I understand this vehicle is over 10 years old. I bought this vehicle pre-owned and have only had it for less than 6 months. This vehicle has 71,000 miles on it and isn't very good condition cosmetically besides the gloss paint. As a widow, I needed a dependable vehicle for work purposes. Since I've had this vehicle I've had to replace the thermostat, I've had continued overheating issues, issues
... with the catalytic converters, the hoses and connectors becoming brittle and needing replacement throughout the engine. Suddenly the traction control light came on the dash after they check engine light. With the code reader showed problems with the mass air flow and the mass air flow electric wiring. Suddenly after a oil change, the vehicle is running terribly and is undrivable. The ECM or computer that powers the entire vehicle has lost all power was no explanation. All the pieces and relays are in good working order. After research on this issue of the ECM I've learned that even replacement of the computer for this vehicle causes the vehicle not even to start. I contacted customer service for GM and Chevrolet and they referred me to you because it is over 10 years old. No one was able to help me. My roommate has the exact same vehicle besides I have a turbo and she does not same year, and she is also having the exact same problems including her ECM is not getting any power. I'm sure of that there's nothing anyone can do financially but Chevrolet and GM really dropped the ball on this vehicle as far as dependability and safety. I counted on this vehicle to be dependable and and live up to the standards of gmn Chevrolet and it has not. Besides this website I don't know who could called Chevrolet and GM accountable for this disaster of a car. I would appreciate any suggestions to try to get this vehicle safe and in working order if it is even possible. I appreciate your time and consideration and I am available if anyone needs to contact me with any questions thank you.Read more

The top tether on the car seat is showing red stitching which according to the user guide is a crash indicator. ... that is messed up and the other that is fine. According to the user guide this car seat should not be used anymore due to the crash indicator, indicating this car seat is not safe or has ever been safe if the top tether has been messed up from the beginning. I attempted several different ways to get in touch with britax to discuss safety and verify if the car seat is still safe or not but have been met with no response. The car seat has not been inspected by anyone since it was not in an accident and the manufacturer has not replied via email, answered phone call, or social media chat.Read more

On [XXX] and [XXX], while driving at approximately 50 MPH, my vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of power, presenting an immediate safety hazard. The incident unfolded as follows: Without warning, the car emitted an alarming sound from the cabin. Simultaneously, a message appeared on the dashboard stating "Check Hybrid System" and instructing me to "Pull Over Safely." This was the f
... irst and only warning; there were no prior indications or symptoms of any problem before this sudden failure. Immediately upon this warning, the vehicle experienced a total loss of power. The component that failed appears to be the hybrid system itself, leading to a complete electrical system shutdown. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. After safely pulling over and turning off the car, all electrical functions ceased. This included essential safety features such as hazard lights, rendering the vehicle completely inoperable and "electrically dead." My safety and the safety of other motorists were severely put at risk due to the sudden and complete loss of propulsion and all electrical systems (including safety lights) while the vehicle was in motion. This left the vehicle vulnerable and invisible to other traffic, particularly concerning if this occurred on a highway or at night, as it creates a high risk for rear-end collisions or other accidents. I have personal video documentation of this incident, which clearly shows the dashboard warnings and the vehicle's subsequent electrical failure. I am prepared to share this video upon request. Following this alarming event, I took my vehicle to the Wolfchase Dealership in Memphis on May 16 2025. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealership. Despite their inspection, the dealership claimed they could not find any issue, stating that "no system of record is recording such code in the vehicle. Complaint to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Subject: Vehicle Sold by CarMax with Open Recall Campaign Z46 in Violation of Stop-Sale Order Dear NHTSA, I am reporting CarMax for selling a vehicle affected by Recall Campaign Z46 (NHTSA ID: 22V406) in violation of the stop-sale requirement. The vehicle has not yet experienced a failure or warning light specific to the coolant system, and it has not been inspected or repaired due to the lack of remedy. However, I should not be forced to wait indefinitely or risk a dangerous situation developing before action is taken. My truck on a few occasions suddenly down shift hard and on its own without warning, it could very much have cause an accident and could have been deadly at highway speeds, at the same time the speedometer would go to 0 and quit working, as well as multiple warning messages would pop up on message display. IE out of fuel, air system failure, orange wrench, Etc. Then after some time everything wou
... ld go back to normal operation until it randomly did it again. This is a major safety issue for drivers and passengers as well as other vehicles around. At the dealer they gave me a print out from 2019 that states it was a safty recall 19S07 but the dealership said it was only a technical bullet not a safty recall and dealers not responsible for the cost but will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with updated calibration -Requires using IDS software release 113.06A or newer (internet connection needed) -No replacement parts needed—this is a software fix But in truth, this dose not fix the problem. Online research show that in most cases the dealership has to remove main control and replace LEAD FRAME. (Located internally in the transmission) like they did on my SUV as well. The cost is over $1,500 and Ford and Lincoln are down playing the danger and by making customers pay out of pocket since it is not an official safety recall from the nhtsa. This out of pocket cost may lead to people not repairing the faulty system. This could have and could be causing accidents or maybe even deaths..This is crazy not to be a full safty recall... Sudden downshift at highway speeds could be extremely dangerous for everyone. Ford/Lincoln should be held responsible for the faulty part and repair for safty purposes.Read more

The vehicle had the following warning lights and messages: Lane Change Alert System Off, Brake system failure 62mph top speed, service traction control, service ESC, and trailer brakes disabled service required. I then got the vehicle towed to the dealership while still on and in the running position with all the codes still active. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious and recurring safety issue with my 2024 Chevrolet Equinox, and to request immediate investigation and resolution. The vehicle has, on multiple occasions, unexpectedly gone into “reduced power” mode (also referred to as “limp mode”), drastically limiting acceleration while driving at full speed in traffic. This most recently
... occurred while my teenage daughter was behind the wheel, causing the car to completely shut off in the middle of the street. The first time this happened, I was traveling at approximately 55 mph on Highway 74 when the vehicle suddenly decelerated to about 35 mph without warning, despite my attempts to accelerate. The check engine light appeared only after the power loss. We narrowly avoided a serious crash. We had to engage hazard lights, swerve through traffic, and coast the vehicle home. The dealership was unable to replicate the issue during follow-up visits, and the issue stopped temporarily—but has now returned. This is more than an inconvenience; it is a critical safety risk to myself, my family, and others on the road. Details: Vehicle: 2024 Chevrolet Equinox Issue: Sudden power loss while driving; engine enters limp mode without warning Occurrences: Multiple (including full vehicle shutdown) over the course of ownership Dealership Response: "No issues found" – despite multiple visits Diagnostic Error: Dashboard reads “Engine Power is Reduced” Concern: Loss of power at high speed, dangerous stalling in trafficRead more

But eventually it did then cut off. Then it cut on when I kept slightly on the gas like I know to do with an older car. So... long story long... I got us home but with limited power and hazard lights. I'm glad we made it home safely and my daughter was shook up but she's safe. I'm terrified to let anyone else in the car let alone drive it. It could've been deadly.Read more

The biggest issue is last year while driving on 74 in busy traffic, the car automatically went into a "low power" mode and limited the power without warning. So now in traffic driving 55 mph, the car drastically slowed to about 35 without warning. It would not go faster no matter what I did. Then the check engine light came on afterwards. Thankfully I made it home safely after turning on my hazard

Been dealing with fogged up headlights from the time I bought my 2022 Genesis gv70 new. I've had at least 4 headlights replaced including recently, June 2025. My warrenty is about up and I was told by the dealership that I would be on my own after this. Problem is obviously not resolved. Lighting is a big safety issue. This should be a recall with a fix in place not a stop gap.

We were driving on vacation in the Nevada desert on a Sunday when the RPMs began to bounce between 2,000 and 4,000 RPMs causing the carto jerk back and forth when we were going up hill. This continued until it got to the point where the engine was going 8,000 RPMs but we were not moving forward. It felt like when driving a stick shift and you are out of gear. We pulled off and were towed to St.
... George, UT. The tow truck said it was the transmission and that we should go to a Kia dealer because it would be covered by warranty. No warning lights came on. Our mileage was 70,000 miles. The dealer said they could not find anything wrong and suggested it was bad gas. After paying $150 we were sent on our way back home through the mountains. We got about 20 minutes on the road when the car starting doing the same thing again as we went up hill. We immediately turned around and made it to the dealer in St. George. They checked the car again and found the transmission fluid was black instead of red. They eventually got approval from Kia for a new transmission. It ended up taking 5 days to finally get our car working. while the transmission installation was covered, we ended having to pay $2,000 in out of pocket expenses. Kia claims to have a Trip Interruption Policy to cover expenses when they have a failure covered by warranty when you are on vacation. At best, it only covers $100 per day for a maximum of 3 days ($300). But you have to have pre-approval before they will even pay that little amount. We made a mistake buying a Kia but it is one we will never make again. It was interesting to see how many similar transmission incidents with the 2020 Forte have happened when they hit 70,000 miles.Read more
