My 2012 Dodge developed an engine issue at 129,000 miles. The issue was rough idling and no acceleration. I took it to a Dodge dealer. They diagnosed it as a chronic cam issue with this generation Chrysler hemi engine. I had the cam and replaced at Waldorf Dodge. The cost was at $3400. I believe this is a known problem and Dodge is aware of exactly why it happens. Lack of oil pressure to two of th

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my vehicle due to repeated mechanical failures that have caused it to become unreliable and unsafe. My vehicle has experienced ongoing issues despite multiple repair attempts. Most recently, the vehicle broke down again and left me stranded while I was transporting my mother to a critical cancer appointment and the 1st time had me stranded on the highway
... late at night. This situation created a serious safety concern, as we were left stuck in the vehicle without reliable transportation for the 3rd time. This is not an isolated incident. The vehicle has previously been in the repair shop for an extended period (over 50 days), for a separate issue that has been resolved. Despite these repeated failures and loss of use, the manufacturer, Stellantis, has declined a buyback request. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle due to its unpredictability and repeated breakdowns. This poses a risk not only to myself and my passengers but potentially to others on the road. I am requesting that this issue be investigated as a potential safety defect.Read more

Engine light came on, no warning. Took to garage to check diagnostic system, went through system, did some work and light went off. Week later, light back on..took back to garage - they documented all they saw within diagnostic system and sent me to dealer. There was no indication of failure, drove fine but dealer made appt. Did some research and found out this year/make/model had complete engine
... failure at low mileage. No recall ever made. 3.6L Pentastar V6. Dealer took apart manifold, ran compression test, intake/exhaust valves leaking, engine block flatness - had to replace engine block. No precipitation of this issue other than engine light. A complete engine failure without an accident, at low mileage and a known issue without a recall on a specific engine is quite concerning. I basically paid $14, 400 for a new engine where I could have bought a used Durango . My 2000 Durango had well over 100k miles when I donated to charity and purchased this 2015 in 2016 off lot as used with 22 miles on it. I am not sure how to reconcile this damage and out-of-pocket expense for a known issue when no recall was made. Did I buy a lemon? Given the same engine was put back in, will I have to replace again in another 50k miles? I feel like I am due some type of refund given this problem is a known problem but no recall was issued. Thankfully it did not overheat, blow the engine while driving or cause an accident given this issue was a ticking time bomb.Read more

I took the vehicle in for recall last year and it would not work within 5 months and I saw a transmission warning something about tcm or tsm. I called the dealership and the mfg and both would not pay for the tow and the car sat in my parking lot over the winter. About 4 weeks ago , I jumped the car battery and placed it into drive and within maybe 5 feet it stopped in the middle of the parking
... lot and i saw a warning that said something like no gear found or detected. I turned off the car and turned it back on and safely put it into reverse and quickly back into the parking spot otherwise it would have been stuck in the middle of the parking lot . I restarted the car and saw the same no gear found or detected warning message on my dash and when i put the car in drive the car would not move into any gear . The car is completely inoperable and EXTREMELY UNSAFE and this is due to the SECOND recall that has NO CURRENT FIX. When i contacted the mfg about the two recalls last year, they said that the second recall has no fix and nothing they could do. i can not afford a tow and owe payments. I am reporting an unresolved safety recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V-674, Manufacturer Recall Number: A0C) for my [year/make/model]. The recall was issued on October 9, 2025, and remains listed as “remedy not yet available.” My vehicle is now inoperable due to the defect identified in this recall, resulting in a complete loss of use. Despite the severity of this safety issue, the manufacturer has not provided a repair, interim solution, transportation assistance, or a timeline for when a remedy will be available. This represents an unreasonable delay in addressing a known safety defect, and I am being forced to go without a functioning vehicle because of it. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and require the manufacturer to provide an immediate remedy or appropriate consumer relief. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS SEVERE ISSUE . It’s July 7, 2025 driving the car to get to a work related visit. It’s a 14/15 mile drive from my home. I get to my destination. ... t’s an 80 degree day no rain. After 3 minutes the lights go away, I am driving very cautious, I’m not sure why the both lights came on. The lights come on a second time. When those lights come on the car did not want to drive. It felt as if the breaking system either kicked in or thinks it should. I started looking into what it could be with the help of father. We changed speed sensor and wheel bearing of the front right wheel tire. I had a friend run his own OBE reader and it had signaled the issues was coming from that. Took it for a test drive and at a green light both traction and ABS lights come on and I stuck there unable to accelerate. At this point traction control and ABS light come on and stay on for half the day. I’m no longer driving the car. I finally come to terms that I have to take it to a mechanic. I take it to Dealership in November 2025 they run the diagnostics on it and turns out the ABS module and Rear right tire sensor are the issue. At that point they informed me the ABS module is back ordered it may take a week to 2 weeks for the part to arrive. My car stays at the shop the part still has no ETA. On March 13 the dealer informs the part arrived and they fixed the vehicle. ABS module was very corroded per the service report. 3/29 the traction light comes on the dashboard stays on for a minute then leaves it continues throughout that week. A week later, ABS and traction light on. I go back to the dealership with my concerns. I’m informed the ABS module has water leaking inside, it was cleaned out. The engine in my vehicle (2007 Charger, 49,000 miles) has completely failed due to "Casting Sand Sludge". This issue has been acknowledged by FCA Stellantis; but only in much newer engines. The failure in my vehicle, from the "casting sand sludge" caused the vehicle to have engine heat issues, which could have started a fire or resulted in the complete seizure of the engine at speed, potentially l
... eading to a catastrophic and fatal outcome. The fact that the issue is present in my vehicle strongly indicates that FCA Stellantis was aware of the Casting Sand Sludge issue far earlier than they have acknowledged. The Service center suspected a head gasket issue, so they began to address it; what they found was casting sand sludge throughout the engine block. An issue which is an inherent defect of manufacturing, which is unknowable to a unsuspecting owner - until a total failure occurs. This issue would also coincidentally constitute a breach of the "implied Warranty Of Merchantability", as the issue makes affected vehicles not fit for their intended purpose. The Service Center that found the defect is an Authorized FCA Stellantis Dealer/Service Provider. The Service Manager has had an "Conference Call" with an Area Service Manager & A Service Technical Advisor. The Service Manager has indicated that it is casting sand & has told me that if the manufacturer has him send them the engine that i what he is putting on the report. He has told me that he feels that the manufacturer likely will try to bury the issue by attempting a "Forced Buyout". Cursory, research by myself has found that Casting Sand in the presence of H.O.A.T or O.A.T. coolant & heat forms a sludge which over time {40,000 to 55,000 miles} renders an engine unusable, risking catastrophic failure or fire. LX Platform vehicles of the era 2005-2009 were considered "Durable for intended purpose for 150,000 to 300,000 miles". Casting Sand left in the engine block, during manufacture, violates that durabilityRead more

The dealership diagnosed the failure as requiring a complete engine long block replacement at a quoted cost exceeding $23,000. The powertrain warranty has expired based on the 3-year time limit; however, the vehicle has fewer than 56,000 miles, which is well below the warranty's mileage threshold and exceptionally low for a vehicle of this age. The vehicle has been properly maintained throughout ownership with regular oil changes and scheduled service intervals. No aftermarket modifications have been made; the engine and all related components remain factory stock. I contacted Stellantis customer care to request assistance. They stated that because the vehicle is no longer under warranty, there is nothing they can do, and that the dealership should have submitted a goodwill assistance request on my behalf. The dealership said they would look into it.
