REPEATED STARTING FAILURES (electrical/battery/starter system): - March 17, 2026: Complete battery failure, vehicle would not start. AAA/GM Roadside Assistance called. SAFETY RISK: Sudden starting failures create stranding hazard and risk of being rear-ended in traffic. 2. WATER INTRUSION THROUGH HEADLINER (sunroof/headliner/mic assembly): - April 15, 2026 (10:40-10:45am): Approximately 1 ounce of water poured from headliner/radio microphone assembly directly into driver's eyes while driving on expressway. Continued dripping intermittently for hours. SAFETY RISK: Complete vision obstruction while driving at highway speeds. 3. INTERMITTENT SAFETY CHIMES (electrical/infotainment): - Ongoing for weeks: Five rapid electronic dings with NO dashboard warning lights or indicators. Occurs sporadically while driving (10 occurrences in one recent day). Dealer previously informed by phone but no resolution. SAFETY RISK: Distracting chimes with no identifiable warning create driver confusion. 4. ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL: Remote start now works intermittently. All components available for NHTSA/manufacturer inspection. Dealer confirmed March 17 battery inspection but found no cause. No manufacturer inspection. No warning lamps preceded any failures except unexplained chimes. Problems began immediately after certified pre-owned purchase despite CarBravo certification. Safety defects render vehicle unreliable and hazardous.Read more

September 2020 received new vehicle ( purchased platinum extended warranty at time of sale that expires 9/22/2027)-December 2022 heard loud ticking & misfires & check engine light on took to dealer who found #2 cylinder intake lifter collapsed at that time was under warranty (9924 miles) and dealer replaced not only damaged lifter but all lifters and guides (I have this repair invoice from 12/2022
... ) On March 31 2026 (19,000 miles)ticking came back took silverado to dealer to be checked 4/3/26 they kept truck and had to take top of engine apart where they found that the #2 cylinder lifter has collapsed again the technician went ahead & replaced lifter before getting authorization from warranty company, GM or us to do repair dealer told us that they can put old damaged lifter back in truck & we can take truck back if we want- we are waiting for the inspector that warranty company wants to send to inspect the truck they still have truck 2 1/2 weeks later the warranty company wanted to see all receipts & log for all 7 oil changes which i gave to dealer 4/13/26 was passed to warranty company who accepted all & they want to send an independent inspector to see truck on 4/20/26 we are waiting to hear if he came This is a serious safety issue as this engine 6.2 (L87) Z71 has been prone to lifter failures since 2019, we only found this out now when the same lifter collapsed a second time & that this engine has been known to shut engine down while driving & severely damaging it & even possibly causing an accident If we get no satisfaction from dealer or warranty company as a next step we will be asking for a GM regional representative to come inspect the truck see the repeat lifter failure, open a case with a corporate representative & look into the Lemon Law as this is a recurring issue-- it also affects the value & resale value of our SilveradoRead more

The vehicle is registered to me; my mother was the driver at the time of the failure. At ~2,963 miles, the truck developed intermittent check engine and ABS warning lights. The dealer pulled DTC C058A (brake system control module) and P25A2. Per GM bulletin PIT6012A, the battery was replaced and a brake plunger motor sensor learn was performed. The same codes returned within weeks. The dealer then
... diagnosed internal failure of the brake master cylinder and reservoir, documented the vehicle as "unsafe to drive," and replaced both under warranty. The truck sat at the dealer over six weeks due to a nationwide parts backorder. Repairs were completed April 4, 2025. On May 2, 2025, at ~6,500 miles, the driver was traveling downhill on a city street in the rain at roughly 20 mph. The brake pedal suddenly became hard and resistant. Despite full-force pedal pressure, the vehicle could not be stopped. It entered an intersection, struck another vehicle, then struck a tree. Front and side airbags deployed; the vehicle was totaled. The driver sustained a concussion, broken finger, and severe back and knee injuries, was transported by ambulance, and required months of concussion treatment including vestibular therapy. The hard, resistant pedal is consistent with failure of the electronic brake boost assist (eBoost) system, leaving only unassisted hydraulic braking (roughly 4–5x normal pedal force). This matches other owner reports and the class action in Barron et al. v. GM LLC, which cites defective master cylinders with a missing internal cartridge seal on the same platform. The vehicle is no longer available for inspection. The driver was concussed with significant short-term memory loss at the scene; statements in the police report may not reflect the mechanical failure. Full police report available on request (exceeds 10 MB limit).Read more

... in the left lane on a 65mph highway with my family (including my toddler) in the car. The first time it happened we were able to make it home by driving with the hazard lights on very slowly. But the second time we were doing the 65 mph speed limit in the left lane on a 3 lane highway. To avoid causing a pile up of cars or a deadly accident, we had to use the momentum of the speed we were going to try to safely drift across three lanes of congested traffic just to make it safely to the shoulder. We were then stuck on the side of the highway in the sun on an 80 degree day with a car with no power. I had to remove my two year old from the car so he didn't get heat exhaustion and stand on the side of the highway holding him in the little bit of shade we could find. The car then had to be towed back to my dealership over an hour away because it would not even turn on. The dealership was not able to replicate the issue the first time it happened, but did the software update that the manufacturer recommended. To my knowledge its only been inspected by the dealership. The only warning signs/messages/lights were the ones happening as the engine was failing/shutting down. There was no advanced warning. This care is less than two years old and its a leased vehicle from the dealership down repairs, I work from home there are less than 20k miles on i, this is not neglect on my part or over usage in anyway of the vehicle.Read more

I started losing Regen braking intermittently, when this happens the brakes themselves don't work well and there's no warning, you lift of the pedal expecting the car to stop and its rolling freely, to push brake and its not stopping like you expect, then it thuds and lunges forward a bit and stops. It was rarely happening, now the car can barely be driven. I have not got it into a shop yet. It th

My 2021 Chevrolet Suburban experienced a sudden no start condition which required the vehicle to be towed for repair. A diagnostic inspection determined that both the fuel pump and the fuel pump control module had failed. I paid out of pocket for the full repair, including replacement of both components. Several months later, GM issued a safety recall for the fuel pump control module on this vehic
... le. I submitted a reimbursement request to GM. GM agreed to reimburse only the control module , but refused to reimburse the fuel pump, even though the pump failure was directly caused by the defective module that is now under recall. Federal recall reimbursement guidelines require manufacturers to reimburse the full cost of the remedy for the defect. In this case, the defective module caused the fuel pump to fail, making the pump replacement part of the necessary remedy. GM’s refusal to reimburse the full repair cost leaves me paying for damage caused by the recalled component. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in reviewing GM’s refusal to reimburse the full repair cost associated with this recall related failure.Read more
