My car gave me a service airbag message when I started it on July 31st. I already had an appointment scheduled with a Chrysler dealer to resolve an unrelated recall issue, so I asked them to look into what was causing the airbag issue, as well. They told me that the jumper wiring needed to be replaced on both sides of the vehicle in order to resolve diagnostic code B0020-13. They quoted me over $2
... ,800.00 to fix the issue and told me that my airbags would not go off if I were to get in an accident unless the repairs were made. I am unable to afford this, so I contacted FHA customer service to seek cost assistance, but was told my car is too far out of warranty. My car only has 78,000 miles, so I should not have any safety issues with it. I was told by the technician that this is a common problem with my vehicle. Seeing as this is a safety issue and it is a common issue, I believe it is worth investigating to determine if it is caused by a manufacturing defect. I, like most people, cannot afford this costly of a repair, so I am putting my life at risk each time I drive my car, which I now know will not deploy the safety bags if I get in an accident. To make matters worse, I had to pay a $150.00 diagnostics fee just to find this out.Read more

Early 2021 the driver's side sliding door would not open from the outside or from the inside. At this time the passenger side sliding door was working. In May 2021 I took it to an independent service facility. They replaced the door latch assembly and checked the wiring. The door then opened and closed inconsistently. I took it back and this time It worked by using the key fob, the door button and

Also at this time the passenger side door stayed in an unlocked position and could be opened when all doors were supposed to be locked. Sometimes the door alarm would go off when it was opened this way and sometimes it didn't. At this point I took it to the dealership (7-29-2021). I was told the prior service center used a Mopar part and they would put it under warranty and replace it but I would be charged for labor. The passenger side door latch assembly would also have to be replaced, bringing the total to over $1,900. Estimated date of completion is 8-3-2021. This is definitely a safety problem since the door could not be opened from the inside and passengers in the back would not be able to open it under an emergency situation.Read more

My van only has 59,400 miles on it. We were on vacation stopped at a stoplight, when the light turned green, I stepped on the gas pedal, the engine would rev up and there was a high pitched sound, and then the van would jerk forward. The van exhibited difficulty with shifting. No warning lights came on before this incident, only after the van started to exhibit difficulty shifting. Codes noted

Debris noted in the pan. Transmission was replaced with reman due to debris in the pan and replaced trans cooler and flushed transmission lines. Had I kept driving my van, it could have easily stalled in an intersection. If that would have happened, my family could have easily been hit by on-coming traffic. There is a recall S44 for 2016 Chrysler Town and Country Vans for this exact thing happening to the transmission. I do not understand why my van is not included in the recall. My van only has 59,400 miles, this should not happen.Read more

When braking, the brakes will fail to engage and pumping the brakes is required to stop. When the brake is depressed at a light, the brakes will release, causing the car to start forward without pressing the gas pedal. The brake booster in ABS system is defective and on national back order. No recalls in place, but driving safety is severely compromised.

Fuel pump was replaced, problem continued, 2nd fuel pump installed, problem continues. Mechanic believes it is the TIPM, Totally Integrated Power Module. ** Headlights sometimes turn off while driving when totally dark. Not an issue of any ambient triggering headlight to turn off.

I suspect TIPM controls headlights set to AUTO, as headlights have a delay turn off when exiting the car. ** Horn turns on intermittently, when car is on or off. It will have short beeps or stay on for long periods. It may happen every few minutes, or days apart. As part of the alarm system, I suspect this could be another TIPM issue. Only resolution was to disconnect and drive without horns. Other randomly occurring issues that are likely due to TIPM: ** Smart front passenger window is erratic. The window should drop down 1/4 in when the door handle is pulled and as long as the door is open. When the door is open, the window will usually go back up (it shouldn't) but sometimes it works properly, and sometimes it keeps going up and down continuously, then stop, then start again. **Convertible top operation is erratic. It has many interlocks and sometimes it gets stuck 1/2 or 3/4 while opening, sometimes it may or not respond when closing. These problems have happened over the last year or so.Read more

At least daily it shifts hard. My foot would be off the gas and it will shift up. I have gone to the dealer to get it "fixed". They did a software update. It was fixed for a few days and started up again. The car only has 30K miles on it. Shouldn't be having these issues. There's no approx date. ... est. It seemed to have deployed for no reason. I Googled this and learned that it is a defective Active Head Restraint (AHR) system in many Chrysler vehicles, where the plastic breaks off and the headrest deploys unexpectedly when the car is not involved in an accident. I went to have a closer look and sure enough, the plastic piece in the headrest had broken off, causing the headrest to deploy. Because the plastic is broken, I cannot get the headrest to go back into place. This is definitely a defective part in the manufacturing of the vehicle. I am lucky that I was not driving at the time as I am sure it would have given me whiplash on top of the shock of having something like that explode behind my head which could have caused an accident. I read online that there are several class action suits in process for this exact issue against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. I don’t necessarily want to take part in the law suit -- I just want to get this headrest fixed so that the car is safe to drive again. How can such an important component of the car just give away like that, time and time again, and not be a recall? I Googled this and learned that it is a defective Active Head Restraint (AHR) system in many Chrysler vehicles, where the plastic breaks off and the headrest deploys unexpectedly when the car is not involved in an accident. I went to have a closer look and sure enough, the plastic piece in the headrest had broken off, causing the headrest to deploy. Because the plastic is broken, I cannot get the headrest to go back into place. This is definitely a defective part in the manufacturing of the vehicle. I am lucky that I was not driving at the time as I am sure it would have given me whiplash on top of the shock of having something like that explode behind my head which could have caused an accident. I read online that there are several class action suits in process for this exact issue against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. I don’t necessarily want to take part in the law suit -- I just want to get this headrest fixed so that the car is safe to drive again. How can such an important component of the car just give away like that, time and time again, and not be a recall? The active headrest restraint of the front passenger seat deployed, while the van was parked in our driveway. The plastic brackets were broken, so there was no way to reset the headrest. The vehicle was not in any type of collision when the headrest safety feature was activated.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the parking brake warning light had illuminated the instrument panel. After she checked her parking brake and saw that it was not engaged, she continued to drive and noticed an abnormal rubber odor coming from the vehicle. She continued driving and then noticed white smoke coming from the dashboard. The con
... tact panicked and attempted to stop the vehicle however, the vehicle continued to accelerate independently. The contact was able to drive the vehicle into a parking lot and placed the vehicle in park. The smoke then progressed from white to black as she tried to exit the vehicle however, she was unable to exit the vehicle since all the electrical features were inoperable. The contact then heard her doors unlock after multiple attempts to open them and immediately ran out of the vehicle. The contact called her husband who was a mechanic and he was able to drive the vehicle to their home. The authorities were not called to the scene and no injuries were reported. The contact's husband was able to assess the vehicle damage and discovered an active fire inside the dashboard module which he was able to extinguish. Her husband was able to determine that internal wiring within the module had caused the fire. Several electrical failures, as well as severe internal damage, rendered the vehicle undrivable. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.Read more

Purchased this used 2016 Chrysler 200 from Dan Derry in Cedar Falls. The next day my son was driving this car the air bag light came on. Contacted dealer and they were not aware of any air bag issues with this car and told us we bought AS IS. From what I am reading on line Chrysler has know about this for some time. I see this has a huge safety issue that sounds like it is pretty expensive to fix.

... istracted when the Uconnect system malfunctions, taking their eyes off the road and increasing the risk of the crash. They may also lose access to safety features such as the back-up camera and hands-free phone use. Sometimes the problem resolves if turn vehicle off, sometimes the fuses have to be pulled, and sometimes the vehicle has to go to the dealer. Chrysler has not addressed this issue properly with software updates as it keeps happening. Here is a list of components that will not work when UConnect radio goes blank: - GPS and navigation system keeps turning on and off, or doesn’t work at all - Rear-view backup camera doesn’t work when reversing, or stays on when the car is in forward motion - Uconnect theater system doesn’t work properly (no radio, rear DVD, music, etc.) - Climate control isn’t responsive - Heated seats don’t work or are “stuck on” - Loss of Bluetooth connectivity, which is necessary for hands-free calling - TV monitors fail to turn on, connect and/or sync with the Uconnect system There are currently class action lawsuits on this matter. https://www.classaction.org/chrysler-pacifica-uconnect-screen-camera-gps-theater-lawsuits Please hold FCA accountable to get a proper fix out to stop this issue. I have personally experienced this problem multiple times and have been to the dealer twice to try different firmware updates and still have problem.
