MY MOTORCYCLE HAS A PLASTIC GAS TANK THAT HAS BEGUN EXPANDING/SWELLING. THE DIMENSIONS OF THE TANK HAVE INCREASED ENOUGH THAT IT NO LONGER SITS PROPERLY ON THE FRAME RAILS AND CAN SHIFT TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, CAUSING IT TO RUB AGAINST THE IGNITION AND DAMAGE THE PAINT. ADDITIONALLY, THE TANK HAS SWOLLEN ENOUGH TO PRESSES DIRECTLY AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH FROM THE REAR. IT PREVIOUSLY HAD AT L

EAST AN INCH CLEARANCE THAT ALLOWED THE TANK TO OPEN AND CLOSE WITHOUT PROBLEMS (IT IS ON A HINGE), BUT NOW IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO ENGAGE THE LATCH, AS IT IS WEDGED AGAINST THE IGNITION MODULE I HAVE NOT SIGNIFICANTLY MODIFIED MY MOTORCYCLE EXCEPT FOR SOME COSMETIC CHANGES. I HAVE MADE NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE FUEL SYSTEM AT ALL, INCLUDING THE FUEL TANK OR FUEL PUMP. I TOOK THE BIKE TO THE DEALER WHO SUBMITTED A CLAIM TO DUCATI NORTH AMERICA (THE IMPORTER/FACTORY). I AM WAITING TO HEAR AS TO WHETHER THE TANK WILL BE REPLACED. EVEN IF IT IS REPLACED, I HAVE NO FAITH THAT THE REPLACEMENT WILL PERFORM ANY BETTER, OR THAT IT WILL BE REPLACED WHEN THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. I'VE BECOME VERY CONCERNED AS TO THE SAFETY OF THIS MOTORCYCLE. IF THE TANK CONTINUES TO SWELL, IT WILL CONTACT THE HANDLEBARS AND IMPINGE ON THE TURNING RADIUS. THE VEHICLE I'M REFERRING TO IS A 2008 1098S DUCATI. WHILE IDLING, DRIVING OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE MOTORCYCLE WILL SHUT OFF WHEN THE CLUTCH IS APPLIED. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND REGARDLESS OF WHAT GEAR I AM ON OR THE MOTORCYCLE'S TEMPERATURE. THE PROBLEM BEGAN SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING THE MOTORCYCLE OFF OF THE DEALERSHIPS LOT. EACH TIME THE BIKE IS RETURNED UNDER THE PREMISE THAT THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. DURING A TWO WEEK PERIOD I DOCUMENTED THAT THE BIKE SHUT OFF 16 TIMES. DURING ONE OF THE SHUT OFFS, I WAS SPLITTING LANES. THE CARS GOT TOO CLOSE TO ME AND UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES AND THE CLUTCH THE MOTORCYCLE SHUT OFF INCREASING MY CHANCES OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. I OWN A 2008 DUCATI 848 MOTORCYCLE. IT HAS ONLY 4000 MILES ON IT AND THE RADIATOR STARTED LEAKING. THE LEAK ON THE RADIATOR IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE RADIATOR WHERE RADIATOR MOUNTING BRACKET IS LOCATED. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RADIATOR IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT WHEEL OF THE MOTORCYCLE WHERE 80 PERCENT OF BRAKING IS MOSTLY DONE AND ALSO STEERING. I INFORMED DEALERSHIP
