On February 14th while operating the vehicle I experienced a braking failure where the brake pedal went to the floor and braking distance was increased. I had the vehicle towed to Ford of Columbus in Columbus, IN on the morning of Feb. 16th where it was confirmed that the rear brake hose had blown due to the associated recall. The failure is exactly due to the recall as acknowledged by both Ford M
... otor Company and the dealership. Ford Corporate acknowledged (case number XXX) that the repair should not be my financial responsibility yet they continue to demand that I pay out of pocket now for an interim repair because the "official" fix is not ready. By refusing to authorize a no cost repair for a vehicle that has already failed due to their recall, Ford is denying a safety remedy and forcing me to bear the financial burden of a known defect. I do not believe it is my responsibility to pay now and then have to jump through hoops to seek a refund at a "later date" determined by Ford. This is a deceptive and bad faith practice by Ford. I have called Ford Motor Company twice and have utilized the chat once. I have not heard back from the dealership in nearly 24 hours since asking for an update on the status of the repair that I have since approved. Component/System Failed: Engine – connecting rod bearing failure consistent with Hyundai Theta II engine defect subject to federal recalls and Consent Orders. The vehicle previously received Recall Campaign 953 (KSDS software update), intended to detect premature rod bearing wear. The engine is currently knocking and has been diagnosed as requiring replacement. The vehicle and engine are availab
... le for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: Rod bearing failure can cause sudden engine seizure or stall while driving, creating a significant crash risk due to loss of power steering and braking assist. Engine failure DID occurr despite prior recall software update, indicating potential recall remedy ineffectiveness. Sudden stalling in traffic placed myself and others at risk of collision. Dealer Confirmation: Hyundai of North Charleston confirmed through warranty history a prior engine replacement request (PA) was submitted by a previous owner but denied. The recall repair was never performed. Current diagnostic findings indicate engine failure consistent with known recall defect. However, Hyundai has refused to perform further inspection or goodwill repair solely due to the vehicle’s salvage branding. Inspection History: The vehicle has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership. No engine replacement was completed. Hyundai Customer Care has updated case notes but is declining remedy based on title status rather than mechanical condition. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: The vehicle previously received KSDS software update. Engine knocking developed consistent with rod bearing wear. The software did not provide effective prevention of engine failure. The engine now requires replacement. Hyundai is refusing recall-related remedy due to salvage title (predates my wonder ship by many years), despite federal recall obligations applying to the vehicle VIN. This complaint concerns potential failure of recall remedy effectiveness and denial of defect-related inspection.Read more

I am reporting a catastrophic engine failure involving a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged 5.0L (VIN: [XXX] ) with approximately 88,000 miles. The vehicle experienced sudden engine failure due to a timing chain malfunction. Timing chain failure in this engine platform can result in immediate engine stall and total loss of propulsion without warning. A sudden engine stall while driving pres
... ents a serious safety risk, including loss of power steering assist, reduced braking performance, and increased risk of collision. The 5.0L AJ133 engine used in 2013–2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles has a documented pattern of premature timing chain and timing chain tensioner failures. Numerous owner reports indicate similar failures occurring before expected service life. In my case, the timing chain failure caused catastrophic internal engine damage requiring full engine replacement. The failure occurred despite proper maintenance and without prior warning indicators sufficient to prevent breakdown. This issue represents a potential safety defect because sudden engine failure can occur while the vehicle is in motion, creating hazardous driving conditions. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue for potential investigation into premature timing chain failure in 2013–2017 Land Rover Range Rover 5.0L Supercharged vehicles. My vehicle failed while in motion. I lost power to the vehicle and power steering. Just before the car failed, I heard a pop and a warning light came on that said "Check Electric Vehicle System". My safety and everyone on the road around me's safety was put at risk when I lost the ability to accelerate or use power steering.
... The car was towed to a dealer and the dealer confirmed the issue. The ICCU failure and failure of the vehicle while in motion is directly related to a previous safety recall (025G) for which repair work was done on my vehicle. I am filing this complaint regarding my 2023 Jeep Wagoneer, which I have owned for approximately 1.5 years. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced repeated and ongoing mechanical failures, primarily involving the fuel injection system and chronic battery drainage. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership for fuel‑related issues more than five times. During these visits, the fuel pu
... mp was replaced, but the problems continued. The vehicle repeatedly triggered check‑engine lights related to the fuel system. At one point, the dealership bypassed or cleared the check‑engine indicator without resolving the underlying problem. After this, the vehicle began performing noticeably differently, including a significant drop in fuel efficiency—going from approximately 18 MPG to around 14 MPG. In addition to the fuel system defects, the vehicle has had persistent battery issues. The battery drains unexpectedly and frequently dies without warning. Even after replacing the battery, the new battery lasted only about three months before the same drainage problems began again. The vehicle will randomly shut down or stop functioning correctly until another battery replacement is performed. These issues raise serious concerns about the safety, reliability, and overall drivability of the vehicle. The repeated failures of both the fuel system and electrical/battery system pose potential safety hazards while driving and have made the vehicle unreliable for normal use. I am requesting that NHTSA review these recurring problems, as they appear to indicate systemic defects affecting vehicle performance and safety.Read more

Vehicle Safety Incident & Recall Case Summary In approximately October 2025, while my son was driving the vehicle on Highway 85 at approximately 70 mph, the car suddenly shut off and lost power without warning. He was able to safely pull over to the side of the road and had to restart the vehicle in order to continue driving. At the time of this incident, the vehicle had only a few thousand miles
... . As a parent, I am deeply concerned about my son’s safety, particularly given that this power loss occurred at highway speeds without warning. Shortly after this incident, I personally experienced a separate failure while driving the vehicle, during which the car would not accelerate as expected. This created an additional and serious safety concern during normal driving conditions. We brought the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership for evaluation. The dealership informed us that this issue was associated with a known recall and advised that there was no available fix or remedy at that time. In addition to this recall, the vehicle is subject to two other active safety recalls, both of which also lack available repairs: A recall involving sand or debris in the engine, which may impact engine performance and long-term reliability. A recall involving the high-voltage battery, for which we have since received additional notices advising us not to charge the vehicle and not to park it inside or near structures due to a fire risk. There is currently no fix available for this defect. We selected this vehicle specifically as an electric vehicle, in part because it was intended to be charged and used safely at home and to avoid the ongoing cost of gasoline. The current instructions not to charge the vehicle and to avoid parking it inside or near structures eliminate the vehicle’s intended purpose and expected use. Because of the loss of power at highway speeds, the failure to accelerate, the ongoing safety concerns, and the existence of multiple unresolved safety recalRead more

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrid. The vehicle has experienced repeated stalling and loss of propulsion while driving, including in active traffic and in a school pickup line. The vehicle has unexpectedly failed to accelerate or start, creating dangerous situations for myself, my passengers, and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle has stalled in traf

One incident occurred in a school pickup line, causing traffic disruption and creating a safety risk with children present. In addition, the vehicle is subject to a high-voltage battery safety recall due to fire risk. I have been advised that the vehicle is unsafe to park in a garage, and I am concerned about the risk of fire. At this time, there is no permanent repair available for the recall. Well the engine definitely failed to provide power for me to drive my vehicle. And as I am doing more and more research on what the PTU does, which is what there is a recall on. It appears the PTU not working correctly on my vehicle affected the engine, and the ability for car to properly utilize oil, thus affecting the operation of the cylinders 1 and 4 on my vehicle. I am being told I need a ne
... w engine however, I believe the PTU problem directly affected my engine because everything that happens with the failure of the PTU is similar things that happen with the failure of my engine, thus the two really are related. And if the PTU "talks to" the engine for proper consumption and usage of oil then, my current engine replacement needs to be covered under the recall of the PTU and any other possible engine problems with other Jeep Cherokee engine recalls. I would like someone to contact me and have a discussion with me and/or an attorney as I am considering now hiring one because of the safety risk of continued problems especially putting in another engine and having the PTU affect the engine again. Also mechanics are saying there is no way that this engine failed unless there was something else wrong upon installation of the engine or something else affected the operation of the engine, as in the PTU.Read more
