There wasn’t an accident. My ABS module has went out. Which has the traction control light, break light, power steering light, tire light, and ABS light all on, on my dash. My life was put at risk because of an oncoming Ford F-150. The placement and brightness of the headlights are such that oncoming drivers are immediately blinded and unable to see anything as the vehicle approaches and passes. While driving, the vehicle intermittently loses engine power without warning. The loss of power occurs at normal driving speeds and during acceleration, creating an unsafe condition in traffic. When the issue occurs, the vehicle hesitates and fails to respond to throttle input, making it unsafe to merge or maintain speed. The condition occurs intermittently and does not consistently trigger warni
... ng lights or diagnostic trouble codes. Despite the absence of warning lights or stored codes, the loss of power is clearly felt while driving and presents a serious safety concern. The issue has occurred multiple times and has not been permanently resolved despite prior service visits. The intermittent nature of the failure and lack of codes makes diagnosis difficult, but the problem continues to recur and affects the safe operation of the vehicle. This loss of power creates a risk of stalling or sudden deceleration while driving, increasing the likelihood of a collision, especially in traffic or at intersections. The issue appears related to the engine timing or powertrain system.Read more

Vehicle Issue Description (Rear Liftgate): The rear power liftgate intermittently fails to operate and presents a safety concern. The liftgate often will not open at all. At other times, it opens only partially (approximately one-quarter of the way) and then stops. When this occurs, the liftgate frequently will not close properly and sometimes fails to latch securely. This issue has been ongoing
... for approximately two years and has progressively worsened. It has now reached the point where the rear liftgate is no longer usable. If the liftgate does not open in an emergency, occupants may be unable to exit the vehicle through the rear, which could be dangerous in the event of an accident. Additionally, when the liftgate fails to latch securely, there is a risk it could open while driving, potentially causing cargo loss, reduced visibility, or allowing exhaust fumes to enter the cabin. Numerous Toyota Highlander owners report the same issue on public forums such as Reddit, indicating this is a widespread and known problem. According to these reports, dealerships are commonly diagnosing the failure as a failed liftgate strut, with quoted repair costs of approximately $1,500. I reported this issue to Toyota directly today and was told that Toyota does not issue recalls and that concerns should be reported to NHTSA. I am frustrated that this appears to be a known issue that has existed for years without corrective action. Component/System Failed: Rear power liftgate system (including latch and power operation components). Available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: Risk of liftgate opening while driving and inability to exit through the rear in an emergency, potentially trapping occupants. Dealer Confirmation: Not formally confirmed. A reset was recommended during a prior service visit, which worked temporarily for one day. Resets no longer resolve the issue. Inspected by Others: No. Warnings Prior to Failure: No warning lamps or messages.Read more

The original equipment (OE) tires (Size: 225/40R18) on a 2023 vehicle exhibited severe, deep concentric cracking on the outer sidewalls and near the bead/rim line of all four tires at approximately 30,000 miles. The safety of the driver and passengers was put at extreme risk as the structural integrity of the tires was compromised, posing an imminent threat of catastrophic high-speed blowouts on t
... he expressway. The failure was confirmed and reproduced by two separate professional facilities: the original vehicle dealership and an authorized tire manufacturer dealer. Both independent inspections concluded the vehicle was unsafe to drive and required immediate replacement of all four tires. The manufacturer's engineering review also inspected photographic evidence and acknowledged a material defect related to a "soft compound" breakdown. There were no warning lamps or symptoms prior to discovery; the defect was only found by a technician during a separate flat tire repair. Despite the manufacturer formally authorizing a 75% "goodwill" credit (Authorization #35936) after acknowledging the defect, they failed to complete the agreement due to internal communication breakdowns with their authorized dealers. This resulted in months of delay, forcing the consumer to pay the full replacement cost out-of-pocket to mitigate the documented safety hazard. The defective tires are available for inspection upon request.Read more

I am filing a safety complaint regarding unresolved recalls on my 2018 Ford Explorer (VIN: [XXX] ). FIRST RECALL: Over two years ago, I was notified to repair the exterior A-pillar trim/window shields. The dealer in Yakima, WA, placed me on a waiting list and said the part was unavailable. I have been waiting over two years with no resolution. Recently, while driving on the highway, this part fel
... l off and struck the windshield of another vehicle behind me, creating a dangerous situation and potential for serious injury. The dealer refused to repair it for free, stating I must either wait longer or purchase the part myself, despite this being a manufacturer safety recall. This long delay and refusal put my safety and the safety of others at risk. It also caused stress, confrontation, and concern for my financial obligations, as I continue paying for a vehicle with unresolved safety defects. SECOND RECALL: The high-speed cooling fan motor relay recall was not properly addressed. The dealer only started the vehicle, stated the fan worked, and performed no inspection or repair, leaving a potential hazard unresolved. FORD RESPONSE: I reported these incidents to Ford Customer Service, but they said the situation did not qualify for opening a case. I strongly disagree, as these are confirmed safety recalls and one part already failed during driving. ADDITIONAL CONCERNS: I am still making monthly payments for this vehicle while unresolved recalls continue to appear. The ongoing failure to repair these defects, despite multiple reports, creates financial and safety burdens. I request NHTSA to investigate these matters, require Ford to complete all recall repairs properly, and hold the dealer accountable for their refusal to provide free safety repairs in a timely manner.
