I have a 2017 Kia Sorento and I have been having problems with the turbo, in the 7 years I have had it they have replaced the turbo twice and now this would be the third time. Every job done has been at the Kia agency I bought it which means this is definitely a manufactured problem. The problem has been confirmed with the dealership service center all 3 times and they offered to replace it at no cost the first two times and now they are requesting I pay for it. The vehicle has not been inspected by the police or insurance, all 3 times I have taken it for service has been at the Kia dealership where I bought it from. The oil filter housing in the Jeep Grand Cherokee is known to have serious problems and safety concerns. The Pentastar oil filter housing used in these vehicles can crack and warp due to heat exposure and this can lead to serious oil leaks. ... filter housing for newer vehicle models. This oil filter housing is prone to so many issues mainly because it is made from plastic, not a metal that can withstand high engine temperatures. My mechanic is replacing the plastic housing now with an Aluminum one that will withstand the heat and pressure needed to hold up. He told me that it has been a major issue for several years now and he has personally changed several of these out over the years. At one point he said it was such a big issue that he couldn't get parts to repair numerous vehicles that ended up sitting in his lot for a long time until parts become available. Everything I read online suggests that this is a major issue and one that people can't understand why Jeep has not been ordered to recall the wrongly designed housing. The safety issue on this one is potential breakdowns on highways where oil will make roadways slick and cpould also start an oil fire when oil starts to spray on the hot engine. Stranded cars will be parked on the sides of the road posing a risk to them and the other cars on the roads as well I didn't even know about the issue or that mine was failing until I had it in the shop to replace a leaking motor mount. It was during this work that they noticed the issue with the housing and told us that we need to replace it very soon. We decided to change it out and incur another 650.00 in repairs.Read more

... ght in the panel lit up. The van slowed down and wouldn't let me accelerate and it felt like the power steering wasn't active. I pulled into a parking lot and shut the engine off. After restarting, the check engine light was lit, but the van let me proceed. I took it to my auto shop that said the codes were all electronic/ software related and I had to take it to a dealership. The dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong and that the codes didn't save. On June 9, the lights started flashing again while I was parked in a parking lot while I was on a road trip. I was able to capture the end of it on my camera. I again turned the engine off and on again, and the van "reset" with only the check engine light on. I was able to proceed through the rest of the weekend and the check engine light actually turned off after a day. Then on June 22, the warning lights started flashing again. My son was driving this time (along with my husband and 2 other sons). He pulled into a parking lot to return the van home, but it wouldn't go into a gear. Slowly, they toggled through the gears until it would allow them to drive the van home. He also said that it felt like he lost power steering. Losing steering, the ability to accelerate, the ability to put the vehicle in gear while driving, and losing the ABS system and the electronic stability system definitely puts my family and others at risk of an accident. Do not drive the car for the rest of the weekend. 6/24/24: Start car in the morning. Check engine light is on as I drive it about 5 minutes to my local mechanic. He runs the codes and does the research and tell me that I need a new transmission and it is under warranty. I pick up the van later to take it to dealer and the check engine light is off. Drive to dealer and now the dealer says there is nothing they can do if the light doesn't go back on. After a week, dealership is not sure what’s wrong as the transmission has been replaced which did not fix the problem. Have been having power steering problems over the past few years. ... ths ago I was driving 55mph on highway when suddenly without any warning, the power steering failed and locked up making it very difficult to turn the wheel to get the vehicle off the highway safely. The power steering locking up put myself, my passengers and other drivers at risk bc I had no control over the steering. When I got the vehicle off of the highway a message repeatedly coming on and off saying “service power steering “ and another message saying power steering assist off service system. I was able to get the vehicle home, however the steering was extremely difficult especially in turns which is a major safety concern increasing a risk of an accident. I have done a lot of research about this issue and have found that there are numerous others with the same issue and same make/model as my 2016 Chrysler 300 C. I took the vehicle to another independent mechanic and they told me they couldn’t figure out what is wrong with it. I made another appointment with another mechanic and when I attempted to drive it “manually” as I had to do when it initially started doing this, the electric power steering has now completely locked up and the wheel is not functional at all and power steering has completely failed. This is not only a huge inconvenience but a serious safety hazard and should be investigated by the manufacturer.Read more

Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure, LT265/70R18. On [XXX] at 113806 miles, I discovered that the driver's side front tire on the vehicle was flat in my driveway. Investigation revealed a puncture in the tread of the tire, caused by a gravel stone still lodged in the tire. The tire had been installed on 6/20/2023 at 104513.5 miles, being in service for 1 year and 9293 miles, not even 20% into its expected life. Initial assessment of the damage to the tire, including the puncture size and longitudinal shape, suggests that repair will not be feasible and the tire will require replacement. While a flat tire due to foreign objects is commonplace, the safety concern here is that a simple small stone from a gravel driveway should not have been able to cause the failure of a 'Kevlar reinforced' all-terrain truck tire. I believe the materials or construction of these tires may be defective and may have insufficient tensile strength in the tread material, causing them to yield and fail at much lower forces than are to be expected from tires in highway use. At any rate a well-packed gravel driveway that has been in use for many years should not be a challenge to the safety and performance of a truck tire rated for highway use. This tire failure comes less than a month and 1000 miles after a more dramatic and catastrophic failure of another tire of the same model on the same vehicle. While coincidence cannot be ruled out, two failures of the same model tire, both related to weak or defective tread sections, points to possible defects that should be investigated. The contact added coolant to the coolant reservoir because the coolant level was low. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which was linked to the failure. This is a new 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, it's only 1k miles and 1 month after the purchase, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving in the afternoon on 6/20, there was a warning light that beeps and tells me I'm about to loss power. The engine light has been on since the incident, and eventually went away the next day morning on 6/21, right before I dropped it off at dealership to get it checked. They read the code and confirmed it was transmission. The dealer told me they will know what to do by mid next week, and if a new transmission is needed it will be a few more weeks before it can be fixed.
