There telling people if they can’t duplicate when they drive it they can’t fix it. Problem is these dealerships aren’t driving consecutive enough to fix it. We took it to a dealer shop and they said it needs a new Power Transfer Unit. Very expensive part and it’s on back order because it’s failing on so many vehicles. They can’t even order it for 45 days. After researching this part, it seems it’s failing on many of this same vehicle. When I searched for a recall, it shows no recalls. I think this should be investigated. There was a recall on the power train that we had fixed. But it was just a software update. ... second it felt like the transmission just stopped working for a few seconds then hit 2nd gear hard. I was told this was because the truck needs to get used to the way I drive it. Which I now have close to 4,000 miles on it and it still happens almost every time I shut the truck off and it cools down to ambient temperature. I know this is not normal, and a big safety concern because when I do go to pull out and this happens it feels like a total loss of power and does not take off like it should. I have yet to bring it into the dealership. But I have called about the issue and was told this is normal and would go away. Which it has not. So I am going to make a appointment to get it in the shop. I have also read that many others are having this same exact issue. In which case some people are saying they told them the same thing “that it’s normal”, I have heard others say they will change transmission fluid because the fluid they used is to thick, and have heard of others who had to have them change out the control module for the transmission and or reset it. I am just worried that I’m going to pull out on day and have this happen and get hit from the rear because I don’t have the power I should have to take off properly. Not to mention I should not have to let my car idle for 5-10 min before I can drive it. That’s a huge waste of gas, and time, plus having your direct injection idle makes a ton of carbon build up in the engine. I am not a certified technician but I have been working on my own vehicles for over 20 years now. So a brand new truck should not be doing this.Read more

Advised common problem but no recall power train - transmission shutters when accelerating. Safety is at risk because vehicle will not accelerate or accelerate too quickly. Called to dealership advise flush transmission fluid twice to fix issue. We have done this 4 times in the past year. Shutter temporarily reduces but does not go away. Per service advisor it is a "function design" and if flushing transmission fluid does not fix issue then transmission will need to be replaced. There are no warning lights or messages on dash electrical - vehicle says shift to park when vehicle is in park and will not allow vehicle to turn off. It is a safety issue because vehicle will not shut off. Problem confirmed by an independent service center we have already replaced the in-line wire harness jumper. This did not fix the issue. ... rush hour highway traffic put me and numerus other rush hour highway drivers at catastrophic risk of multiple crashes, this could happen to anyone with the same car and especially concerning because our car had ALREADY been serviced in the 2 previous NHTSA recalls (see above) for the very issue (ICCU) that impacted our car nearly resulting in a catastrophic outcome. The confirmed failed ICCU component has only been inspected, and confirmed failed by the KIA EV certified technician at the Modesto Ca Kia dealership. The only message is that the passenger door is open which is a typical message when any door is opened when entering and exiting the vehicle. It is not a warning. Just a reminder. Doors shutting, latching and locking properly are a major safety concern that no vehicle owner should have to stress over. ... y my check engine light came on while I was on the freeway going 70mph. It began shaking at an idle. I got off the freeway, and parked. I was afraid to turn the car back on. The check engine light listed off numerous warnings of failed systems. Since my appointment wasn't until the next day, I left my car near the dealership overnight, instead of driving it back home for fear of causing an accident, or having my engine overheat or explode. I brought it to the dealership the next day, and they confirmed that I had a fuel injector issue, consistent with a known issue, for which I had an extended warranty letter re: the MIL warnings. However, they also noted a possible connection rod issue in the engine, and said the engine would have to be completely replaced or rebuilt. I have read and heard from many other people with a 2017 Honda Ridgeline that they have experienced this issue with their engines failing well before they should - at 90k miles, 140k miles, etc. There is a known issue with many of the 2017 Honda Ridgelines - and a recall did occur, but my VIN says my vehicle is not part of this recall - however, clearly my engine had the problem that Honda was aware of. My whole family was in the car when the check engine light came on, and the sound got worse - we could have been injured in an accident on the freeway, or had the engine overheat/explode while we were in the car. I NOTED THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND IT WAS NORMAL. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NO DTCS PRESENT WHEN CHECKED WITH A GENERIC SCAN TOOL. MY SAFETY WAS PUT AT RISK BECAUSE THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC.
