I was driving down the road at speed when the gauge cluster lost power and reset, the truck jerked violently. A couple days before the truck lost all electrical power (lost gauges, door locks, interior lights, door locks and ignition) while idling.

While driving on the freeway in a construction zone, I smelled a burning oil smell. I considered the possibility it was in relation to road repairs being done (roads being repaved, ie tar resurfacing). I was cut off by another vehicle and depressed my brakes and I saw a poof of smoke over the front passenger area near tire. I noticed all of my gauges were in the normal ranges (temperature, batt
... ery voltage, etc.) In less than a minute my truck went into limp mode and advised it had a DEF system issue and it would be limited to a set MPH and a set number of miles. Check engine light came on and another driver alerted me that the underneath of my vehicle was on fire. I pulled over to the side of the highway and my truck became engulfed in flames in. Truck is under factory warranty, unmodified, never been in an accident and has had all recommended services performed at local dealership. There was a significant amount of traffic and luckily I did not collide with anyone or set neighboring dry grass field on fire. Fire department responded and extinguished the fire, but it is a total loss. Insurance company has been notified, and vehicle will be available for inspection by appropriate agencies. While local law enforcement did respond, they did not take a report because I didn't hit anything, and the only property damage was my own. (There is documentation of the event, but just dispatch notes.) Prior to the situation above the truck had been at operating temperature for at least 20 minutes and I had traveled for about 20 miles on the highway. The total distance traveled from when I smelled the burning smell was maybe 1.5 miles.Read more

Subject: Safety Hazard – Turn Signal Button Placement on Tesla Model 3/Y (Newer Models) Hi there, I am reaching because the newer Tesla models have eliminated the turn signal stalks and instead incorporated the turn signal controls as buttons directly on the steering wheel. This became a critical safety hazard multiple times when taking a turn and had to give the turn indication. The issue happ
... ened because the turn signal buttons are not fixed and they rotate along with the rotation of the steering wheel. It makes us look for the turn signal buttons every time the steering wheel is turned and becomes a safety hazard when in motion. Also, it is very challenging when we have to make a right/left turn while on the ramp to take an exit because the buttons are not fixes unlike the turn signal stalks. There were times when we were unable to give the turn signals. It is not only dangerous for the Tesla drivers but also for the other drivers on the road to effectively communicate. Please, I request you to re-assess this configuration. Thank you!Read more

While driving my 2025 Kia Sorento SX Hybrid on a normal hot day, I experienced a sudden and dangerous loss of power. I had briefly exited the freeway to pick up my children and left the vehicle running. After re-entering the freeway, the car failed to accelerate despite pressing the gas pedal to the floor. It felt stuck in first gear, with the engine revving but no response. The hybrid battery sho
... wed nearly empty, and the car would not switch properly between electric and gas modes. A warning appeared instructing me to “park the car and leave the engine on to charge the battery,” which I did. After idling for several minutes, I slowly drove—with hazards on and speed under 25 mph—to the nearest Kia dealer 1.5 miles away. This incident could have been catastrophic if it occurred while merging into traffic. The dealer has been unable to replicate the issue and is offering no fix. This was a sudden hybrid system failure with no warning lights or prior symptoms. It severely affected drivability and put my family at risk. After researching, I found that multiple other owners of 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrids have reported similar power loss incidents since May 2025, especially during warm weather. This is a serious safety issue. A car that unexpectedly loses propulsion—especially while merging or accelerating—can cause a major crash. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect in the hybrid system and issue guidance or a recall before someone is injured or killed.Read more

So I just had my oil changed. And when they shut the hood, the hood stop fell out the bottom. They really just glued the hood stop on? This is allowed? And they didn't even do it properly. And I'd know. I'm a former ASE Certified Master Tech. First, they used the adhesive as a spacer to make the square bracket sit 90 degrees to the ground on a curved panel. Unnecessary since you can't see the bra
... cket with the hood closed. Second, they didn't rough up either surface for adhesion and, they didn't put any adhesive BETWEEN the bracket and the body, (except for where they used the adhesive as a wedge spacer). They just put the panel bond over the bracket. Looks like they used half a tube on each one. The bracket has 2 holes in it for #8 screws. Why didn't they use those? The panel adhesive costs like $80-$100 bucks a tube. 4 bolts with washers and nyloc nuts are about $2. Imagine if that had fallen off while driving and bounced up and punctured the LP line, or fuel line, or tire, or G*d forbid a BRAKE LINE. Or even worse. What about when that chunk of steel come bounding out from under my vehicle and goes right through the car windshield behind me. And you just know it would have happened at the worst possible time like going down hill in a construction zone at night in the rain. Now those things did not happen this time. But have they? I pulled the remaining adhesive off BY HAND with very little effort. How many other parts have they just “glued on”? They make a lot of motorhomes. Is this their normal practice? How many accidents have they caused they don’t even know about? Please investigate this company’s production practices.Read more

On [XXX], our 2018 Chevy Volt experienced a critical BECM (Battery Energy Control Module) failure while being driven by our [XXX] daughter. The failure caused the vehicle to enter limp mode, resulting in a severe loss of power and the inability to shift properly. Most alarmingly, the brakes failed to function correctly—despite being fully engaged, the car continued to move forward at a red ligh

This BECM defect is a well-documented issue for Chevy Volts from 2016 to 2018. However, Chevrolet has refused to cover our VIN under the existing special service bulletin, despite our vehicle using the same faulty part number as those included in the recall, and has provided no explanation for this exclusion. As a result, we are being forced to pay $2,100 out of pocket to replace a part that GM knows is defective. This is an unacceptable financial burden for a safety-critical issue. GM should immediately issue a recall for all vehicles equipped with this faulty part number to ensure the safety of all drivers and prevent further undue costs.
