The exhaust manifold bolts on both sides of the engine warp due to two different metals being put together under heat. Steel and aluminum expand at different temperatures. This causes the bolts to break off of the exhaust manifold creating an exhaust leak into the engine bay. Yes, this can be inspected upon request. The safety of myself and the general public is at risk due to the exhaust leak i
... nto the engine bay being pulled into the cab via the heating or airconditioning system. The exhaust fumes are pulled into the cab of the truck via the heating and airconditioning system. When running, the truck has a very noticeable smell inside the cab. It has caused me headaches as well. This poses a risk to the public if the driver were to pass out from said fumes. The problem can be reproduced and is a known issue with Dodge. It is very well documented online that this problem happens to nearly all Dodge Ram trucks. It has never been recalled because Dodge says its not a "safety" concern. This is very much so a safety issue. The components have been inspected by others, and verified as broken. I will not take it to a dealership to have it inspected as they want to charge 150$/hr to diagnose something that even they recognize as a known issue. There were no warning lamps, messages or any visible indication of this problem. A loud ticking noise and a strong smell of exhaust fumes are what brought the issues to attention.Read more

The drivers side seatbelt is coming unlatched while operating the vehicle. This happens sometimes with very little tension and almost always when a more sudden stop is needed. In my opinion, an item as

It is well known in the Dodge Durango community that the main tail light housing on these vehicles was not properly sealed from weather elements. Over the course of time, water intrusion will cause areas of the tail light to burn out, gradually leading to the entire system to fail. Dodge is well aware of this but does not offer any repair outside of warranty period if this happens on factory hou
... sing. The repair cost for this is astronomical considering this is a defect straight from the factory. Dodge needs to make it a point to create a recall for the Durango to have the tail light properly sealed and reinstalled at no cost to the owner. When these lights burn out this causes a massive safety hazard at night.Read more

The long rear tailgate lamp (called the CHMSL) suffers from water intrusion which results in LED failure. This is a reoccurring issue. I am now trying to get this lamp replaced for the 4th or 5th time (yes, I've lost track because it's ridiculous!) Dodge should do a recall and hold the lighting manufacturer accountable as it is a common problem over many years of vehicles. Why should the consu
... mer be burdened with having to replace this lamp every 1-2 years?? Lighting is a safety feature! Failure of LED's is a safety failure. This is an automatic recall so why hasn't a recall been issued?? Nothing on the vehicle system tells you the LED's are out. This affects visibility and can lead to accident, injury or death.Read more

1. Unknown, but podsibly the following: shifter mechanism, transmission linkage, and/or some other mechanism 2. The key is not releasing upon parking, this happens in dangerous areas and in compromising locations that have put my life at risk. I was unable to leave my car and a man with a knife approached me while I was facing this issue. It has happened several time and has happened another tim
... e with my husband also in the car and and a mentally ill man approached us as we tried to wait for the key to release. It is inconsistent and can take 0 seconds to 1 hour to release. 3. I showed the dealership near me during my recall repairs, and it happened once with them, but I'm unsure if they documented it. 4. The mechanism(s)/part(s) involved are not known, but the recent recall repair I had done involved a transmission bushing replacement. 5. It has not been inspected by any of the types of people stated, as I'm unsure how to even begin to have this checked out without it being an undue burden. This appears to be a massive issue with these vehicles, as there are many videos and forums online discussing the issue and no one has a consistent fix. Some say it's a plastic piece that must press a button to release the key. Some say it is a transmission linkage issue. No one has a universal answer for the same issue. 6. No signals, signs, or lights have ever appeared for this issue. It began in 2017 and I have had dozens of people look at it with no permanent solution. Today was the longest though, it took a fill hour to release the key.Read more

on May13th I was slowly pulling into my garage : as I was slowly easing my foot off the brake (but still in contact with the brake pedal), the car suddenly accelerated. It struck the water heater which is situated against the rear wall of the g
... arage with enough force to make my neck and shoulders hurt. There was a rubber trash can in front of the heater that may have absorbed some impact. There was a dent in the bumper. Inside the house, on the other side of the wall, the paint and plaster were cracked and somewhat displaced and a bureau pushed away from the wall. This acceleration happened without any warning. This also happened to my 2015 Dodge Durango in Feb 2019. The situation was almost identical; I was almost done pulling into the garage with my foot lightly on the brake when the car suddenly accelerated and struck the water heater, denting it and causing mor extensive damage to 2 walls inside the house. I had my own mechanic and the dealer evaluate that car and they couldn't find anything wrong. I did see reports of this happening to other 2015 Durangos at low speed. We traded in the 2015 Durango to the dealer because of the accident and their assurance that they'd never seen this happen (at the time it wasn't reported in any 2018 Durangos) and we bought the 2018 Durango that was involved in the May 13 acceleration. We have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel crew cab pickup that occasionally after hitting a bump or on rough roads the steering mechanism or suspension develops an uncontrollable harmonic vibration with one or the other front wheels bouncing. The only way to stop the vibration is to come to a complete stop. In heavy traffic it could be a serious safety issue. The condition is well known to Chrysler
... and is commonly called a "Death Wobble". The first incidence on our vehicle was around ten years ago, but newer pickups are reported to have the condition. By replacing just the shock absorbers then it seemed to have helped, but that fix may have been fortuitous. The Dodge service center at that time did know of or maybe did not admit to the issue. Recently we have had the return of a couple episodes of the Death Wobble. The internet has many aftermarket brackets available for the Death Wobble, so, I assume, the condition is well known. Chrysler now has replacement that I was told are stronger (and maybe of a better design), but any pickup of this model without the upgrade is potentially a very dangerous safety hazard. I assume there should have been a recall for this problem, but, from your website, there are no recalls listed for this vehicle. As a side note, the Jeep SUVs have also been reported to have a Death Wobble, but I have no information on whether the wobble with them is caused by the same defect with the steering or suspension systems.Read more
