I have a rear window leak that is that is from a manufacturing defect, as described in this TSB: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10247466-9999.pdf I originally took the vehicle into the dealer in advance of my factory extended warranty expiring and they said they would call me back to schedule a fix/replacement. They never did. Now, my extended warranty has expired and when I went back
... in to schedule, they are saying that the repair will not be covered, despite the TSB and warranty extension being in place because the "XL1" code does not show up in their system. The dealer instructed me to call Stellantis Customer Care, where I was connected with an overseas call center that said they were unable to do anything and that I should return the vehicle to the dealer, who already told me they will not cover the repair. It has been several months of back and forth and I would like to get this corrected before I go through ANOTHER winter season with a leak.Read more

1. Failure to Address a Safety Recall Promptly When scheduling the appointment, I informed the dealership of an open safety recall (Recall V06, NHTSA 19V-021) involving the steering linkage jam nut (a defect which can cause loss of steering control). This recall is critical for safety, yet I was told on the phone that the dealership “could not work on it yet” due to unspecified changes being m
... ade by the manufacturer. Upon arrival, I asked again about this recall. The service advisor stated it would require a separate appointment with a “special mechanic” and thus declined to even inspect the vehicle that day. This is extremely disheartening – a known safety defect (announced in January 2019) remains unaddressed on my truck almost seven years later, and the dealership made no effort to expedite or even evaluate the need for repair. As a loyal Dodge customer, I am very concerned that an authorized dealer would postpone a safety recall inspection, leaving me driving a potentially unsafe vehicle. Safety recalls should be handled with urgency, and I urge Dodge to ensure that this recall (V06) is rectified on my truck immediately. It is unacceptable that I must continue driving with a defect that “can result in a loss of steering control… causing a crash without warning,” according to the recall description I found on your site.Read more

My 2013 Chevrolet Equinox (~132,000 miles) has a serious and unsafe oil consumption problem. I had a full oil change, and only two weeks later the dipstick was completely dry. The vehicle provided no warning lights, no low-oil indication, and the GM Oil Life Monitoring System gave an inaccurate reading, failing to alert me to the critically low oil level. On November 25, 2025, while stopped with
... my foot firmly on the brake, the vehicle began constantly jumping and jerking forward as if it was trying to move on its own. During driving, I also began hearing a loud crunching, metal-on-metal noise whenever I accelerated or drove under 50 mph. Because these symptoms started suddenly and were severe, I took the vehicle to my mechanic the same day. On November 26, 2025, the mechanic confirmed that the engine had suffered major internal damage due to running with almost no oil. The timing chain and VVT components needed to be replaced. The mechanic confirmed that oil starvation caused this failure despite a recent oil change, and the inaccurate oil life monitoring system contributed to the hazard by failing to alert me to the critically low oil. This defect presents a significant safety hazard, as the vehicle can jerk unexpectedly, stall, lose power, or suffer sudden engine failure while driving, all without warning. I have since learned that excessive oil consumption and inaccurate oil life readings are widespread in GM 2.4L Ecotec engines. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this safety-related defect.Read more

While driving, my vehicle developed engine knocking, lost power, overheated, and produced smoke from the engine compartment. Shortly after, the engine seized and the vehicle will not start. An authorized dealership diagnosed the failure and recommended a complete engine (long-block) replacement, indicating catastrophic internal engine damage. This failure appears consistent with known Theta II e

The recall was preventive monitoring software (KSDS) and did not repair or prevent the underlying mechanical defect that caused the failure. THIS IS A RECALL REMEDY FAILURE REPORT UNDER 49 U.S.C. §30120. My 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (VIN: [XXX] ) received Recall 24V797000 on June 9, 2025. The ECM update is intended to detect incipient clutch-pressure or gear-ratio deviations—early signs of a developing slip—and automatically force limp mode to prevent rear-wheel lockup. On August 23, 2025, after the recall was performed, the
... truck experienced rear-wheel lockup at highway speed. Limp mode did not activate, which shows the recall remedy failed to operate as required. Mangino Chevrolet documented symptoms matching the recall defect, including abnormal ratio behavior. No metal debris was found in the pan, indicating the failure was not caused by wear. GM TAC also noted behavior consistent with a developing slip. GM first recommended full transmission replacement at my expense before acknowledging the recall. GM later authorized a valve-body replacement, which also failed. The dealership owner provided a written statement confirming that: (1) the recall remedy did not correct the defect, and (2) the valve-body repair did not correct it. On December 3, 2025, GM Customer Assistance attempted to close my case as “not recall-related,” despite the post-remedy lockup, limp-mode failure, dealer findings, and the written admission that the recall remedy was ineffective. The safety defect persists after recall completion, and GM has not provided a remedy that corrects it, as required under federal law. I am reporting this as a failed recall remedy and an ongoing safety defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

The rear glass panel of the panoramic sunroof on my 2024 Ford F-150 (approximately 8,800 miles) suddenly and spontaneously shattered while I was driving. There was a single upward-pointing fracture near the front-center of the panel, and the rest of the glass fragmented outward from that point. There was no impact, no debris, no nearby vehicles, and no physical evidence of anything striking the ro
... of or surrounding areas. No objects were found inside the vehicle. The sunroof is available for inspection upon request. This failure created an immediate safety risk. The shattered panel was directly above my two children seated in the rear, and falling glass fragments posed a significant danger of injury. A sudden overhead glass failure also presents a hazard to other drivers if fragments are expelled from the vehicle. There were no signs or symptoms before the breakage. The Ford dealership inspected the vehicle but did not identify any impact damage and did not confirm a cause. The failure has not been reproduced, but I found multiple similar reports from other Ford owners, suggesting this may be consistent with spontaneous internal stress failure of the tempered glass. Given the complete lack of impact evidence and the serious safety risk to occupants and other motorists, I am reporting this as a panoramic sunroof safety defect.Read more

My car back in June 2025 left me stranded in the turn lane with traffic backing up after the emergency parking brake turned on without warning. ... ve faster than 5 to 10 mph. I was able to get to a parking lot about 100 ft away. I called a tow truck, spoke with my mechanic at the local dealership. He suggested what I had already done including removing the battery cables. We did all this to no avail. He got the car then took 3 days to get it to release after opening and closing the door 10 times before starting the car again. He said I need a modulator valve. We have been waiting for over 6 months and my car is still waiting for this part. I can not drive the only car I own when I have a safety issue. Should this had happened while driving with my grandson in the car it is unsafe and it isn't what an autistic child needs to face. This incident has happened 4 times since it happened in June. Every time it takes place, I have to turn off the car open and close the door 10 times before the carvwill release and reset the computer system to make the car drivable again. I did check with the dealership yesterday and still other jeeps of this year has the same issues but my car is not in that listing. What does a person have do when it is clearly a manufacturer defect?Read more
