Engine blew due to excessive oil consumption (at time of incident I had not a drop of oil left) with no warning. My safety was put at risk by my car stalling in the middle of driving with my kids in the car. My vehicle is now at a service shop, mechanic informing me I need a whole new engine. My dashboard never showed low oil light or service engine light, I never had black smoke or smell.

On 10/28/2024 at approximately 0515 I was traveling at 51 MPH when my 2022 Ford Explorer King Ranch edition with ~25k miles experienced catastrophic engine failure. ... dead and would not start. I am not sure if there was oil or anything leaking as it was dark outside. I called a tow truck and had the car taken to the Ford dealership. After initial inspection, the dealership moved the car to the "heavy maintenance" part of the service department. After a few days, I called to find out what they found and was informed the engine had "thrown a rod" and the entire engine would have to be replaced. After a week and a half, I called back and was told they are still disassembling the engine and their next step will be to submit a "cost cap" to Ford for permission to replace the engine. After researching the issue online, I came across the Safety recall 24V-598 on engine failures in the 3.3L size engine, typically only on police interceptor versions of the Ford Explorer. The information in the recall sounded exactly like what happened to my explorer but was told by the dealer the 3.0L engines were not affected and they had never seen one fail like this. I truly believe the 3.0L engine sizes are affected and the recall should be expanded to include this version of the explorer. I was lucky that I was able to safely drift to the side of the road, however, others may not be that lucky.Read more

Chrysler issued recall 72B back in July but has failed to provide a repair solution to the issue of a high voltage battery fire. They have advised to park the vehicle away from structures and to not charge. It's disappointing not to have a resolution or fix for this issue, especially going into the colder months and not being able to use the vehicle as intended.

The seat is able to forward face up to 40 lbs with a seatbelt install and 35 lbs with a latch install. When trying to install this seat with the seatbelt the instruction manual states not to lock the seatbelt after install however if the seatbelt inst not locked the seatbelt moves easily with some pressure (i.e. child pushing legs against back seat) and then becomes so lose that is can fall over.

(i.e. i would need to reinstall my seat every other time my child rode in the car). My EPC light began to appear randomly in early 2024. I received a recall notice on the gear shift trim around the same time, so called Jack Ingram VW in Montgomery to schedule a time for them to fix it (and also ensure they had the part). I asked them to also check on why the EPC light was coming on. Brought in my car on 2/28/24. Service Dept then tells me they weren't sure what was causing the EP

EPC light continued to appear at random. Each time it did, my car would shake and it would feel like I was losing control of the vehicle. I received another recall notice for the suction jet pump inside the fuel tank. When I called Jack Ingram VW to schedule this work, I asked if this had anything to do with my EPC light coming on. They weren't sure. The recall work for both the suction jet pump inside the fuel tank and the gear shift trim were completed on 8/28/24. Car worked fine until about a month later and the EPC light came on again. Called another VW mechanic in Montgomery (Powell's Automotive) to see if they can fix it. On 9/20/24 they replaced battery, spark plugs, ignition coil, and did an oil change. Worked great until [XXX] when my engine failed and left me stranded in the road. There were no warning lights prior to the engine failing. Could not restart car. Had it towed to Powell's who could not fix it, then to Jack Ingram VW. I asked them if this had anything to do with the recall work that was done. They said this would be the first if it was. They told me the in tank fuel pump needed replacing. Work completed 10/25/24. How can they work on the suction jet pump inside the fuel tank and not get a diagnostic that the in tank fuel pump was failing? The ongoing failure to address these defects has not only violated warranty obligations but also poses a risk to safety, as the vehicle remains inoperable. I was driving in city traffic and when I tried to accelerate, the Jeep would not increase in speed. It caught per se and nothing happened. Then, the Jeep started downshifting very hard upon slowing. Car was recalled for a battery issue and was allegedly fixed. 3. Car later died. The battery was completely dead for no apparent reason. We are advised not to charge the vehicle or park it near any structures or other vehicles! 5. While driving home from work, the Jeep suddenly stopped moving. The console where the shift gear is began to flash and I had to put my foot on the brake, put the car into park and then put it back into drive to get it to move again. When it went back into drive it lurched forward. Luckily no one was behind me at the time or they likely would have smashed into me or I could have caused an accident. According to online research it is another on-going problem, one article reads there are hundreds of complaints on the Jeep forums with no fix saying: When customers take their Jeeps in, the service advisors have trouble diagnosing the issue. And while Jeep has issued some recalls, the problems remain and the electric Jeeps continue to fail.Read more

I was driving my dogs to their grooming appt and they were sitting in the front passenger seat around 10am. I was driving a little under the speed limit of 40. There were no cars in front of me but there was behind and to the left of me driving. I was not approaching a stop sign or stop light, just driving down the boulevard, when out of the blue the emergency automatic breaking system applied
... the brakes very hard. I had my seat belt on, but my dogs flew to the floor of the front passenger seat. I was so concerned about my dogs I didn’t even look to see if someone almost rear ended me, but there was NOT a collision luckily. I pulled into a parking lot and checked on my dogs. Obviously our safety was at risk because the brakes applied themselves right out on the busy road with no warning at all and for no reason. There was nobody in front of me and no obstructions when the brakes applied themselves. I have not reported this problem to the dealer but I plan to after this incident. It has actually happened a few other times, but I was by myself the other times. Noone has inspected the vehicle and component for this problem, namely because it has not been the cause of an accident or crash so far luckily. There were no warning lamps, messages or symptoms prior to the car activating the emergency braking system, although once the brake was applied the flashing “brake” sign came on the screen. There was no warning for any previous occurence either, as I mentioned this has happened a few times before.Read more
