While slowing to a stop, the vehicle suddenly experienced multiple (3–4) violent jerks. The vehicle fought against my firm brake pedal application, overpowered the brakes, and accelerated uncontrollably, resulting in a crash. During the impact: • The driver frontal airbag and pretensioners deployed. • The driver seatbelt unlatched mid-impact and then locked/retracted in a way that prevente
... d it from latching again, even while I was sitting in the driver’s seat post-crash. I have only been provided with the limited Airbag Control Module (SDM) data, which shows the brake switch as “Off” and low accelerator pedal readings. This data does not match the events I experienced. I have formally requested full downloads from all other modules (Powertrain/PCM, ABS/EBCM, BCM, etc.) from both the insurance company (ESIS) and GM, but they have only provided the single SDM report. This appears to be a sudden unintended acceleration event combined with a brake override failure and seatbelt restraint system malfunction.Read more

My vehicle would not shift into reverse. Took it into the Chevrolet service and they said the Valve body needs replaced. There are known issues with the Valve body in 2021 Tahoe but they said it is not covered under any of the GM extended warranties. It should be covered under Special Coverage N242454441 or N242454440, but they said no coverage. The vehicle only has 46,200 miles on it

Issue 1: Cooling Fan Remained On After Engine Shutdown Component or system involved: Engine cooling system and fan control system, including the radiator cooling fan, fan relay, coolant temperature sensor, wiring, or engine control module (ECM). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. What happened: After turning off the engine, the radiator cooling fan remained running continuously
... for approximately five minutes and would not shut off as expected. No warning light, message, or other dashboard indication appeared before or during the event. This was unusual behavior compared with normal operation. Safety risk: The unexpected fan operation created concern that the cooling system was malfunctioning and that the vehicle could overheat, experience an electrical problem, or become unreliable while driving. A cooling system or electrical failure while in traffic could put me and other drivers at risk. Reproduction or confirmation: The issue occurred several time and was confirmed by a Chevrolet dealer, and was told that my warranty did not cover the issue. I took it to outside mechanic to fix the issue as Chevrolet wanted to charge over $1500 for the issue. No warning lamps, messages, overheating indicators, or other symptoms appeared before the fan remained on. The problem occurred suddenly back in 2025. Issue 2: Ignition Key Gets Stuck and Cannot Be Removed Ignition lock cylinder, ignition switch, transmission shift-interlock system, park-position switch, or steering column lock mechanism. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The ignition key intermittently becomes stuck and cannot be removed from the ignition. The problem occurs after parking and turning the vehicle off, and I sometimes need to move the shifter or steering wheel repeatedly before the key can be removed. A stuck ignition key can prevent me from properly shutting down and securing the vehicle. It may also indicate a failure in the ignition or shift-interlock system.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2020 Chevrolet Blazer and what appears to be a widespread cooling system defect. My vehicle has developed a coolant smell outside the vehicle, which raises concerns about a coolant leak from the radiator. After researching the issue, I discovered that numerous Chevrolet Blazer owners have reported similar coolant-related problems, including radiator fai
... lures, coolant leaks, and persistent coolant odors. These complaints are widely discussed across online forums, social media, and owner groups. General Motors appears to be aware of this recurring issue, yet many owners continue to experience failures within and outside of warranty coverage. The coolant smell is concerning because it may indicate a leak within the cooling system, which could lead to overheating, engine damage, loss of vehicle reliability, and potential safety risks while driving. Owners should not be experiencing major cooling system failures on relatively modern vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate the cooling system and radiator issues affecting the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer and determine whether a defect exists that warrants a recall or other corrective action. The number of similar complaints suggests this may be a systemic issue rather than isolated incidents. General Motors should be held accountable for addressing this widespread problem and providing a permanent repair solution for affected owners. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

L87 engine failure
Incident date: Jun 7, 2026
While driving my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, the check engine light illuminated. Shortly thereafter, the engine began shaking severely and I heard clicking and popping noises from the engine compartment. The following morning, the vehicle was barely operable, shaking excessively and unable to properly reverse. Due to the unsafe condition, I had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The dealership diagno
... sed a failure involving all 8 lifters on one side (bank) of the engine, requiring extensive engine repairs. My vehicle has approximately 74,000 miles, which I believe is low mileage for such a significant internal engine failure. The symptoms included severe engine vibration, misfiring, loss of performance, and the potential for loss of power while driving. This is not the first major failure I have experienced with this vehicle. In approximately April 2023, when the vehicle had about 32,000 miles, it unexpectedly shut off while I was reversing in a roadway. The dealership diagnosed a failed fuel pump control module (fuel pump modulator). Similar failures were later identified in recalls and corrective actions affecting other GM vehicles. I am concerned that my vehicle has experienced multiple failures involving components that appear to be associated with known issues affecting GM vehicles, yet my Tahoe was not included in applicable recalls. These failures created significant safety concerns, including unexpected engine shutdown, loss of vehicle operation, and potential loss of power while driving. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles should have been included in existing and future safety recalls related to these defects and other known defects that GM vehicles are experiencing with the motor, transmission and other parts. Note: No invoice is available yet as I am seeking GM assistance due to no warranty status. Estimated repair cost from dealership is up to $8,900.Read more

I am writing to formally report a critical safety defect in the vehicle’s transmission system. While driving, the vehicle began experiencing severe vibrations, accompanied by an abnormal increase in engine RPMs, while the vehicle failed to accelerate appropriately. The vehicle became unresponsive, limiting my speed to 15-20 mph. This forced me to make frequent stops every 6-7 minutes to allow th
... e transmission to cool down, as the car would not sustain normal speeds. This failure created an extremely dangerous situation on the highway. Due to the sudden loss of power and inability to maintain traffic flow, I was subjected to aggressive behavior from other drivers, who were honking, gesturing, and clearly endangered by my inability to accelerate. This transmission failure is a major safety hazard that renders the vehicle unreliable and dangerous to operate in any traffic condition. I am requesting an immediate investigation into this transmission defect and a permanent resolution from General Motors, as this issue poses a significant risk of causing a collision. I spoke with the owner of AAMCO, and he showed me that they have 7 of these Chevy Suburbans, GMC Yukons, and Chevy Tahoes, Escalades, and they all have the same problem, the transmission needs to be replaced, and General Motors is not notifying car owners about this problem, but it should.Read more

My safety is very much put at risk when i report something to them thats happening with the vehicle, and if my motor blows while im driving 80 MPH i could crash into others or even die myself. My transmission is also having problems of what i would call Bucking when you put it into drive, i also filled up with gas last week shut my truck off pumped gas, got back into my truck and started it, went to put it into drive had no power shut it off and did it again, i had power but my rear wheels were locked up and wouldnt budge. shut it off turned my truck on and engaged the 4 wheel drive, and then disengaged it, still not able to drive. shut it off and put it back into drive and the rear wheels were able to drive normally. Dealership says theres a recall on the transmission to add a spacer plate so it was ordered. This issue needs to be taken very seriously this is why they say theres only 3% motors affected is because they decline the motors that have actual problems but its still running so to them its fine.Read more

Took my 22 silverado with the L87 engine in for the recall. The dealer stated that my vehicle had a tick in the motor but it passed the pico test. They switched it to the 0W40 oil and stated that my engine will probably blow here soon, but until that happens there hands are tied. I purchased a brand-new 2025 Chevrolet Traverse and have been dealing with a loud brake squeal that makes the vehicle sound like it has worn-out brakes. I’ve taken it to two different Chevrolet dealerships, and instead of fixing the issue, I’ve repeatedly been told that this is a common problem with the 2025 Traverse and that many owners are experiencing the same thing. I’ve been given mult
... iple explanations, including weather conditions and the vehicle needing to warm up, but no actual solution. I was even told there is currently no fix available through GM and that replacing the brake pads will not resolve the problem. What is most frustrating is that everyone seems to acknowledge the issue while also telling customers to simply live with it. This is a brand-new vehicle, and customers should not be expected to accept a known brake defect as normal. Very disappointed with both the dealership experience and GM’s response to what appears to be a widespread issue.Read more

Exhaust bracket broke, created a hole in pipe, which then resulted in cracked catalytic converter. Dealership and GM denied repairs due to the hole being on the "wrong pipe" but the same bracket that is covered broke resulting in the consequential damage. Check engine light came on, loud exhaust noise. Threw codes P219A, P2097, P0171. Bulletin even outlines that broken bracket/hole can cause crack
... s in converter, still denied. This is a known issue with the welding on this pipe/bracket, why they didn't extend the coverage to BOTH pipes is beyond me.Read more

Complete engine failure on the highway, compete engine and power lockup, towed back to dealership where complete engine lockup was confirmed. No prior issues, no other damage contributing to failure. Claims not to be covered under current recall, advising the recall be extended to all 6.2 19-04 Chevy models as I experienced the same engine failure as recall states.
