When I manually resumed fueling, gasoline immediately overflowed from the filler neck. There was no gasoline smell prior to this event. After driving away from the station, the remaining range increased, then decreased again, fluctuating by about ±10 miles. The fuel gauge and range readings continue to be inconsistent and unreliable. These symptoms began recently and are getting worse. The vehicle is currently being operated in Hybrid mode only due to an existing recall advising not to charge the battery. Almost all turns feel as though they are pushing the vehicle to the limit and I fear the parts/joints will fail while the vehicle is in operation. U-Turns are nearly out of the question. If a vehicle cannot safely and effectively make a greater degree of turn, then the turning radius should not allow a driver to put the vehicle into that position. However, for this vehicle, it seems almost any turning at all would then be completely impossible. The issue involved the electronic power steering (EPS) system on my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N (approx. 70,000 miles). While driving, the EPS stopped providing steering assist and a fault warning appeared on the dash. After checking the engine bay fuse box, I found that the PDM 7.5A micro blade fuse (which powers the EPS circuit) appeared heat-discolored/burned. I replaced it with an identical 7.5A

The original fuse that appeared damaged is still in my possession and is available for inspection upon request When the fuse failed, I suddenly lost power steering assist and the steering became extremely heavy, especially at low speeds. This made it difficult to turn the wheel for parking, lane changes, and tighter turns. This could have put my safety and others at risk because: •It required much more physical effort to steer, especially in a parking lot and at slower speeds. •In an emergency situation, it would have been harder to quickly avoid obstacles or other vehicles. •A less physically strong driver, or someone caught off guard, might not be able to maintain proper control, increasing the risk of a collision. No. The problem has not been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. These sudden, un-commanded braking events were severe enough to cause significant deceleration, requiring me to immediately intervene by pressing the accelerator pedal to override the system. Due to the frequency and unpredictability of these phantom braking events, I no longer feel safe using Traffic-Aware Cruise Control or any Tesla advanced driver-assistance features that rely on the same sensor suite and software. On 11/26/2025, I was driving on the NJ Parkway, Southbound, in the left lane. The Drivetrain Malfunctioned Warning Light came on and within second my car began loosing power. I attempted to restart my car, it sputtered a few time with black smoke coming out of the exhaust. I called 911 and State Police Responded to protect my vehicle from being struck. About an hour later, a tow truck responded and my vehicle was towed to the BMW Dealership, 500 Route 37, Eaton Town, NJ. I believe this catastrophic failure is connected to my vehicles EGR’s system. I had my vehicle serviced at Sterling BMW, Sterling, VA, in early 2025. During that visit I was told that my vehicle’s Auxiliary EGR cooler needed to be replaced. In October 2025, I took my vehicle to BMW of Westbrook, Maine, after I received a notice from BMW that they had extended the warranty on my Auxiliary EGR Cooler and it could be replaced if needed. I provided the Dealership with the information that Sterling BMW provided me about the need to have my Auxiliary EGR cooler replaced. Westbrook BMW examined my car and said there was nothing wrong the my Auxiliary EGR cooler. My vehicle will be looked at tomorrow by Eaton Town BMW. I suspect, I will be told the failure will be related to the EGR system.Read more
