The rear differential on my Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid has failed twice. The first failure occurred around 12,000 miles and the second around 50,000 miles, both while maneuvering slowly in a parking lot. There were no warning lights or messages beforehand. The failure caused grinding and drivetrain resistance while turning. During the second incident, a certified Subaru dealer confirmed the rear dif
... ferential had failed again. They also discovered that Subaru had issued a revised version of the differential that is no longer compatible with the original axles, requiring additional parts to complete the repair. I was informed the original design has been discontinued, suggesting Subaru was aware of an issue. This kind of drivetrain failure is a significant safety risk, especially if it were to occur at higher speeds or in traffic. The issue has now occurred twice on my vehicle under normal driving conditions, and was verified both times by a 2 Subaru dealerships in Southern California. When I returned to pick up my vehicle, I was told by the service technician that another hybrid Crosstrek had just come in for the exact same failure. Additionally, a local independent Subaru performance shop mentioned they have performed three similar rear differential replacements this year. This clearly appears to be a recurring problem, potentially linked to a design flaw, and I believe it warrants further investigation.Read more

While driving my 2018 Toyota Highlander (UA80F transmission), I began noticing a faint high-pitched whining noise between 25–45 mph around 63,000 miles. Over time, it progressively worsened, eventually including intermittent jerking and hard low-speed shifts, particularly during acceleration or uphill climbs. In wet conditions, the drivetrain lurches slightly under throttle, increasing risk of l
... oss of control. I had a transmission fluid drain and fill service performed by a Toyota dealership at ~58,000 miles, along with full 4WD maintenance (differentials and transfer case). Despite this, symptoms developed shortly afterward. Toyota was notified and a corporate case was opened. I provided clear sound recordings, videos, and a full inspection history, and cited their Customer Support Program ZJC (POL19-04) for known defects related to UA80F whine and washer tab failures. Although my build date falls within the general failure range, Toyota refused coverage and claimed it was “operating to spec.” Tier 1 support initially confirmed ZJC eligibility, but Tier 2 reversed course with no follow-up. Dealership service also failed to elevate the case properly to my Zurich warranty provider, who required dealer confirmation to proceed. Multiple other owners have reported similar failures around 60K–100K miles, and I believe this is a dangerous latent defect that Toyota is attempting to narrowly contain. Whining precedes jerking, and jerking precedes full failure. Many complainants, like me, are met with stall tactics, deflection, or no follow-through. There were no warning lights or diagnostic codes, but the safety risk is growing. I believe this transmission issue deserves expanded CSP eligibility and potential recall investigation.Read more

On [XXX] after only 400 miles on the odometer, I experienced complete transmission failure while on a highway and was nearly hit by the vehicle behind me, luckily that did not happen. On April 29th, a new replacement transmission was installed by the Chevy dealer, and now on [XXX] I had experienced a severe burning smell from under the hood of the vehicle accompanied with a grinding sound, which

On 05/15/25, the customer care manager informed me that the new transmission from the factory has metal debris inside the pan, and the vehicle would again require a complete "tear down". This is very unsafe for major powertrain components from the GM factory to keep failing, another failed transmission on a brand new truck like this is very unsafe especially because I drive on major highways to commute for work and transport my young children. This is unsafe for the public and my family, GM needs to be held accountable, they also refuse to refund me my money back on this vehicle, and are disregarding Lemon Laws in NYS. Brake system warning light comes on and says reduced braking take to dealer. Auto hold brakes don't always hold. Rear brakes non stop squeal and grab un predictably. They refused and instead replaced the front brakes, then admitted it is the rear brakes but refused to repair them. Honda of America also refuses to repair rear brakes. Based upon false statements on the work order the statement from the dealer is the rear brakes on the MDX are supposed to be like this. This vehicle has issues with the warning light while stopped and moving, and the noise and unsafe braking is at all speeding from 1-60 mph. Forward and reverse is malfunctions. I asked Honda America to repair which they won't then I ask them is the official statement these brakes are okay and safe as is and they will not say that either. I have driven similar models of this vehicle and it does not do the same thing, no noise, or warning lights, and the brakes preform safely and consistently. Mine do not. Honda of America does not want to repair the brakes under the warranty. They also incorrectly stated on repair statement that humidity and car washes can make the brakes do this. I have been in northern non humid states during winter and never use a car wash. They just use this as an attempt to not repair the brakes.Read more

My 2023 Lexus RZ450e experienced a sudden failure of the 12-volt battery, which completely disabled the vehicle and prevented it from starting. The battery failed while the car was plugged into a Level 2 home charger, but not in ‘Ready’ mode. There were no warning signs or alerts, and I had to call roadside assistance to jump-start the car. After the incident, I brought the vehicle to the d
... ealership. They tested the 12V battery and said it was “fine.” However, during the 100,000-mile maintenance, I specifically requested a battery re-check—and this time, the battery failed the test. This raises serious concerns about the reliability and longevity of the 12V battery in this vehicle, as well as the inconsistent diagnostics at the dealership. If the vehicle had failed to start while I was away from home, I could have been stranded in unsafe conditions. Safety Concerns: The 12-volt battery powers essential systems, including door locks, ignition, and electronic control units. Its failure disables the entire vehicle. The fact that this happened while the car was plugged in, but not in “Ready” mode, suggests a potential design flaw or charging system issue. I’ve also seen reports from other RZ450e owners experiencing similar 12V problems, which may point to a broader systemic issue. Requested Action: Please investigate potential defects in the 12-volt battery system and whether the Lexus RZ450e’s charging system fails to maintain battery health during regular use.Read more

I’ve brought the vehicle to Tesla service twice. The first time (when it was still under warranty), they said they couldn’t replicate the issue. The second time, I brought it in while the warnings were still active. Tesla only cleaned some sensors and returned the car, but the issue returned again recently with all the same symptoms. This only happens in hot weather. Once the car cools down, the errors disappear. This intermittent issue is difficult for the service center to replicate, but it presents a serious safety risk, especially because steering and braking functions are compromised. I believe this is a deeper electrical or software issue affecting multiple safety systems under thermal stress. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my deep frustration and serious concerns regarding the repeated and dangerous failures I have experienced with the battery systems in three separate Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles – model years 2022, 2024, and now 2025 4xe. At first, I considered the possibility of coincidence or simple bad luck. Now, it is evident this is a systemic and known issue that Stellantis/Jeep has failed to address. It is absolutely unacceptable that a brand-new Jeep product could exhibit such a fundamental reliability defect, and even more troubling that no proactive support or acknowledgment has been provided to affected consumers like myself. This is disgraceful, inexcusable, and beneath the standards expected of any automaker, let alone one that charges a premium for its products. This situation also raises serious questions about the strategic direction the company may have taken under their former CEO, Carlos Tavares, whose well-documented focus on near-term cost-cutting and margin improvements appears to be manifesting in subpar quality control and dangerous engineering compromises. I demand to know what Stellantis is prepared to do in response to the severe design flaw and associated safety risks with the new battery and electrical systems in their Jeep products.Read more

I was pulling into my apartment division I heard a loud pop and the vehicle then died. I tried starting it back up and it then caught on fire. My door locks were stuck in the locked position and I could not get them to unlock. Within a few seconds (which felt like several minutes) the doors did unlock and I was able to get out.
