MOTORCYCLES REAR BRAKE POWER IS VERY POOR AND IN MANY REPORTED CASES NON-EXISTANT. THE REAR BRAKE IS SO WEAK AS TO BE NORMALLY INCAPABLE OF EVEN ACTIVATING THE ABS SYSTEM AT THE REAR WHEEL. STOPPING THE MOTORCYCLE USING THE REAR BRAKE IS EFFECTIVELY IMPOSSIBLE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. I HAVE A DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND HAVE BEEN A MOTORCYCLE RIDER FOR OVER 50 YEARS. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE MOTORCYCLES AND IS DISCUSSED IN LENGTH ON PUBLIC FORUMS WHERE OWNERS ARE TRYING TO FIND A FIX. THE REAR BRAKE IS INEFFECTIVE AT ANY SPEED. THE BLEEDER SCREW IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CALIPER AND IT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PROPERLY BLEED. THE BRAKE LINE LEADING TO THE CALIPER IS TOO CLOSE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CAUSING THE FLUID IN THE LINE TO BOIL. I'VE DONE EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OF TO FIX THESE ISSUES BUT THE BRAKE IS STILL INEFFECTIVE.

I TOLD THEM THAT I DOUBT THIS WAS BEING CAUSED BY A FAULTY CHARCOAL CANISTER. THEY INSISTED IT WAS THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. I HAD THEM REMOVE THE CANISTER, BUT THE PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY. I'M SURE THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE ECU. THERE ARE EVEN YOUTUBE VIDEOS OF A GUY EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH HIS BRAND NEW DUCATI PANIGALE V2 A FEW DAYS AFTER HE BOUGHT IT, AND HE DID NOT TIP HIS BIKE. I BELIEVE THAT THE DUCATI PANIGALE V2 SHOULD BE RECALLED UNTIL DUCATI FIGURES OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE ECU. THIS IS CLEARLY AN ECU PROBLEM, AND IT COULD LEAD TO SOMEONE'S INJURY OR DEATH.Read more

THE BRAKE LINE PASSES MUCH TOO CLOSE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH VAPORIZES THE BRAKE FLUID AND CREATES A GAS POCKET IN THE LINE. THIS RENDERS THE BRAKES UNUSABLE. FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS MY 2016 MULTISTRADA FUEL GAUGE SHOWS THE FUEL TANK AS EMPTY REGARDLESS OF ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL. OCCASIONALLY IT WILL SHOW A QUANTITY, BUT THE QUANTITY IS NOT CORRECT (SHOWS FULL WITH A HALF TANK OF FUEL, OR SHOWS 2/3 EMPTY IMMEDIATE AFTER FILLING UP). DUCATI MULTISTRADAS FROM MY2015 ON (AS WELL AS THE DUCATI DIAVEL AND XDIAVEL) HAVE A WELL KNOWN, REPETITIVE FAILURE OF THE FUEL SENDER CAUSING AN EMPTY INDICATION. THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH THOUSANDS OF MULTISTRADAS AND DIAVELS, AND IT A TOPIC OF MUCH CONSTERNATION IN THE DUCATI COMMUNITY. DUCATI IS ON AT LEAST THE FIFTH REVISION OF THE SENDER, BUT IS REFUSING TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE UNITS ON MOTORCYCLES OUT OF WARRANTY. MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SENDER REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES UNDER WARRANTY, FOLLOWED BY FAILURE AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRATION, WITH DUCATI REFUSING TO REPAIR THEM FURTHER. DUE TO THE CRITICALITY OF FUEL GAUGE FUNCTION, THIS SHOULD BE ELEVATED TO A RECALL TO FORCE DUCATI TO DESIGN A PERMANENT FIX, AND THEN REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE UNITS. MOTORCYCLE IS DESIGNED WITH KEYLESS FOB. FOB WILL NOT ALWAYS ACTIVATE THE DASHBOARD AS DESIGNED. BATTERY IN THE FOB AND THE MOTORCYCLE ARE LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD. THE FOB'S BATTERY TESTS GOOD USING A BATTERY TESTER. THE BIKE BASICALLY LEAVES YOU STRANDED WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT.
