ON 9/4/15 @ APPROX 5:45 P.M, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START - IT ACTED LIKE THERE WAS NO FUEL GETTING TO THE INJECTORS. THREE HOURS LATER I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT STARTED JUST FINE; TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK W/O ANY ISSUES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE BUICK GMC DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ROOT CAUSE TO BE A BAD FUSE BOX ASSEMBLY ($318 PART). THE FUEL PUMP RELAY GOT HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE HARD PLASTIC OF THE FUSE BOX ASSEMBLY, AND THERE ARE BURN MARKS ON THE BODY OF THE FUEL PUMP RELAY - I HAVE THE OLD PARTS AND PICTURES OF SAME. THE SERVICE REP AT THE BUICK GMC DEALER SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM ON BUICK LACROSSE. HERE IS MY ISSUE: WHEN A MANUFACTURER, IN THIS CASE CADILLAC, ISSUES A RECALL THAT IS AN INCONVENIENCE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS, WHY DOESN'T THE GOVERNMENT REQUIRE THEM TO GIVE A LOANER CAR AND/OR ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION TO THE VEHICLE OWNER TO COVER

I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP, THE CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE REPRESENTATIVE, AHMED, AND THE CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISOR, MICHELLE FOR A LOANER CAR AND THE REQUEST WAS DENIED. I THINK THAT AS PART OF THE COST OF RECALLS THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD LIMIT THE CUSTOMER'S INCONVENIENCE TO AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. PLEASE CONSIDER REQUIRING MANUFACTURERS TO PROVIDE A LOANER CAR WHEN A RECALL IS ISSUED IN THE FUTURE. THIS IS NOT A "FREE" REPAIR IF I HAVE TO TAKE TIME OFF OF WORK AND PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR. THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CADILLAC DEALER WHO SAID THE CONNECTOR UNDER THE SEAT WAS NOT MAKING CONTACT AND THAT THE PINS IN THE CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ($600). IT IS OBVIOUS FROM OUR RESEARCH THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AS IT IS THE EXACT SAME SITUATION AS THOSE AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. WE HAVE CONTACTED GMC ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE RECALLS ARE VERY SPECIFIC. WE HAVE TRIED TO EXPLAIN THIS SITUATION BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT WE WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE SELLING DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, THIS IS A GMC SITUATION, NOT A DEALERSHIP PROBLEM.
