I was sitting in the vehicle while it was in park, idling, and the driver’s seat active headrest suddenly deployed. Nothing struck the vehicle to cause it to jar suddenly. I was sitting in my kids’ school parking lot dropping them off. When looking inside the deployed headrest, it seems like there is a broken plastic piece that possibly works to keep the headrest “latched.”

While pulling a travel trailer I got onto the freeway. As I have been pulling the trailer for a while now with this vehicle my comfort speed is around 45mph but will push up to 50mph maybe 55mph at the most. Anyways while entering the freeway I accelerated and as I got ready to merge I let my foot off the gas but the peddle stayed down and the vehicle continued to accelerate until around 80mph to
... 85mph when I finally got the peddle to release and stop acceleration. I quickly got off the freeway to calm myself as I was terrified I was going to crash. During this incident the first thing I did was tap the brakes lightly which did absolutely nothing and the car kept accelerating next I grabbed the floor mat thinking that maybe it was obstructing the peddle, it was not. Then I quickly used my foot to wiggle under the peddle and pull up multiple times until it finally released and came up stopping acceleration and luckily to my relief I did not crash although I had come very close had there been any more traffic or if I had got going g any faster I may not have been so lucky. This only happened the one time where I got to dangerous speeds but since then the peddle has started to stick two other times but this times it was much easier to get the peddle to release and I wasn't towing a trailer. I read that this happened in another model in freezing temperatures fro. The same manufacturer but couldn't find anything to it without freezing temperatures. I think it is a manufacturer defect that maybe affects other 2002 Dodge Durango I dony know if pulling the trailer triggered this or not as I said it has happened twice since and that was without a trailer attached. Definitely scary and should be looked at.. I don't have the funds to take it to a shop so I haven't had it professionally looked at yetRead more

I was sitting in my van, with it running at Sonic, and i started smelling a terrible smell. I thought the smell was coming form outside so I rolled up the windows and the van started filling up with smoke. He pulled the cover off and all of the wires were melted all of the way down the inside of the panel. I have seen recalls for previous year models for this same type of occurrence, but not for this year model. I am thankful my other children and grandson were not in the car in the backseats where the fire started. This area is on the gas tank side as well and that was a scary thought as i was supposed to travel tomorrow in this van.Read more

So being I have over 167k miles on it it’s not even worth fixing. 2018 Dodge Charger with only 6900 miles. Issue began in fall 2020 at about 6700 miles, shortly after the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty ended. U-CONNECT 8.4 System malfunctions as often as twice per second and perhaps 30 times per minute, causing unsafe distractions (multiple beeps) and possibly more. Sometimes it is the radio switching channels, with an annoying beep each time. Sometimes it is
... a clock setting display which pops up with a beep asking "Do you want to change clock settings?" When these thing happen, other electronics act up - map and navigation goes crazy, phone bluetooth interface goes crazy. When U-Connect is acting up badly, the rearview backup camera sometimes does not work when transmission is shifted into reverse. The U-Connect can be used to adjust drive-train performance thus representing the possibility of an additional safety hazard. Disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it seems to reset it but only helps for a little while; from 1 minute to a day before it starts acting crazy again.Read more
