When we first reported this problem to a Jeep Dealer in 2018-2019, we were repeatedly told that they were unaware of the problem we described, and since they couldn’t reproduce the malfunction, they could not effect any repair. Over time, the problem worsened, not with more frequency but with more and more force being required to overcome the steering wheel resistance - increasing the likelihood that one might inadvertently oversteer when breaking through that resistance. After a recent incident that could have caused a serious accident, we looked online and found that ours was not an uncommon problem. There are numerous reports describing this very issue on the carcomplaints.com website. And Jeep actually issued a technical service bulletin in 2018 (TSB 08-092-18) that not only describes the problem, but also the fix. So Jeep not only knew about the problem, but they knew how to fix it and did not do so when we were under warranty. Now they are saying the fix will cost us literally thousands of dollars. This issue is dangerous and should have been under a mandatory recall from day one.Read more

... tag affixed to the spare tire/wheel assembly mounted beneath the vehicle; and the owner’s manual. GM has not indicated that this limitation appears on the Monroney label, buyer’s order, or delivery documentation. The hang tag provided to me as an example states that the original spare tire/wheel does not fit the front axle when the performance brakes are installed. It instructs that, in the event of a front-axle flat, the consumer must install the spare on a rear wheel position & move a rear wheel to the front axle; and stow the flat tire. The spare tire is mounted underneath the vehicle. The tag is attached to the spare assembly and exposed to road conditions. In my case, when the spare was accessed following a roadside flat tire event, only a small piece of yellow plastic remained. Additionally, no printed owner’s manual is provided at delivery. During my roadside event, the dispatched service provider was unaware of any two-wheel rotation procedure and attempted to install the spare directly on the affected axle. The incompatibility rendered the spare unusable at that time. My concern is that current owners of vehicles equipped with the Performance Brake Upgrade may reasonably assume that a “full-size spare” is compatible with all wheel positions. Unless the undercarriage hang tag remains intact and is specifically read at the time of a flat tire, the incompatibility and required rotation procedure is not apparent. GM has not indicated it intends to notify new or existing owners regarding the spare tire limitation and required rotation procedure.Read more

I'm reporting a safety issue with BMW vehicles equipped with the B58TU engine, primarily 2019-2021 models. These vehicles have an oil pump with an internal plastic component that regulates oil pressure, and this part is fracturing in the field, causing sudden loss of oil pressure. The failure typically occurs during cold starts in low temperatures. When it fails, oil pressure becomes erratic or is
... lost entirely, often with little to no warning before engine damage or vehicle disablement. Warning signs, when present, include inability to measure oil level electronically, abnormal oil pressure, or sudden drivetrain malfunction warnings. These can rapidly progress to engine shutdown or severe damage from oil starvation. This creates a dangerous situation because the vehicle can become disabled without warning while driving or after startup. This is especially hazardous when cars become immobilized in traffic or during winter conditions when failures occur most frequently, leaving occupants exposed to freezing temperatures while awaiting assistance. Pump replacement requires extensive disassembly and commonly costs $6,000-$8,000, assuming no engine damage. A critical concern: owners cannot determine if their vehicle has the original plastic pump or the later metal revision. BMW's VIN-based parts lookup now shows updated components even when original plastic parts remain installed, and BMW has removed the original plastic part number from dealer networks entirely. Failures are reported across multiple production years, and the scope of affected vehicles remains unclear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. An employee at the dealer closed and opened the tailgate several times until the message disappeared. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the radio stopped functioning, the driver's door unlocked unintendedly, and the driver’s side seat belt failed to retract as intended. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the seat belts had failed. The contact seat belts were replaced. Most recently, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. In addition, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to respond. After a while, the vehicle was able to stop. The message "BRAKE System Failure” and “Replace Brake Pads and Rotors" was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. AND the engine cost is exactly 50% of what I owe on this car. I don’t know what to do, but never buy a Kia again. This is a hazard for everyone around me the gas it is putting into the air. I don’t know what else to do. I even paid them to do an oil change and the oil light lit up as SOON as I left the parking lot. There are no leaks whatsoever. I even had someone from the Kia engine settlement verify my VIN # and told me that it was eligible and she told me that everything would be taken care of at the dealership without charge. She then told me to wait for the dealership to call and let me know because I was on hold while they were talking. But right after I received a call asking how I was going to pay for it because they could not find anyway to cover it. I don’t know how to ask for a second opinion. Reported problem to West Herr Chevrolet of Hamburg NY , brought vehicle in to dealership on February 25, 2026 and they were “unable to duplicate the concerns” The dealership paperwork states that the vehicle stalled while stopped, this vehicle lost all power while it was moving. We now have the vehicle back in our possession but are extremely concerned for our safety and the safety of others.Read more

I am reporting a truly alarming issue with the Ford Blue Cruise Hands-Free Driving Assistance Feature where safety alert sounds have simply turned themselves off with no warning. I was previously using the BlueCruise feature on highways without incident. I repeatedly carefully watched the system for several weeks wondering if it was a glitch, and I also triple checked that ALL my alert settings were set to highest sound volume. Still - NO audible alarms are sounding. The alerts "RESUME CONTROL" and "watch the road" show up on the dashboard, but no sound is made. Previously there was a very loud alert which was a critical safety warning for me to resume control. Having already gotten comfortable with using the system, that they simply disappeared one day is truly alarming. Now I know not to expect audible alerts. I am very worried this is happening on other vehicles and someone may fall asleep on blue cruise, and then suddenly not be alerted to resume control. I think the audible alarms MUSt stay on. Transporting a [XXX] and a [XXX] in the rear seats, the sudden inability to open the sliding doors creates a terrifying entrapment hazard. In the event of an accident, fire, or emergency, I would be unable to evacuate my young children from the rear cabin quickly, posing an immediate threat to their lives. 2. Cargo and Security Hazard (Power Tailgate Control Module): Currently, the water leak has short-circuited the Power Tailgate Control Module. The system operates erratically: the tailgate automatically pops open as soon as the engine is turned off, and it refuses to open manually. Beyond the security risk, this electrical short could cause the tailgate to unlatch unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion or stopped in traffic, potentially dropping cargo onto the roadway and creating a crash hazard for other drivers, or allowing carbon monoxide exhaust to enter the passenger cabin. This is a well-documented and widespread structural defect affecting many 2018-generation Honda Odysseys. Water destroying critical safety modules (doors and tailgates) is a severe design flaw that goes far beyond normal wear and tear. I strongly urge NHTSA to open a formal investigation into the roof seam sealer failures on the 2018 Honda Odyssey.
