep. Safety of the general driving public is at risk, not just the driver and occupants of the vehicle, because a sudden emergency braking incident with no hazard present is dangerous and can create the exact issue that the system should be preventing: a collision. The date of the incident listed is the approximate date of the last incident. The first one was in the Spring of 2023. The vehicle was purchased used in January of 2023 with approx. 4k miles on it. ... as shocked to see hundreds of other owners with a 2018 model 3 also experiencing the same issue in 2024 (assuming after they replaced the recently recalled harness). I strongly believe that these two issues are related and that the camera should be replaced alongside the wiring harness. Several people on this forum have been quoted hundreds or thousands from tesla to replace the harness (including myself) and are taking matters into their own hands by replacing with after market parts. This is a serious safety issue since the cameras control all self driving functionality. I’m shocked that it’s not already been addressed through a recall! The first time my system had gone out while on Autopilot, the car flashed and sirened and asked that I take over. Since then all my driver assistance features including my rear camera are no longer functional. Misfire codes that indicate a bad fuel injection system, including issues with previous models for the same issue. My car was running very roughly and stuttering at high speeds. An independent garage confirmed that the car had bad fuel injectors at only 80,000 miles and it cost $950 to fix. I had 6 check engine lights appear from this issue. Honda refuses to acknowledge or do anything about it.

If you wiggle the wiring leading from the trunk into the car, the camera may come back on. Once you wiggle the wires you have to gently close the trunk but if you open it you have to repeat wiggle then shut gently. Lately it appears more of a delay when camera is on which is a major safety issue. The camera shows that it is clear when actually it may not be. I was pulling out of a parking spot when the camera was on delay. Thankfully I was able to avoid an accident when a car was approaching. However something is preventing the image from appearing on the screen which decreases visibility and increases the risk of a crash. It resembles "buffering" when it is "delayed". Since there is an exact issue as well as a software update for newer Compass models, this recall and fix should also include my 2018 Jeep Compass.
