The four 225/55 R19 tires’, purchased 05/02/25 and available for inspection upon request, asymmetrical tread design has 5 treads & 4 troughs across its width. The center tread and the adjacent one to its outside both have varied design water dispersal slots. When the tires are properly mounted with the word “outside” viewable on the outside of all 4 wheels and the vehicle is rolling forward,
... the 2 above referenced treads’ slots of the right side tires will force water away from the treads and into the adjacent troughs, but these same tread slots on the left side tires, now spun 180 degrees when mounted on the left side, will force water toward the center of the two above referenced treads, actually building up water upon the referenced treads’ surfaces, not dispersing it like on the right side tires. On wet roads, this will dangerously set up the likelihood of hydroplaning on the referenced left side treads, as well as a surface grabbing imbalance between the right and left side tires which sets things up for a spin out. When viewing the mounted tires, the above safety concerns are easy to envision. They appear to pose a risk for an accident, but Pirelli states that their tires are “engineered with advanced tread patterns that balance performance, safety, and comfort” and the tires are properly mounted as described. I have no data indicating that actual issues have been confirmed with my concerns, but I feel they are valid and that this asymmetrical tire should have also been designed and marketed as a directional tire, with left and right mirrored tread designs, which it has not been. I just noticed this tread discrepancy concern.Read more

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2024 Honda HR-V Sport (VIN: [XXX] , mileage: 45,000). The driver’s seat lowers unexpectedly while driving. This happens without warning and creates a serious safety hazard, especially when operating the vehicle on highways. I commute daily in New Jersey (Elizabeth to Union City, approx. 40 minutes on highways), and this defect places me and other driv
... ers at risk. Despite multiple visits to Honda of Route 22 and Honda Service Center (Hillside, NJ), Honda has refused to repair or replace the defective seat under warranty. A technician even admitted this is a known issue with this model. Honda has denied coverage and left me driving a dangerous vehicle. This unresolved defect is a direct safety concern and I request NHTSA / NJDCA intervention to investigate and compel Honda to act. Case reference with Honda: #[XXX] (filed September 12, 2025). ABS system failing
Incident date: Sep 18, 2025
Upon inspection, our mechanic determined that the master cylinder assembly and the actuator assembly require replacement (error code C1391). It is currently available for inspection, but will need to be repaired soon. Our safety and the safety of others is at great risk, because there is impending brake failure if driven and the end result could be catastrophic. On 09/13/25, the BRAKE, TRACTION
... CONTROL, ABS and ((!)) lights came on about 10 minutes from home. We drove home, parked the car and did not drive it again until we took it to our mechanic on 09/15/25. During this incident, the brakes failed to respond properly, which could have led to a serious accident. We took the car to a local mechanic and repairs are currently pending. The estimated cost for the necessary parts is approx. $3,000 and the labor costs are estimated to be between $1,100 and $2,000. Our local Toyota dealership was also contacted and they confirmed the presence of code C1391. Please reference Toyota Service Bulletin POL18-03, which addresses issues related to the braking system in certain Toyota models, including the Prius V. This bulletin indicates that various brake system-related warning lamps may illuminate due to internal malfunctions within the brake system, and it outlines affected parts that may require replacement. Additionally, please reference Toyota Customer Support Program 20TE07, which provides extended coverage for certain brake system repairs. It is concerning that, despite this well-known, very serious problem, Toyota has not issued a recall. While our vehicle currently has 116,975 miles, we are aware that the warranty period ended 10 years from the first date of use or 150,000 miles. However, this malfunction not only endangers our safety, but also that of other drivers on the road. We urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter thoroughly and consider the implications for a potential recall for this model, because Toyota is well-aware of this issue.Read more

My engine has been burning oil. The engine light has been on for just over the past year because an O2 sensor in the catalytic converter needs replacing, however, this is unrelated to the issue. The oil light started flickering earlier this year (approx 8 months ago) but would never stay on. I called my mechanic and they recommended I check the oil. Sure enough it needed oil. Since then I have had
... to continuously add oil in between oil changes, however, the oil light rarely comes on or flickers to indicate this need, I just need to check. The engine has been making a ticking sound and that gets louder or worse I have noticed as the engine burns the oil. I have read up on other 2017 Hyundai Tucsons having the same engine failures and that some are covered under recall but mine does not seem to be. My mechanic has informed me that the engine needs to be rebuilt in order to fix the problem. I am worried about the car dying on me or causing an accident because of the failing engine. Yes, this problem has been confirmed by my mechanic.Read more

Since purchase in 2022, the vehicle has experienced repeated failures of multiple safety systems. These include frequent warnings that “Pre-Collision Assist is Not Available,” repeated failures of Blind Spot Detection with Cross Traffic Alert, Tire Pressure Monitoring warnings, and messages to “Check 12-Volt Battery.” These system malfunctions occur intermittently and unpredictably, creati
... ng unsafe driving conditions. In addition to the warning messages, the rear liftgate has failed to latch properly and on at least one occasion opened while the vehicle was in motion. This poses a serious hazard to vehicle occupants and to other drivers on the road. The safety risk is significant because these systems are designed to prevent or mitigate crashes. Their failure leaves the driver without critical safety features, and the trunk latch defect could cause loss of cargo or injury. These problems have been ongoing for years and have not been permanently corrected despite software updates and recall activity. The dealer has acknowledged the symptoms and advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive.Read more

I was able to get the truck off of the highway, onto the nearest exit ramp without being hit. I have never been that close to being killed on the interstate. [XXX] came and put the spare on and while I was waiting along the highway I called Tire Kingdom and was advised by [XXX] at the Orange City store to take the truck to the nearest Mavis or Tire Kingdom. The nearest one was Mavis in Brunswick, Ga, about 30 minutes north of the incident. The Brunswick store was closing and I was advised to bring my truck in at 8:00 am. I stayed at a hotel nearby and had the truck there at 7:45 am. I was told that they did not have four replacement tires in stock and could probably have them by Tuesday as it was Labor Day Weekend. They stated that they could replace only the blown tire and “take a look” at the other three tires. There was absolutely no concern for my safety or welfare, and no appreciation of the amount of risk I would be undertaking to continue to drive on the other tires. I went to Firestone and replaced all of the tires and returned home safely. I contacted Tire Kingdom three more times and was advised to return the tires to the Asheville, NC Mavis Tire store for evaluation. The manager, [XXX] and a mechanic inspected all of the tires and immediately stated that all of them were defective. The belt had separated, the sidewall was weak, and the rim/beading was bent. While traveling at night on the toll road between Washington, DC and Pittsburgh, PA, the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning. Power was lost completely, including power steering, while in motion on a major freeway, creating an immediate and severe risk of collision for us and surrounding motorists. Although the vehicle did restart, it stalled again shortly afterward while still on the toll r
... oad. The failure repeated when decelerating on the highway or coming to a stop after exiting. At no point were there warning lamps, check-engine lights, messages, or reduced-power mode indicators prior to the stalls; the shutdowns occurred without any advance notice. The vehicle was towed to an independent BMW-only repair shop in Pittsburgh. Their initial assessment indicated a high likelihood that the failure involved the VANOS assembly bolts, though the engine was not disassembled at that time, so the diagnosis could not be confirmed with certainty. Because the shop did not have immediate availability, we were asked to transport the car home until they could perform a full repair. After sitting for several weeks, the car was towed back for further inspection, at which point the shop discovered that a VANOS bolt had likely sheared off and caused irreparable damage to the engine. Our only options now are to replace the engine or scrap the vehicle. The vehicle remains in Pittsburgh, PA in our possession and is available for inspection upon request. At this time, the failure has not been reproduced or confirmed by a BMW dealer, nor has it been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Importantly, there is an existing recall on VANOS bolts for the 328xi station wagon, but our vehicle’s production date ([XXX]) falls just outside the recall window of October 1, 2009–August 4, 2011. Notably, for the sedan body model, the recall window was extended until December 6, 2011. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
