It’s been several times that I’ll be driving, sometimes on residential roads and once getting onto the highway. The transmission will suddenly drop down into first gear and I’ll have to limp off the side of the road until I’m going slow enough to be in first gear, then I can go again. I use this car for work daily, see patients in their homes. The driver door won’t locked, for 2 consecutive days and this is not the first time incident. Whenever this happens, I notify the dealer but they said VW does not have repair/solution to it yet. So, the car’s safety features (emergency braking, lane departure assist, adaptive cruise control and etc) are not functional. This makes it
... dangerous for us/drivers. Because the door is unlocked and car is running, it sends signals/sounds warning the door is unlocked. It is terrifying driving the car while it’s raining. I am unsure if the car will suddenly stop. Also, the anti-fog doesn’t work unless I turn on the heater which reduces my mileage. I can barely see the road when it’s pouring rain. The car doesn’t charge to its usual 200 miles at 80% (recommended), only charging 180 miles at 90%. Hope you can help me please as I am the bread winner in the family. We do not have extra budget to get another car. Our old 2010 Prius is only good in town, not in major highways. If something happens to me due to this car’s manufacturing faults, my husband and child will be left destitute and end up homeless. Thank you for your assistance.Read more

We purchased this vehicle in the summer of 2019. We’ve had it barely six years. For one year, it was barely driven as my husband was deployed. It doesn’t even have 100k miles. We were informed by ford that the transmission needs to be completely replaced as the torque converter is slipping. It’s absolutely insane that a $60k car can’t be depended on to last 100k miles. After doing some res
... earch, it seems like this is a very well known problem within the ford edge community. And the fact that ford has no responsibility to fix this is an abomination. Look on Facebook and there’s countless stories of the same issue. This is absolutely not acceptable. We had zero intention of purchasing another vehicle. We had planned on driving this ford edge for many more years as that’s what’s to be expected with a car that’s really only been driven for 5 years. We are out of thousands of dollars. Will never purchase a ford vehicle again. Which sorta breaks my heart because within my family, we’ve only ever purchased ford. Never even considered a different model. Our next purchase was going to be a ford truck. Very disappointed that ford seems well aware of complaints and deficiencies and aren’t doing anything to rectify it.Read more

While driving on the highway, the engine overheating light came on, the car seemed to be losing power, and I pulled over and was then towed to the dealership. The tow truck driver noted that I had lost coolant fluid due t
... o a large puddle beneath the car. The dealership reported that the aluminum coolant line had rubbed against the transmission cooler and had broken through, causing a loss of fluid. The dealership replaced the coolant line and also stated that they cut an extra piece of aluminum and wrapped it around the coolant line to reinforce that line and stop it from rubbing through by rubbing against the transmission cooler. I stated that this seemed like a design defect but the dealership responded that these things just happen. I note that there appears to be a similar recall in 2022 Durango Hellcats for the coolant line being subjected to abrasion from rubbing on the serpentine belt. The dealership did not return the parts to me; I do not know whether they provided them to the manufacturer for inspection.Read more

My transmission seems to do a JERK when I press the break. It is like it is struggling to shift down and it jerks me forward. It happens when I am stopped behind other cars. It makes me very nervous In the car line sometimes it jerks so hard I am afraid it is going to hit another car or even a child if they get too close and my foot is on the break and it just pops up unexpectedly! There are MANY

They also noticed the jerk when we drove with them twice and did resets to try to solve the problem. It did not solve the problem. At our last appointment they told me it was normal and theres nothing they would do. My Notes- November 2024 - purchased vehicle. The drive was perfect for many miles and months! Nothing out of the ordinary. January - I stopped at a stop light with my daughter and it did the "jerk" -- My [XXX] noticed it too! She said "What was that Mommy!" She thought we hit something! Kept doing it for a couple weeks. Feb 17 - Took car in - technician didn’t notice any jerking. I asked if I could ride with technician. Feb 18 - rode with technician. Quickly noticed jerk and said he has had a few people bring it in for this concern.. did a reset. [XXX] - the jerking began again - very noticeable. Feb 21 - dropped off at dealer again. March 3 - picked car up - they said they couldn't reproduce - Josh rode with service manager and very noticeable jerking when shifting down.. seems worse than before.. said he will speak to some other person and see what to do. They reset again. We took car home. [XXX] - drove pretty regularly.. very very noticeable jerking when shifting down. Worse than before. March 10 - Took back to dealership.. got a loaner March 17 - Said they reproduced the jerk but it was normal and there was nothing they would do to help! Despite having over 200,000 miles, a Firestone inspection from September 2024 confirmed the vehicle was in good condition prior to the failure. Additionally, Hyundai Theta II engines are widely known to suffer from excessive oil consumption, a defect that can lead to premature engine failure even in well-maintained vehicles. Hyundai has replaced engines in vehicles with similar mileage under the same extended warranty, yet in this case, no proper inspection was conducted before denial. Safety Concerns: The fuel pipe recall was not inspected, raising concerns about whether unresolved recall defects are leading to engine failures or fire risks.
