The camera system—including the backup cameras when you put it in reverse— more often than not produce an error on the display screen instead of a view of the rear rendering this mandated safety device unusable. It is available for inspection. The rear view camera is a mandated safety device required on all passenger vehicles. Not having it available makes it much easier to back into other veh
... icles or pedestrians walking behind the vehicle. This is a reproducible issue. It was inspected by a dealer and a problem was confirmed. It was repaired with a new module under warranty. Three months after the repair, the issue has reoccurred and the vehicle is no longer under warranty. The repair from the dealer did not fix the issue. It has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer. There is no warning prior to the issue occurring. The only warning is a crossed out camera as the error occurs. An internet search shows this is a very common issue with this vehicle.Read more

Ever since we’ve had the 2019 Chevrolet equinox which was purchased in 2019 from Capital Chevrolet in Montgomery, Alabama, the seats and the side mirrors both will not stay programmed. The dealership kept telling us there was nothing wrong and kept telling us how to program the seats and the side mirrors, per key fob. This was done over and over and still did not work. every time the vehicle is

The BECM (Battery Energy Control Module) failed. The vehicle illuminated the MIL and the driver display to show a "Reduced power". When restarted, the display showed "shift to park", which I did several times. After a couple of restarts it displayed the "Reduced power" message, but would not go into drive. THE MIL was illuminated the entire time. Through numerous key cycles I got the VIN oper
... able and took it to the dealer for repair. The BECM part is at the dealer or on its way back to GM as a core return. While this occurred while I was leaving my garage, it could have occurred in traffic, which would put me or others at risk. The problem was investigated by my local dealer (Currie Chevrolet in Forest Park, IL) and it was determined to be both a bad Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) and a bad shifter assembly. The shifter had been replaced (or repaired?) for an earlier Shift to Park failure per TSB 23-NA-119. The dealer kept the BECM as a core. I have pictures of the core. The dealer or GM should have that core. The above described warning lamps and messages and systems first appeared at the time of the event that lead me to take it other dealer ASAP. Note the condition and model year is described in GM special coverage letter "N232432680 Battery Energy Control Module Malfunction". NHTSA investigation PE23022 lead to this coverage letter. Per GM, while my vehicle experienced the conditions and is in the model year coverage of the letter, its VIN is not covered. I think NHTSA should re-open the investigation and consider a recall. There could be other VINS susceptible this failure condition. There could be operators of those VINs who cannot afford the expense (~$3000 or more) or downtime of the repair, and will keep operating the vehicle, putting people at risk again. If a recall is not supportable, I'd request that the VIN list be expanded to cover all possible defective BECMs.Read more

The car will suddenly have a high-pitched screaming coming from the speakers for no apparent reason with no way to stop the noise. Turning the sound system to zero volume or even turning the power to the radio off does not stop the noise. I have measured the decibel level between 80 -128 decibels with no way to make it stop. I have had to stop the vehicle on the freeway multiple times and turn off
... the car engine for 15-20 minutes to make it stop. I have recorded the sounds if anyone is interested in hearing them I tried to upload a file but it wouldn't let me an Mp4 file. 1)I purchased my car during daylight hours. A few days later I drove my car in the evening and could not see street signs or the road 1/3 of the way up through my windshield. There is a definitive line where the windshield turns black. It is extremely dangerous. The Toyota engagement center told me to take my car to the dealership where it was purchased. I also took photos of what I could not see
... while driving. The dealership said there is nothing they can do and this is normal. The engagement center called back after they received the photos and told me their head technician could not see the street signs looking at my photos either. I was told to take the car back again to the dealership and once again told " there is nothing that can be done." They told me to put on my automatic brights. This feature does not help. The dealership also told me I could just put on my brights manually. This blinds other drivers on the road and then they put on their brights driving towards me, which decreases my ability to see while driving. the Toyota engagement center dropped the ball after 3 months of trying to report how dangerous this situation is. I am now reaching out to your department because of serious safety issues. I did not buy a car to be placed in a dangerous situation where I can't see to drive at night up. It is very dangerous driving up and down hills. 2)I also want to report - most of the time my gas milage ranges between 18 - 22 mph. This is way below the stats that were given to me when the car was purchased. 3)The phone table does not charge my phone and is a complete fail. 4)The visors are too short and hardly serve a purpose.Read more

Email Subject I am reporting a serious safety-related defect involving sudden and complete vehicle shutdown while driving in a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST. Component/System Involved: The failure appears related to the 12-volt electrical system and associated vehicle control electronics. When the vehicle detects the 12V battery as dead or critically low, it immediately disables propulsion and
... control systems. The exact failed component is UNKNOWN. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Incident Description: This failure has occurred twice under similar conditions (ambient temperature approximately 25°F). On November 28, 2024 and again on January 2, 2026, after driving approximately two blocks at low residential speeds, the vehicle abruptly and completely shut down while in motion. In both incidents, the shutdown was immediate, without warning, and accompanied by a loud thud and an extremely abrupt stop. Safety Risk: In both incidents, the vehicle became completely immobilized in the roadway. I was unable to steer to the side of the road, restart the vehicle, or shift it into gear to move it out of traffic. This created a significant risk of collision. A similar failure at highway speeds could result in a severe or fatal crash. Warnings or Prior Symptoms: No warning lamps, messages, alerts, or other symptoms appeared prior to either shutdown. Problem Confirmation or Reproduction: The issue has occurred twice under cold-weather conditions. Inspections: After the first incident, the 12V battery was inspected and no issues were found. Following the second incident, the vehicle is currently being inspected at a Chevrolet dealership. No police or insurance inspections were performed. This behavior suggests the vehicle lacks a fail-safe or degraded-operation mode for 12V system failure and instead performs an immediate shutdown while in motion, which may represent a serious safety defect warranting investigation.Read more

I have never had tires this bad in snow, even though they are all season brand-new tires with full tread. I immediately bought a set of snow tires for the vehicle. I again tried these tires in snow in November of 2025 af
... ter they had roughly 10,000 miles on them, and again found them to be the worst tires in snow that I have ever driven. I am concerned these were a mis-build.Read more

2021 Silverado 19,000 miles no indication of failure at a busy intersection about to go thru intersection and engines started knocking, multiple check engine lights on. Luckily got thru the intersection and to my place of residence which was very close by. Truck was towed to Chevy dealer. Dealer found 3 bent push rods, 3 bad valves. This engine had the lifters fail completely out of the blue. Oil
... changed at the dealer, meticulously maintained. Dealer only replaced the faulty bank of lifters due to mileage, seriously if it was under 16,000 they would replace all of them. This is unacceptable. This truck left me almost stranded in a busy intersection, lucky I knew well enough to keep going versus getting T-boned. I just think GM needs to do something about this. Now fast forward to 41K and I'm at the dealer same symptoms except this time my warranty is running up soon and being forced into an extended warranty. There are plenty of online claims, chat rooms, posts, etc to warrant this as a safety issue.Read more
