... hen we bought it. The first time it happened, we were traveling to the beach. We had already driven about 1.5 hours on the interstate without stopping and then we got into a lot of stop and go traffic due to an accident. The Engine would cut off like normal after coming to a complete stop and having my foot on the break. When I took my foot off of the break, the engine sounded like the vehicle was trying to start, but was sluggish. It sounded like it was a bad battery issue. I had to place the vehicle in park, then press the start/stop button to turn the vehicle off with my foot on the brake, then press the start/stop button to start the vehicle. The vehicle did not have any issues starting. After a few times of this, I replaced the battery even though Advanced Auto Parts said it tested fine. I did not have the issue for 4 or 5 months after that. Then it started happening on occasion again. I have taken it back to Advanced Auto Parts and the battery tested fine. Another scenario was just today where I had been driving for about an hour on the interstate. I got off the interstate and shortly after getting off the interstate I was stopped at traffic light. The Auto Engine Idle Shut Off feature activated. When the light turned green, I took my foot off the brake and the vehicle would not even attempt to start and the shifter changed to neutral automatically. I tried to start the car and it would not even start. I had to put the vehicle into Park, then I was able to start the vehicle without any issues. I was traveling straight, approaching a rightward bend in the road. My steering wheel was still straight ahead because I had not yet reached the turn. Meanwhile a vehicle was coming the opposite direction around the bend. I believe the system engaged because I was steering straight toward the other vehicle - not taking into account the fact that my lane would bend before reaching it. In this case the system did not stop the vehicle but it did cause a rapid change from 60mph to 40mph in a section of road with no obstructions where neither myself nor drivers around me would expect my vehicle to slam on the brakes. Had the surface been slick such a maneuver could cause loss of control. Again - had drivers behind me not been attentive - I could have been rear ended.Read more

Once I was in a safe place I called KIA headquarters immediatly, I was told that I have to pay to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership and that I would be reinbursed depending on the issue of the vehicle after being diagnosed. The very next morning I called KIA corporate to open a case for the vehicle, in which i was told that my specific year, make and models engine was under a lifetime warranty. I then recieved a call from the dealership Decmember 6, 2024 and i was told my optima would be diagnosed and if the issue is due to the KIA engine class settlement that the engine would be replaced free of charge and if it is not then I would have to pay $380 to have the engine repaired under the lifetime warrantly & that the car could not be looked at until December 16, 2024. Once December 16, 2024 came around I recieved a call from the KIA dealership and I was told that my vehicle could not be diagnosed due to the time frame in which i bought the vehicle and that I needed to have my car moved from their lot or I would get charged $80 a day storage fee so I had to have my vehicle towed back to my home where it is currently just sitting. To this day (January 22, 2024 I am still dealing with trying to communicate with KIA CORPORATE AMERICA to have this matter resolved for I am very aware of the engine recall issue for my specific year make and model. Therefore, they are blaming the incident on "excessive braking" which is ludicrous considering that I drive my 38 foot diesel pusher in the slow lane and never follow too closely. Dealer did not complete recall while in service Nov 15 2024, service order shows parts are on back order. After 2 months I reached out to Corp who reached out to dealer. Both copr and the dealer ended up calling back just yesterday, however the message from copr stated the part is ordered it's way but the message from the dealer stated software upgrade needs to be done first before ordering parts.
... But why software upgrade was never done 2 months ago while performing service? I can smell excess gasoline 5 mins after remote started and my thermometer temp spikes significantly upon start. Car has only 12k miles. I am afraid car is going to burn down and they will do everything possible to avoid repair/replacement. I'm hoping this would create a record of historical events as well as poor service performance by the dealer.Read more

I leased a 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T from Island Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Staten Island on [XXX] The day after I leased it multiple lights including the check engine light came on and the vehicle has electrical malfunctions. After 16-17 service visits the vehicle still does not work to this day and I am still having drivability issues. I have been stranded on [XXX] multiple times as well as broken
... down in the middle of the road on separate occasions. It has been in service for over 140 days throughout the months on 2024 and I am still waiting for my next service visit a year later. Dodge corporate office has refused to repurchase the vehicle back from me more than 5 times already. They keep giving me broken vehicle back. I even tried to get a lemon law attorney but Dodge corporate office has also denied a repurchase of the vehicle to them as well. They only offered a small settlement to continue my lease even though the vehicle still has issues. This has effected my mental health from fear of driving and has put my life at risk many times during vehicle engine and electrical failures. This vehicle is not safe and they wont take it back. It has also effected my work life due to me not always being able to drive in to work. I am drowning in nerves, frustration and fear that one day this vehicle can cause me to lose my life. I have both key fobs with me in the vehicle and it will not start. I have a message on the dash stating” key fob not detected” I live in North Dakota and the winters here reach temperature to -40. I find this issues to be very dangerous, potentially being stranded in the middle of nowhere and not being able to start your vehicle manually.
