It is clear Subaru is aware of a manufacturer defect impacting a safety critical part but has minimized their costs by restricting the recall to a small subset of vehicles. Additionally, given that Subaru is charging $850 for a relatively simple component, Subaru may be seeking to profit from their own mistake. I request that NHTSA require Subaru to extend the recall to ALL vehicles with that component, not just the ones with manual transmissions. While automatic transmission vehicles have the parking gear manual transmission vehicles lack, I can think of a number of circumstances in which a parking brake could be critical. Barring that, I request NHTSA order the manufacturer of that component to provide repairs free of charge in the event of a failure.Read more

This is the second time it has happened in the span of about 4 months. The mechanic was not able to diagnose the cause after the first occurrence. After the second occurrence, the local Jeep dealer was contacted; they were not aware of any such issues and recommended adding fuel injector cleaner and changing the spark plugs/getting a tune up. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My Lexus 2020 UX200's brake malfunctioned and caused a crash accident into a restaurant on February 29th. It was inspected by Lexus Liability and an independent mechanic on March 13th, 2024. ... ugh when the Lexus failed to stop without fault on my part. It put myself and people in the restaurant in great risk of serious injuries. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The independent mechanic my husband and I hired conducted assessment and confirmed that the accident was caused by brake module malfunction. The Lexus freeze data shows Brake module voltage from ecu appears to have dropped to 8.6 volts prior to accident which caused the brake module malfunction. At the time of inspection, the voltage was 13.8. It appears that the voltage drops intermittently. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Manufacturer Lexus inspected the car on March 13th under product liability Case #240301000412. There is a police report. Insurance AAA totaled the car without inspecting the braking system. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The car was originally purchased as a brand new car in 2020 and regularly maintained by Lexus dealer. But the engine did not start one time with warning sign that the remote key can not be detected. Dealer replaced the car battery for this problem. There were times when the doors do not open for a few minutes. There were a few times that it seemed that the car did not come to a complete stop. I rented a 2020 Ford Mustang on 01/16/2024. I drove it home and didn't use it until 01/28/2024 for short trip to the grocery store. I waited in the car and kept it running while my daughter shopped. The car shut itself off twice, but there were no red warning lights. So I restarted with the push button, and after the trip drove the car home and parked in my drive. Two days later, on 02/01/202

The car was seen going on fire before the structures. The rental car company used a fire investigation company who towed the car (for evidence). However, they have not given me their report.Read more

The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. My wife has had nightmares since the return of us jumping the Seven Mile Bridge or diving off a cliff in West Virginia and we would be dead along with the cousins riding with us and any other vehicle we hit with completely locked steering.
