I took my 2013 Ford F150 in on Feb. 15, 2019 due to a recall. They reprogrammed the software, only took a few minutes. This is recall #19S07. I contacted Ford customer service and I do not think they will fix this unless I cover the tab. I feel that this is unfair. I have taken it in and left it all day but they did not get to it, my local Ford dealer is out until mid November for service. My truck now gets stuck in first gear or downshifts into first gear and the instrument display goes wacky, no speedometer, etc. I noticed a green wrench icon light up yesterday when this happened. Over 1.2 million F-150's had this problem. Over 100,000 trucks did not receive the proper PCU reprogram and need new reprogramming. I believe my truck is one of these as I am now having the exact issues that the recall was supposed to solve. Fortunately, I have not been travelling at high speeds when this happens but this problem can cause the transmission to shift from any gear at any speed into first gear, which could be life threatening. According to Ford, it is the powertrain control module software that causes this problem. Trucks built at Dearborn Assembly Plant, 4/28, 2010 to 10/28, 2013 and Kansas City Assembly Plant, 5/18, 2010 to 11/18, 2013 have this problem. My truck's manufacture date is March 2013 so it falls into both of these timeframes. I feel that this is a severe safety issue and could result in serious injury or even death. In July of 2020 my 2017 RAM 2500 ABS and Service Electronic Brakes warning lights began illuminating intermittently. My vehicle had 12,343 miles on the odometer at the time and was three years old. This corrected the issue until August of 2024 when the above warning lights began illuminating again, intermittently, but in increasing frequency. The issue was diagnosed by a RAM dealer with the same code as above (C0020-1) and the recommendation to again replace the hydraulic control unit. My vehicle had 30,901 miles on the odometer at the time. The total for the service in 2020 was $984.89 and in 2024 $698.46 for the second replacement of a component within 5 years. Understanding that there was no recall ever issued, the ABS and Stability/ Traction control systems are designed to provide safety to vehicle occupants in heavy braking or loss of traction situations. While there was no noticeable difference in brake function, the presumption is that if there are warning lights activated, there is an unknown issue with the brake system which could result in brake failure. Further, the requirement to replace the same part twice in 30,000 miles at a total cost of $1,683.35 does not seem reasonable. Many owners have posted similar issues with this component with no apparent resolution other than to continue to replace the component when it fails. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a serious issue my vehicle has been unusable since July due to a defective AC control head. I initially took my vehicle to an authorized dealership, and they informed me that the part required is on national back order. After an extensive search, they located the part at a dealership in California, but the order was canceled. I was then told that
... many replacement control heads are being returned as defective, leaving me without a functioning vehicle. The dealership has indicated that the back order could take anywhere from one week to three years, which is an unacceptable and indefinite delay. I am currently unable to use my vehicle because temperatures in the Phoenix metro area average between 105+ degrees during this time of year. As a mother of four small children, it is unsafe and unreasonable to transport them in such extreme heat without a working air conditioning system. The lack of resolution has placed a significant burden on my family’s daily life. I am requesting immediate attention to this matter, as the situation is now impacting our safety and well-being. The turn signal is activating in the opposite direction. After completing a 90 degree right hand turn, when the turn signal deactivates it will turn on the left turn indicator for 3-5 seconds. This only happens when making right hand turns and I have been able to replicate it on multiple occasions. The vehicle has stalled several times while driving and while at a stop light leaving the van completely disabled and it will not turn on or start again. ... tiple times.. Stall has also happened at drive thru almost causing collision with vehicle in front. The stall produces dashboard error messages reporting an internal transmission malfunction, auto start/stop error, and or a problem charging the battery. Certified ASE mechanics can’t reproduce the issue or find anything to pin point the issue after multiple diagnostic tests ran and physical thorough inspection. Every time a stall happens loads of error codes (85+) pull up but none point to the root cause of stalling happening. Vehicle has most up to date software update done over a year ago.Read more
