My automatic braking system and cruise control will no longer work as a result of the ABS failure, which makes this very dangerous to drive. I only have around 90,000 miles on this car and planned to keep it long term, but finding that I cannot get parts. I have also always had many problems with the fuel system. The light goes on all the time for the fuel cap even when it is on. The dealership advised it is the closure for the fuel tank that keeps having an issue. Size 185/55/R15 82B. A set of tires was purchased May 2024 from Tire Rack. After driving less than 400 miles - the front drivers tire went flat while driving. Upon inspection of all four tires we noted all four are dated 2013. We were sold tires that are 11 years old and are therefore a danger.

Within first couple months of ownership we had a wheel insert come off. We had it replaced at dealer Dec 2022 and noted it was two small bolts holding on the insert to actual wheel. The screws (2) appeared to have sheared off and are in line with brake rotors, calipers, and wheel itself when dislodging. Same resolve as metal screws/bolts go directly into plastic insert which has no metal lining and no protection against breaking from stress, cleaning, and high speed turbulence thru this area. Less than a year later and we now have one missing insert that came off during highway, one loose we removed and found one bolt missing and sheered plastic, and a third one that is loose. Dealer will repair and replace under warranty but would not put on lift and check all inserts. There are approx 5 inserts per 18 inch wheel. This is a safety issue as the bolt will come out of fall into the wheel brake system. It could get lodged into calipers or pads and cause harm at least. When using the power liftgate, in normal day to day use, the strut had seized and the lift gate was stuck open. As we were parked, we attempted multiple times and different ways to lower the lift gate by the buttons provided for their lift gate, the key fob and by manually attempting to close. ... Ca, Mina, a representative who assisted, advised to hold the center button to reset the electricals. That did not work. He then advised to manually push the lift gate closed in order to drive it to them and be serviced. When advised by Mina, a Volvo associate, the liftgate still would not close and we were only able to close it half way before taking it to them to be examined and serviced as it is still under warranty. This became a HUGE health and safety issue when using a component of the car that is expected to function flawlessly day in and day out. If this had happened in our garage, we would not be able to get out. After a few attempts we drove the car to Volvo Santa Ana Ca, and dropped it off, they took several days to respond to let us know what was happening. The service department director, Mark, had advised that the strut seizure causing the lift gate to not function is a common occurrence and that the struts would be covered by the warranty but the liftgate WOULD NOT BE; as it was no longer aligning (due to faulty, defective strut) and thus Mark claimed it was on us, to replace or repair. This was absolutely ridiculous. The defective part of the Volvo is what caused the issue. If one is covered then both should be. We did not get into an accident. We were parked. There is absolutely no damage to the liftgate prior to this date. We then opened a case with Volvo customer service and they also denied it. We feel this is unethical and a health and safety issue that Volvo does not care about nor care to inform their customer that faulty struts are common.Read more

Hyundai offered me a low settlement but there is know recall on the specific VIN for electrical or engine issues. The following weekend I met a guy who just purchased a pre-owned Hyundai and after leaving he stopped at a red light and the vehicle engine compartment went up in flames while parked. My 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport with 63k miles does not show any open recalls relating to fires however, my car was parked, went to turn it on, smelled an electrical smell and white smoke began billowing out of the engine. If not for me thinking and the action of others, many others cars could have been burned and my family burned and injured as they are still shook up about. Was driving normally going 65 mph on the highway when white smoke was emitting from inside the steering wheel. Between the dashboard and steering wheel. Engine was fine and no warning lights came on. Everything ran great except for the white smoke. I don’t know what it could be. Luckily it didn’t catch on fire

Intermittently, when braking to slow down towards a stop, the brakes let loose, and the vehicle surges forward for a very short spurt (like less than 1 second). Upon closing the driver’s side door, the panoramic sunroof exploded. The car is currently at the dealership where it was purchased. It is available for inspection. Safety……Any occupants within the vehicle would have been exposed to the shards of glass if the sunshade was open! The dealer stated that Hyundai has approved the replacement of the exploded sunroof glass and the cleaning of the
... glass remnants inside the car. The was no warning or symptoms prior to this incident. We requested a loaner vehicle but as of today we have not received one. Completion date stated 1 week..order and installation. The rounded upwards photo of the sunroof glass, the stress fractures at the front and rear of the glass as well as the inward bending of the front sunroof corners gives every indication of an upward movement of the glass from within the car.
