Still, this is jarring when it occurs (all the more so at highway speeds), and I am left to wonder if at some point it will "graduate" to full door opening. I am also especially concerned given that I have a child with a driving learner's permit. I mentioned this in passing to a Volvo dealer service agent a couple of years ago, and he professed to be unaware of it and suggested I would need to bring it in for diagnosis etc. which I have not done. However, having been on the NHTSA site today and seen other complaints about this with this year, make, and model, I felt I should add my experiences to the record. Two owners of Forest River Georgetown Class A motorhomes, one a 2020 model year and one a 2022 model year, reported on a forum that one of the two brackets holding their 24.5 gallon water capacity ASME propane tank in place had its tack welds break, allowing one end of the tank to drop so far it was visible by passing cars. Both reported they were flagged down by people passing them. (The end of t
... he propane tank likely was bouncing up and down on the remaining bracket.) Both used a strap to hold the tank in place until the bracket could be re-welded. Both reported that the repair shop then installed two bolts through the front and rear bracket to help hold the tank in place if the welds broke again. Neither owner took a picture of the propane tank hanging down so the attached pictures show their brackets after the repair. 24.5 gallons water capacity is about 19.6 actual gallons of propane at 80%. On my motorhome a visual inspection of the affected brackets did not reveal cracked welds but did show that the front bracket on the propane tank itself was installed slightly off and the inner edge of the front tank bracket is against a welded corner of the bracket instead of flat against the front frame bracket. Light is visible in the gap between the tank mounting bracket and the frame mounting bracket. If other tanks are like this it could mean that the upward pressure from tightening the inner tank mounting bolt applied stress to the welded bracket where there should not have been any. (The approximate date of those two failures is unknown however the 2022 model year owner reported they had the repair covered under warranty. I thus selected today's date because the form field has a date as mandatory.) (I had to select Aftermarket Equipment as BAL OTHER because "OTHER" was not allowed. I do not know who installs the propane tank mounting structure. It could either be the final vehicle manufacturer or the third-party upfitter they use for similar work.)Read more

It slowly began losing speed, so I made my way off the freeway and made my way to the Ford dealer who had been maintaining the car. It felt like the car was going to stall any minute so I'm lucky I got to the dealer. It took them a few days to get back to me, and they then told me the entire engine and 'boost system' needed to be replaced at a cost of approx. $7,000 (probably just to get another defective engine). They tried to work with Ford to get some financial assistance since this is obviously a defective car, but Ford refused.The dealer suggested I call Ford, so I did, and spoke with a rep and a supervisor on May 22, told them their car was defective and my life had been put in danger, and they both told me they wouldn't help in any way. As I write this, the dealer has ordered parts and am awaiting repairs. I will have been without a car for 3 weeks, paying for Lyft and borrowing cars to get to work. MCU1 onboard computer system becomes overloaded with data that eventually and periodically causes the computer system to "crash" and requires a reboot, even with 8 GB eMMC replacement having already been installed. This means that vehicles with MCU1 (generally model S and X manufactured pre-2019) are increasingly becoming safety risks on the road because the MCU1 system crash can occur at any time
... , even while driving (not just when the car is going through it's start-up cycle). Whenever this occurs, it means the driver is unable to change the headlights which is especially harmful during dawn and dusk hours since these models do not have daytime running headlights. Drivers may be unable to use turn signals, unlock power doors (the Model X has power-driven doors on all sides) and advanced systems may be inoperable during the MCU1 rebooting process. This issue can be resolved by replacing the MCU1 operating system with the MCU2 operating system, but Tesla requires MCU1 owners with Auto Pilot Computer version 1.0 to pay $1,750 for what they are calling an "infotainment upgrade." This is disingenuous terminology used by Tesla because the MCU1 operating system is not just for "infotainment" - it is beyond that and includes significant safety features as mentioned above (headlights, doors, locks, windows, ADAS, and more). Tesla needs to cover the cost of replacing MCU1 with MCU2 or a new system that is stable and does not experience frequent data crashes. In other words, there must be a fix beyond the 8GB eMMC "band aid" that has not resolved the chronic failure of MCU1 systems. This is a continuing safety issue and driving hazard for all Tesla owners with MCU1 until a recall is issued.Read more

I could not turn off the engine with the ignition button (keyless ignition). There was no way to turn off the engine without opening the hood and disconnecting something manually. Everything spontaneously went back to normal for about 15 minutes, then it happened again and has not gone back to normal since. During this time, I have been contacting Dealership almost every week trying to get any clear explanation but they refused to give me any information or cancel the warranty contract. The fact that the car had several severe safety issues. On April 3, 2023 I was driving my kids from school and my car started to burn on the road. Heavy smog and explosions started coming from under the hood - inside the car. I had to do an emergency stop on the side of the road, quickly grab my two boys and run away from the car. I called 911. The police came and they called the fire station. Police officer made a police report, I have a case number. Same day my car was taken to the Midas. Midas specialist explained to me that this car was under the risk of fire to drive and can start burning at any time. The air conditioner exploded because it was under very high pressure. The mechanic found another safety issue - suspension was not attached properly and it was very loose. It might have caused a loss of control over the car, while driving, ultimately resulting in a severe accident Also, less than a week before, on March 28, 2023 I had to do another major service at Midas for the same car. My vehicles screen flashed a brief notification that I needed to update my Nav software. Afterwards the vehicle began flashing a distracting audible and visual alert of random road hazards...caution road is slippery...or rough...or whatever....literally EVERY FIVE SECONDS. There is no way to turn off the audible sound or alert. You can dismiss it, but that only prompts it to return immediately.
... Other owners report that the dealerships have no fix. Hyundai has pulled down access to the software update. A factory reset is reported not to work. The only way to stop it is to pull the fuse disabling the whole climate control system and infotainment/nav system. It has been since ~May 4th.
