Power steering went out
Incident date: May 16, 2022
I was on a self driving mode enabled but it’s been raining for a while and I believe it showed the poor weather condition so FSD is not enabled but autopilot was engaged (but not 100% sure about which mode it was) It was around 2am in the morning and was on 580 southbound from Dublin to SFO. I was on the second to the left lane. It suddenly tried to go diagonally to the first lane. (Not like no
... rmal lane change but very abrupt almost like making turn 90 degree left) so I tried to cancel by holding on the steering wheel. And then it went out of control and start rotating until it stopped by hitting the center guard rail on the passenger rear side. The car stopped facing backward on the road (on the center shoulder). Luckily it was late night (around 2am) and there were no car behind luckily. I could have dead if another car hit into my car. Tesla insurance of course didn't admin any of this and told me it was my fault.Read more

In July of 2021 the Toyota dealership replaced the inverter on my 2012 Prius V. At the time, it also was exhibiting signs of the brake booster and pump failure as outlined in CSP 20TE07 (see https://www.toyoheadquarters.com/threads/2012-2014-toyota-prius-v-2015-toyota-prius-v-coverage-for-brake-booster-and-brake-booster-pump-assemblies-csp-20te07.2116/). It was inside the extended warranty period
... , but they would not fix it at the time, because it was not throwing diagnostic codes. Subsequently, the braking system malfunctioned, nearly causing a high-speed accident on the freeway. With diagnostic lights now showing, and code C1391 stored in the OBD system, I took the car back to the dealer, but now they said it was past the 10 year limit and still would do nothing about it. This is not acceptable! They knew the brake system was failing and a safety hazard, but would not address it, just because it hadn't actually failed yet. Toyota needs to further extend the warranty and take care of this brake failure past 10 years and 150,000 miles. Just because I took good care of my car and the brakes didn't fail as early as other owners, I should not have been subjected to the risk of brake failure or the high cost of repairing the brake system when Toyota took care of this problem for so many other hybrid owners. Please help.Read more

This vehicle is programmed to shut off, if the driver leaves the vehicle with the key fob, after 15 minutes. This is very dangerous. I left my pet in the car, in the Florida sun, with the air conditioner running, while I stepped into a store briefly. When I got back to the car, I was surprised to discover my car had shut off. My pet was in a black SUV, in the Florida sun, without air. I resea
... rched the owner's manual. The owner's manual indicates the vehicle is designed to turn off, in this situation. I called Chevrolet customer service, and asked if this could be disabled, they said no it cannot be disabled. This is very dangerous for someone, if they leave a pet, an infirm person or a delicate item or product, which needs temperature control. The problem? Chevrolet will not permit an owner to change this feature. It is only a matter of time, before someone or something gets hurt, because the vehicle automatically shuts off, without the owner's knowledge. They do allow other safety features to be selectively disabled, why not this one?Read more

Windshield spontaneously cracked at top. I came outside in the morning after a temperature fluctuation and there was a crack at the top with one piece of the glass sitting lower… it has since grown. I have been forced to drive with the crack as Subaru will do anything to not honor a warranty, ever. The eyesight I am learning is necessary for the vehicle to avoid front end collisions and to pro
... perly deploy the airbag. The crack started in November, it’s almost August, and I cannot get it replaced under the warranty I paid. I see many people have the same problem. You can even see where the windshield cracked where an iPass was mounted from a temperature change. The wipers also cannot keep up with moderate rain, causing rain blindness in moderate precipitation and the lightest rain will turn off the eyesight causing a malfunction that will not assist in avoiding a collision. In addition, I will be complaining with the CFTC for the warranty issues. I cannot even get records of my warranty or service. Example: window regulator was a problem off the log, and salesman used it as an example, service won’t repair. I regret buying a Subaru, they claim to be safe and reliable with great service, I am only having problems that affect the safe operation of the vehicle and I paid all this extra for full bumper to bumper and they tell me that it doesn’t exist. In addition, that vehicle claims to get close to 30mpg, I am being completely honest when I say I had about the same mileage in a 1995 Cadillac Deville, and the mileage I got in a 2009 BMW twin-turbo far exceeded the mpg. I tried to get it repaired today under warranty. I was yelled at that it was an impact, and I wish I knew… would have said, “is it more likely that I’m lying or the company that’s been successfully sued 4 times for this exact problem is at fault?” Perhaps there was a light impact in the months AFTER it broke parked in a unheated garage.Read more

While on my way to an appointment it was raining and I noticed my car wasn't handling the water on the road like it usually did. It was pulling to one side or jumping around when it hit shallow water. I turned the traction control off and then back on and that seemed to make a difference. That night I got on NHTSA and searched for recalls with my VIN number. While other 2018 Durango's had recalls
... on the ESP it said mine wasn't one on them. About a week later it had been storming all night and I was on my way to work the next morning when I come around a curve to deep flowing water covering the road for approx. 30 yards before a small break and then a thin flowing of water for approx. 20 feet which I didn't see because it was still raining. When I hit the deep water it pulled me towards the right ditch, I was able to keep from going in the ditch but it was a constant fight until I was through the puddle. After the first puddle let go of my vehicle there was just enough time for me to feel relieved I had made it through it before I hit the shallow water and my car hydroplaned darting left, entering the ditch, ramping the side of a driveway and going airborne between two trees before coming down on it's front end and sliding 30 feet to a stop. The emergency contact system spoke asking who to contact but none of my ICE was displayed. Thankfully I was wearing my seatbelt although the tensioner didn't lock the belt in place like it should in the event of an accident. Also neither front airbag deployed, only the passenger side air curtain deployed. My passenger side mirror was hit by a mailbox as I ramped the driveway so I assumed that is why the side curtain deployed but the accident crushed and partially removed both my front and back bumper so my 2 front air bags should have deployed as well. An accident report was made and my insurance company ruled my car as a totaled. I told them what happened but I am not sure if the inspected the ESP system or not.Read more

After contacting about 10 large transmission shops in the region I found out that none of them can do the work. Ford has made the unit so that the information in the unit can only be copied and written with Ford software. It is impossible for a repair shop to install a used unit. The only way to repair the car is with a new transmission from Ford that I was quoted $14,000 for. This is a scam against the consumer. A decent running car is reduced to scrap value over a single component that only the dealer can repair at an exorbitant price. This is inherently unsafe and a total consumer scam.Read more

There is a design defect in the Tesla Model 3 which causes moisture to accumulate in the air filters. The filters then sit wet and develop mold and mildew. The problem is Tesla continues to charge people to replace the filter with no solution for fixing the problem.Read more
